The Yale Assure Keyed Lever replaces an existing lever or knob on a single-bore door with a touchscreen keypad, app control and a mechanical key override. It is a deadlatch, not a deadbolt, so it suits doors prepared with one 54mm bore hole and no separate deadbolt cut-out - side entry doors, garage entry doors, basement doors, home offices, granny flats and internal apartment doors.
The Yale Home Module is included in the box. Once fitted, the lock joins the Yale Home ecosystem: lock and unlock from your phone over Bluetooth, share access with family and trades, watch a 24/7 activity trail, and use Auto-Unlock so the door releases as you walk up to it. Apple HomeKit works at the lock itself with no extra hardware. Adding the optional Yale Connect Plus Hub 2 extends control to anywhere in the world and brings in Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
Code capacity scales with the module. On its own the keypad holds 25 user codes; with the Yale Home Module installed and the lock set up in the app that rises to up to 250. The C4 keyway is rekeyable and can be keyed alike to the rest of a Yale or Lockwood C4 suite, so one mechanical key can still open every door on the property.

Battery, Power & Emergency Access
The Assure Keyed Lever runs on 4 x AA alkaline batteries, supplied in the box, sitting in the interior escutcheon behind a keyed battery cover. Expect roughly a year of normal residential use. The lock warns you in the app and audibly well before it stops.
There are two independent backups if the batteries do go flat: 9V terminals beneath the touchscreen take a standard 9V block to power the keypad long enough to enter a code, and the mechanical key opens the door regardless of battery state. That second point is the reason to choose the Keyed Lever over the keyless models in the Assure range.

Over Bluetooth, at the door, you get lock and unlock from the phone, guest invitations with Always, Recurring or Temporary schedules, Owner and Guest access levels, the 24/7 activity trail, DoorSense door position, Auto-Lock on a timer and Auto-Unlock on approach.
Apple HomeKit pairs directly to the module - scan the eight-digit HomeKit code supplied with the module and Siri can operate the lock locally with no additional hardware.

Wrenching the exterior keypad off the door disconnects the ribbon cable that links it to the interior lock. That disconnection sounds the alarm and pushes a notification through the Yale Home app. It keeps sounding until the batteries are pulled or the cable is reconnected. My door already has a lever and a separate deadbolt. Can I still use this?
You can fit the Assure Keyed Lever in the lower lever hole and leave the deadbolt where it is, but you would then be operating two locks. Most people in that situation put an Assure Lock Keyed deadbolt in the upper hole instead, so the smart lock is the one that secures the door.

No - and it will not work on it. The Hub 2 is 2.4GHz only (802.11b/g/n). Your phone needs to be on the 2.4GHz network during setup, after which you can put the phone back on 5GHz. Does Apple HomeKit need the Hub 2?
Not for local control. HomeKit pairs straight to the Yale Home Module over Bluetooth using the eight-digit code supplied with the module. For Siri to work while you are away from home you need an Apple home hub - an Apple TV or HomePod - within Bluetooth range of the lock.

How does Auto-Unlock decide when to open the door?
The app tracks whether you are in Home or Away mode using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. You enter Away mode once you travel roughly 200 metres from the lock. On return, when your phone gets within a few metres and sees the lock over Bluetooth, the door unlocks. It will not fire if you never actually left the neighbourhood.

Installation & Setup
What is the installation sequence?
Strike plate and latch into the frame and door edge first, with the latch retracted, unlocked, and the up arrow facing up. Then the exterior touchscreen, with the tailpiece vertical, arrow up, and the cable routed under the latch. Then the interior mounting plate, cable fed through the cable hole, fixed with the two long through bolts - snug, not over-tightened. Then the interior lock body: connect the cable with the two white ridges facing you, hook the bottom in first until it clicks, then push the top home and fit the two machine screws. The lock will not lock after installation or a reset.

The keypad makes no sound.
Check Audio is enabled in the programming menu. If it is, the white cable between the keypad and the interior lock is most likely pinched or unseated - remove the batteries before you open anything up.

I get an alert when I try to lock or unlock electronically.

Remove one battery, wait ten seconds, remove and reseat the module, refit the battery and listen for the start-up sound. If it persists, re-register the module: master code, gear, 7, gear, then exit. If the number 7 is missing from the programming menu, the master code is not set, the module is not seated, or the lock is not compatible.

Does the outside lever still turn when the door is locked?
Yes. The lever rotates freely but the latch stays put until a valid code, key or app command releases it. That is normal and deliberate.

Is the tamper alarm the same as the phantom alerts people complain about?
No. This is genuine hardware - the alarm triggers when the ribbon cable between keypad and interior lock is physically disconnected, which is what happens if someone wrenches the keypad off the door. The phantom alert problem belongs to a different platform entirely. Tamper alert explained.

Yes. Salt air is hard on any electronic lock, and the Yale warranty specifically excludes corrosion from coastal air and salt spray. Keep this lock on a protected door with an eave or porch over it, and rinse and dry the exterior escutcheon periodically. Coastal lifespan guidance.

Can I have it keyed alike to my other locks?
Usually yes, if your existing locks are on the C4 profile - which most Australian Yale and Lockwood residential cylinders are. A locksmith rekeys the cylinder to your existing key. Bring a key and a lock body in, or book a site visit.

What if I forget the master code?
A factory reset is the only route back. That erases every code and setting, so you then re-run master code creation and re-hand the lock. If the lock is paired to the app, factory reset it from the app while in Bluetooth range.

Installation Tips from the Bench
- Fit the latch retracted and unlocked, up arrow upward. The tailpiece slot must sit horizontal. Getting this backwards is the most common reason a lock will not throw afterwards.
- Route the cable under the latch. It then passes through the vertical slot in the interior mounting plate. A pinched cable causes silent keypads, jam alarms and rapid battery drain.
- Tailpiece vertical, arrow up, thumbturn horizontal before you offer the interior half to the plate. If the spindle and tailpiece will not mate, that is nearly always why.
- Do not over-tighten the through bolts. Snug is enough. Over-tightening distorts the escutcheon and binds the mechanism.
- Cable connector: two white ridges facing you, pushed fully home until it seats.
- Hook the bottom of the interior body in first and listen for the click, then swing the top in.
- Batteries out when the module goes in. Never insert or remove the Yale Home Module with the lock powered.
- Test mechanically before you power it up. Rotate both levers, door open and closed, and confirm the latch retracts freely with no resistance.
- Set the master code first, then hand the lock, then pair the app - and create every user code in the app, not on the keypad.

Exterior escutcheon 154mm high x 70mm wide. Interior escutcheon 163mm high x 70mm wide. Lever projection 110mm from the escutcheon centre line, lever centre 37mm below it. Exterior escutcheon stands 17.5mm off the door face, interior 34mm; overall depth across the assembly 59mm and 76.7mm on the two sectional views.

This warranty applies to genuine Yale products purchased new in Australia from ASSA ABLOY or its authorised resellers. It operates in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

- Keep your proof of original purchase (invoice or receipt).
- Contact Gold Coast Smart Locks - operated by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries - as your authorised retailer, and follow the steps on our Returns & Warranty page.
- Return the product securely packed to protect it in transit, together with your proof of purchase and your name, address, email and phone number.
- ASSA ABLOY assesses the claim. Where the warranty applies, they will (at their option) repair the product, replace it with the same or closest equivalent Yale product, or refund the price you paid.
Claims made directly to ASSA ABLOY require a Case Number from their Customer Service Department before goods are returned - products sent back without a Case Number may not be accepted. Costs of returning a product are the customer's responsibility.
What Is Not Covered
- Normal wear and tear.
- Misuse, abuse, accident, or use outside Yale's published technical specifications.
- Improper maintenance or neglect, or failure to follow ASSA ABLOY's care and maintenance recommendations.
- Use of batteries other than those specified; batteries themselves are not covered.
- Unauthorised alteration, modification or repair by anyone other than ASSA ABLOY authorised personnel.
- Custom orders made to components or specifications supplied by someone other than ASSA ABLOY.
- Goods that were not new when purchased, second-hand goods, or products not originally sold in Australia through ASSA ABLOY or an authorised reseller.
- Products with brands, marks, plates, numbers or other ASSA ABLOY information defaced or removed.
- Use of substitute, replacement or non-genuine ASSA ABLOY parts or cylinders.
- Corrosive exposure, including vapours, chemicals, abrasive compounds, contamination, pollution, coastal air, salt spray and high humidity.
- Removal, refitment or replacement of products, and any associated charges.

Batteries are consumable and are not covered. Cosmetic finishes and appearance are excluded. Stainless steel resists staining but is not stain-proof - tea staining is a natural process and is not covered where cleaning and maintenance guidelines have not been followed.
