The Lockwood 3772-DXKITSC turns an existing Lockwood Selector 3772 MkII mortice lock into a keypad-entry lock. You keep the mortice lock already in the door, and you add a mechanical Digital DX codepad to the outside face. There are no batteries, no wiring and nothing to charge or pair, which is why this conversion has been the standard answer on commercial doors for decades.
The kit is deliberately narrow in scope. It supplies the codepad, the mounting plate, the codepad spindle, the latching adaptor and the fixings, and nothing else. The mortice lock itself, the inside furniture and any cylinder are separate orders, so the kit fits whichever Selector 3772 variant is already in your door rather than forcing a particular one on you.
This is the version without key override. Outside entry is by code only, which is what most sites want on a plant room, a store, a staff entry or a back-of-house door. If you also need a key to open the door from outside, the 3772-DXKOKITSC key override kit is the same conversion with a lower cylinder added.
Inside the door, nothing changes. The lever handle stays live at all times, so anybody inside walks straight out without touching the keypad. The 3772-DXKITSC does not include a mortice lock. It converts a Lockwood Selector 3772 MkII mortice lock you already have (or order separately) to keypad entry. You will also need Lockwood 1800 or 2800 series furniture for the inside face if it is not already fitted. Key Features
- No batteries, ever. The code is held in a mechanical tumbler chamber, so there is nothing to flatten, replace or monitor. The lock works the same on day one and in twenty years.
- Keeps the mortice lock you already have. The kit converts a Selector 3772 MkII lock in place, so the door preparation, the strike and the backset all stay as they are.
- One kit covers every backset in the family. Because the backset lives in the mortice lock body rather than the keypad, the same kit suits 60mm, 89mm and 127mm doors.
- Code entry in any order. Press C to clear, enter your digits in whatever order suits, then turn the knob. Each button is used once per code, which is what makes the codes hard to shoulder-surf.
- Code cancels itself. Release the outside knob and the code clears automatically, so the door is never left unlocked by someone forgetting a step.

- Clutched outside knob. Force the outside knob without a code and it spins rather than driving the lock, protecting the keypad mechanism from attack and from casual abuse.
- Field reversible. Handing is set at installation and can be changed with the lock in the door, so one kit suits doors opening either way.
- Serviceable, not disposable. Keypads, mounting plates and code tumblers are all available as spares, so a worn lock gets repaired rather than replaced.

Lockwood DX codes look cryptic until you know the pattern. Reading 3772-DXKITSC from left to right:
One caveat worth knowing: the short backset families count differently (3782, 4782, 5782 and 6782 step through 23, 25.4, 30 and 38mm backsets), and they take the 3782-DXKITSC kit instead of this one. Code Control - How the Code Works and How to Change It
The kit ships with a factory-set 4 digit code, which you can change to any 4, 5 or 6 digit code of your own. The code lives in a mechanical tumbler chamber behind the keypad - there is no memory chip and nothing to reset electronically. Because it is a chamber rather than a sequence, each digit is used once per code and the digits can be pressed in any order; the C button always clears a wrong entry and cannot form part of the code. Changing the code is a bench job, and an honest word about it: the tumblers are small and the sequence matters, so the first one takes about half an hour. Once you have done a few it is a ten minute job. The one rule that saves callouts: test the new code five times before you close the door.
A practical note on this being a shared code: everyone who needs access uses the same digits, and changing it means changing it for everybody. On a plant room or a back-of-house door that is usually a feature. Where you need per-person access or a record of who came and went, a smart lock is the better tool - we set the trade out plainly in what these locks will not do.

Fire Door Compliance
The Selector 3770 series mortice lock platform this kit converts has published fire test history of up to 4 hours on fire door assemblies under AS 1905.1-2005, depending on the doorset. That gives the range genuine fire door relevance when it is used in an approved configuration.
Two practical rules that catch people out on DX fire door work. First, the rubber mounting pad must be omitted wherever the manufacturer instructions call for it to be left off. Second, holdback must never be activated on a fire door - a fire door has to latch every time it closes, and holdback defeats that. This kit has no holdback function, which on a fire door is one less thing to get wrong.
As with all fire door hardware, compliance rests on the complete tested doorset: the door, the frame, the mortice lock, the furniture, the preparation and the installation method together. We state the test history; your certifier makes the compliance call. Not to this kit. Key override needs the longer mounting plate with the cylinder hole, the lower cylinder mounting plate and the spindle cam, and those parts are only supplied in the 3772-DXKOKITSC. If there is any chance you will want a key from outside, order the key override kit from the start.
It is a bench job rather than an on-door one, and honestly the first attempt takes about half an hour. Everything buyers and installers ask us about the Selector 3772 DX conversion kit, grouped by subject. Short version at the top of each answer, detail underneath.
What This Kit Is and Is Not
A Digital DX codepad with the outside knob, a mounting plate, the codepad spindle, a latching adaptor, the SP3772DX-119 accessory pack (blanking cap, washer and mounting screws) and the code change kit. That is the whole kit. The manufacturer contents drawing is in the What's in the Box tab, and the same list appears on page 20 of the 3700 Series Service Manual.
Because it has no lock body. A conversion kit changes how an existing mortice lock is operated from the outside; it does not lock the door on its own. The bolt, the latch and the strike all belong to the Selector 3772 mortice lock that stays in the door. If you have a bare door with no lock in it, you want a complete lockset such as the 3572DX or the 5572DX, not this kit.
Key override. The KO kit adds a cylinder on the outside so the door can also be opened with a key. To carry that cylinder it uses a longer mounting plate with a cylinder hole (51 x 246mm), plus a lower cylinder mounting plate and a spindle cam - three parts this kit does not have and cannot take. Everything else about the two kits is the same. Compare them side by side: 3772-DXKOKITSC.
Only if the door does not already have it. The inside face runs Lockwood 1800 or 2800 series lever furniture, and on a retrofit that is usually already fitted and staying. On a new install it is a separate order. Tell us what is on the door when you order and we will make sure the furniture side is squared away.
Fit and Compatibility
The Lockwood Selector 3772 MkII family - and every backset in it. Because the backset is a property of the lock body rather than the keypad, the 60mm (3772), 89mm (4772) and 127mm (5772) locks all take this same kit. The compatibility table on this page lists the nine 3772 MkII variants we stock, from the standard 3772SS through to the 500,000-cycle 3772NSF8SS.
No. The short backset Selector family (3782, 4782, 5782, 6782 at 23, 25.4, 30 and 38mm backsets) is a different platform with its own kit - the 3782-DXKITSC. The two are not interchangeable. Doors from 32mm to 50mm. That covers the overwhelming majority of commercial timber leaves. Door clearance matters too: Lockwood recommends 3mm, the lock will operate up to 7mm, and anything over 5mm is not recommended. Yes, with the 3772-AFKIT aluminium door fixing kit. Aluminium framed doors have thinner, differently supported stiles than timber, so the fixing arrangement changes. Order the AFKIT with the conversion kit rather than discovering it on site. If the door is a narrow stile, read our narrow stile guide before you commit.
The latching adaptor comes in two generations that look similar and are not interchangeable: 3770M1-ADAPTOR for MkI and 3770M2-ADAPTOR for MkII. The standard-backset 3770 series covered by this kit is MkII. Older service literature predates the split and refers to a single "3770-ADAPTOR", so if you are working from an older manual, confirm the generation before ordering a replacement adaptor. Codes and Daily Use
Four, five or six digits. The kit is factory set to a 4 digit code, which you should change before the lock goes into service. Each digit can be used only once in a code, and the code can be entered in any order - so 1-3-5-7 opens the same lock as 7-5-3-1. That is a property of the coding chamber rather than a shortcut: how the codes actually work.
From outside: press C to clear anything left in the keypad, enter your code, then turn the knob. From inside: just use the lever, at any time, with no code. Let go of the outside knob and the code cancels itself, so the door cannot be left in an unlocked state by someone walking away mid-sequence.
No. Lockwood DX code changes are bench jobs - the keypad comes off, the tumbler chamber is opened, and the code tumblers are rearranged by hand. This is the honest difference between DX and an on-door system like Borg Easicode Pro, where the code changes in about thirty seconds at the door. If frequent recoding matters to you, factor that in. About half an hour the first time, ten minutes once you have done a few. The tumblers are small metal parts and they have to go back in the correct order and orientation - most failures come down to one tumbler in upside down or a hole left unfilled. The three classic traps are worth reading before you start, and whatever you do, test the new code five times before the door closes.

No. The inside lever is free at all times regardless of the outside code state, so anyone inside opens the door in a single motion without a code, a key or a thumbturn. That is the behaviour egress provisions are written around. On doors in a required exit path there may be additional requirements on the whole assembly - see doors in required exit paths.
Not with this kit. Holdback on the Selector platform is driven from an internal cylinder, and this kit has no cylinder, so the function is not available and cannot be retrofitted. On a fire door that is the correct outcome regardless - holdback is a hard exclusion on fire doors, because a fire door must latch every time it closes.
Installation, Servicing and Longevity
If you are a competent tradesperson working from the manual, yes. The timber door mounting sequence for this exact kit is on pages 56 to 58 of the 3700 Series Service Manual. What catches people out is spindle length, plate alignment and adaptor orientation - get those wrong and the lock feels notchy from the first turn. The kit is reversible. Handing is set at installation and can be changed later with the lock still in the door, for left or right hand doors opening inwards or outwards. You do not need to specify a hand when ordering this kit.
You replace the keypad, not the lock. The SPDX-50SC is named against the Selector 3772 platform in the 3700 Series Service Manual exploded views, the SPDX-324 mounting plate is available separately, and spare code tumblers can be ordered for recoding. Being repairable rather than disposable is most of the argument for mechanical on a door that gets hammered.
Reasonably, with maintenance - but be aware that Lockwood's warranty specifically excludes corrosion damage from coastal air, salt spray and high humidity. On Gold Coast doors within a few streets of the water, a regular fresh-water wipe of the keypad and furniture is cheap insurance. 25 years on mechanical components and 10 years on the Satin Chrome plated finish. Because this kit is entirely mechanical, the 25 year clause covers the whole product - there are no electrical components to carry a shorter term.
