The Carbine CDL2 Digital Leverset (CDL2-SL8) provides simple PIN code access and mechanical key override in a compact, slimline membrane keypad design. Available in Satin Nickel (CDL2-SL8SNKIT) and Matte Black (CDL2-SL8MBKIT) - both finishes sold from this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CDL2 is PIN-only with a membrane keypad. The CEL-3IN1 is a touchscreen lock accepting RFID cards, FOBs, and NFC phones in addition to PIN. The CDL2 uses 4 x AAA batteries; the CEL-3IN1 uses 4 x AA. The CDL2 is simpler and lower cost. See: Carbine CEL & CDL Buyer's Guide - CDL2 vs CEL
Auto-lock is controlled by the interior thumbturn position. Horizontal = auto-lock active. Vertical = passage mode (functions as a passage lever with no auto-lock). This differs from the CEL series which uses a timed auto-lock via programming.

Clean with mild soap and a soft cloth only. Do not use chemicals containing alcohol, benzene, or acids. Do not use sharp or abrasive objects on the keypad.

The CDL2 leverset uses a spring-loaded tubular latch (not a deadbolt). The latch retracts when the lever is pressed and auto-locks when the door closes. The template marks a 54mm bore, a 25mm edge hole and door thicknesses of 35, 40, 45 and 51mm, with separate 60mm and 70mm backset positions. Three screw lengths are supplied - 27mm, 20.5mm and 19mm - so check you have the right one before you start. Access, Codes and Programming
Twenty user codes, each 4 to 8 digits long, plus one programming code. That is double the ten codes the CDL2 deadbolt holds, and the two models are not interchangeable on capacity. If you need more than twenty, the CEL2-3IN1 leverset carries a hundred codes and cards in one shared pool. More on how PIN access works: Buyers Guide Ch03.
The default programming code is 123456, and yes - change it before the lock goes into service. It is printed in the CDL2 Leverset User Guide, so anyone who knows the model knows the code. Note that the CDL2 uses a six-digit default; the CEL and CEL2 ranges use an eight-digit 12345678, so do not follow a CEL guide on this lock.
Yes. Individual user codes can be deleted one at a time from the keypad, and there is a separate command to clear every user code at once. That makes the CDL2 practical for a rental or a shared office where one person's access needs to end without disturbing everyone else's. The full sequence is in the User Guide.
The keypad locks out after four consecutive incorrect entries. It is a simple deterrent rather than an audit trail - the CDL2 has no app and keeps no event log, so if you need to know who opened the door and when, you need an app-connected lock such as the CEL2-BT leverset on Carbine Connect.
Yes - keypad volume is adjustable from the programming menu, which is worth knowing on a bedroom, apartment or shift-worker door where a full-volume beep at 5am is not welcome. The setting is covered in the CDL2 Leverset User Guide.
It switches every user code off for a period, then switches them back on, without deleting anything. Codes survive the holiday and go on working when you return. Useful on a holiday unit or a house left empty, and it pairs well with keeping the mechanical key with someone you trust locally - see where to keep the override key.
Auto-Lock, Passage Mode and Everyday Use
You turn the interior thumbturn. Horizontal is auto-lock on; vertical is passage mode. There is no timer to program and no app to open - it is a physical position you can see at a glance, which is one of the genuine advantages of this lock in a household where not everyone wants to learn a menu. The CEL and CEL2 leversets work differently, with a programmed auto-lock delay.
Yes - set the thumbturn vertical and the CDL2 behaves as an ordinary passage lever: press and walk through, no code needed. Turn it back to horizontal when you want the door securing itself again. Because the setting lives on the inside face, only someone already inside can put the lock into passage mode.
Enter the code, wait for the green light, then turn the lever. People who turn the lever too early assume the code failed when it did not. If the light is not green, re-enter the code rather than forcing the lever. General troubleshooting: Buyers Guide Ch12.
Power, Batteries and Backup Entry
The CDL2 leverset is the one product in the Carbine CEL, CEL2 and CDL2 family that runs on 4 x AAA. Everything else in the range uses AA. It catches people out at the shop counter, so buy AAA spares and keep them with the lock's paperwork rather than assuming the batteries in the drawer will fit. Two signals. The button light turns yellow, and when a code is entered the indicator flashes red and green four times with four beeps. You use the key. The CDL2 ships with an LKW9 (Silca LW5) six-pin cylinder and two mechanical keys, so a flat lock is an inconvenience rather than a lockout - provided the key is somewhere you can reach it. The cylinder is an LKW9 (Silca LW5) six-pin, keyed to a five-pin key, so extra keys are a straightforward cut for any locksmith. It is a standard commercial keyway rather than a restricted one, so if you need restricted or patented keying, talk to us before you buy. Related: keys and key blanks for smart locks.
Fit, Door Preparation and Installation
A 54mm bore through the face, a 25mm hole through the door edge for the latch, and a backset of either 60mm or 70mm - the supplied latch adjusts between the two. The template also marks door thicknesses of 35, 40, 45 and 51mm. If your door already carries a standard cylindrical lockset, the holes are usually already there. No. One part number covers both. The lock leaves the factory set for a right swing door and the installation sheet gives the steps to change it to a left swing on site, with no extra parts. That is genuinely useful on a job where the door turns out to be handed the other way. See how to work out your door handing.
Check three things in order: the latch backset setting, the spindle alignment, and the connecting cable between the two modules. The cable seats with the metal side facing outward, and a pinched or half-seated plug is the single most common cause of a lock that powers up but will not operate. No on both counts. The CDL2 leverset takes a 60mm or 70mm backset only, and a door between 35mm and 51mm thick. A 127mm backset latch cannot be fitted to this lock, so a wide-stile door needs a different product - bring us the measurements and we will tell you what does fit. See standard backset sizes.
No. The CDL2 carries no fire rating, so it must not be fitted to a fire-rated door assembly. Within the Carbine range the fire-rated options are the CEL2-3IN1 Fire Rated leverset and the CEL2-BT Fire Rated leverset. Carbine has moisture and salt spray tested the lock, but no test figure is quoted for the CDL2, so we will not put a number on it. Treat salt spray results generally as laboratory cabinet tests rather than a warranty for coastal service, and expect any keypad lock within a few kilometres of the surf to want rinsing and a look over each year. Choosing Between the Carbine Models
The leverset is the door's working handle: press the lever and walk through. The CDL2 deadbolt is a bolt above a separate handle, and it holds ten codes rather than twenty. Plenty of Queensland entry doors end up with both - a latching lockset for daily use and a deadbolt above it. See secondary locks and the one-penetration principle.
Not this lock. The CDL2 has no RFID and no NFC. Step up to the CEL-3IN1 leverset or the CEL2-3IN1 leverset, and pair it with a CEL-RFID card, fob, sticker or wristband. Or browse every card and fob lock we stock.
Not on the CDL2 - it is a standalone lock with no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi and no app. For phone-managed codes in the Carbine range you want a CEL2-BT leverset, which runs on Carbine Connect - and note that Carbine Connect is Bluetooth only, so you need to be at the door. There is no remote unlock. If you want true remote access, look at a Wi-Fi lock and read which platform is right for you.
For most households, yes. The CDL2 removes the key from daily use, costs less than the RFID and Bluetooth models, and has fewer things to learn or go wrong - the trade is that there is no card, no app and no log. How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd (the place of purchase) in writing as soon as the defect becomes apparent - and no later than 14 days after the end of the applicable warranty period.
- Include in your written claim: a description of the defect, the date of supply, your contact details, and satisfactory proof of purchase.
- Do not return the product until a return authorisation number has been issued by Davcor. If return is required, the product must be in its original, complete, and saleable packaging.
- Davcor will test and assess the product. No claim is valid unless Davcor has confirmed a defect is present.
- Once a valid claim is confirmed, Davcor will - at its discretion - repair the defect, replace the product, or supply an equivalent product. If repair or replacement cannot be completed within a reasonable time, you may request a full refund, provided the product has been returned.
Delivery inspection: If you believe a product is defective or incorrectly supplied at the time of delivery, telephone notice must be given within 72 hours of receipt, with written notice (including full particulars) within 14 days of the invoice date.
Exclusions
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Carbine CDL2SL digital Level set
I did a fair bit of research trying to find a keypad entrance lock for our back door/laundry entrance. I didn't need to connect using wifi.
