Cylinders and door furniture are also separate items. The Lockwood DX platform is the commercial standard for aluminium door applications across Australia - office entries, back-of-house, stairwells and fire-rated corridors where a standard 60mm backset simply will not fit the stile. Fire Door Compliance
The 3782-DXKOKITSC is not a standalone fire-rated product. Any fire door claim must relate to the complete tested doorset - lock body, furniture, cylinder, frame details and the approved assembly all affect compliance.
This matters especially on aluminium door applications, where the approved configuration is the only defensible position. Always confirm suitability against the door manufacturer's approval, the lock schedule and the relevant tested configuration before ordering or installing.

Compatibility
The 3782-DXKOKITSC pairs with Lockwood Selector 3782-series short backset mortice locks only. The kit is machined to the geometry of the 3782 platform - it will not fit the 3772-series standard backset mortice locks, the 530 tubular deadlatch or the 002 deadlatch. Decoding Lockwood Codes - Locks and Kits
Lockwood's model numbers are structured, and reading them correctly is the fastest way to avoid ordering the wrong combination. The canonical Lockwood DX decoder covers the full scheme; the 3782 kit family specifically works like this:
Note: you specify the kit once (3782-DXKOKITSC) and then specify which primary lock you need by its backset (3782SS, 4782SS, 5782SS or 6782SS). The kit is the same regardless of which primary lock backset you choose. See the ordering procedure (catalogue excerpt page 15) for the formal specification format.
Code Control
To enter: press the C button first, enter your code digits, then turn the outside knob. The code clears automatically when the knob is released. Inside, the lever handle operates freely at all times - there is no code required from the inside.
The kit ships with a 4-digit factory-set code and a code change kit. You can set any code of 4, 5 or 6 digits. The coding chamber works on the any-order principle - the lock checks which buttons were pressed, not the order in which you pressed them. A code of 1-3-5 opens whether you press 1 then 3 then 5, or 3 then 5 then 1. This means a 6-digit code from the digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, X can be entered in any sequence - the chamber either sees those digits or it does not.
Recoding uses the code change tumblers at the workbench - not an on-door procedure. Set the code before installation, test it five times, then fit the unit. Does this kit include the mortice lock body?No. The 3782-DXKOKITSC is a conversion kit only. You must order the compatible Selector 3782 primary mortice lock separately - specify it by the backset your door requires: 3782SS (23mm), 4782SS (25.4mm), 5782SS (30mm) or 6782SS (38mm). Does it include the key override cylinder?No. The 570E type key override cylinder must be ordered and keyed separately. If master keying is required across the site, the cylinder is the component that needs to be specified into the master key system - the kit just provides the pocket and mounting plate for it.
What is the difference between the 3782-DXKITSC and the 3782-DXKOKITSC?The 3782-DXKITSC is the keypad-only kit without key override. It suits a wider door range (32-50mm) and is simpler to specify. How do I change the code?The factory-set code can be changed at the workbench using the supplied code change kit. Can this kit be used on a fire door?Not independently - fire door compliance depends on the complete tested doorset assembly, not the kit alone. The primary mortice lock, furniture, cylinder, frame details and the door manufacturer's tested configuration all contribute. Why does the kit only suit 43-46mm doors?The geometry of the key override cylinder provision, the spindle cam and the mounting arrangement in the 3782-DXKOKITSC are machined for that door range specifically. The non-KO kit (3782-DXKITSC) suits 32-50mm because it does not carry the additional cylinder components. If your door is thicker or thinner and you need key override, ask us - there may be a different lock platform that suits.
The knob freewheels when I try to turn it. Is it faulty?No - this is the clutch mechanism working correctly. The outside knob freewheels under any load until a valid code is entered. This protects the lock body from forced entry and wrenching attacks. Enter the code first, then turn the knob.
Additional Information
Lockwood branded products purchased new in Australia from authorised resellers carry a 25-year warranty on mechanical components against defects in materials and workmanship. This kit is entirely mechanical, so the 25-year term applies to the codepad assembly and all kit components.
Exclusions: corrosion and cosmetic finish degradation are excluded from the mechanical warranty - this is relevant on exposed coastal and high-humidity installations. Normal wear and tear, misuse, unauthorised modification, and labour or freight costs are also excluded. Batteries are excluded (no batteries in this product).

Which locks does the 3782-DXKOKITSC suit?It suits Lockwood Selector 3782-series short backset mortice locks only - 3782SS (23mm), 4782SS (25.4mm), 5782SS (30mm) or 6782SS (38mm). Why does the key override kit only suit 43-46mm doors when the non-KO kit suits 32-50mm?The key override components - the lower cylinder mounting plate, spindle cam and cylinder pocket - are precision-machined to the 43-46mm door range. The standard DX kit (3782-DXKITSC) does not carry these additional components, which is why it covers a wider door range. If your door is outside 43-46mm and you need key override, contact us to discuss options.
Which cylinder do I order for the key override?A 570E type cylinder is required. The cylinder is ordered separately and must be keyed to suit the site - if master keying across multiple cylinders is required, it needs to be specified into the master key system at the cylinder order stage. The kit provides the pocket, mounting plate and cam; the cylinder itself is not included. Ask us about cylinder supply and keying.
How do I set my own code?Using the code change tumblers at the workbench before installation. The DX bench recode method takes about 30 minutes the first time and 5-10 minutes with practice. What backset should I specify for an open-in door?The 38mm backset (6782SS primary lock) is generally recommended for open-in aluminium doors because it provides codepad clearance from the door stop without machining in most cases. The 23mm, 25.4mm and 30mm backset options may require door stop machining to clear the codepad on open-in applications. Is this a good alternative to a smart lock for a commercial door?It depends on the requirements. This kit gives you battery-free keypad access with key override - which means no connectivity dependencies, no battery management, and key entry when the code is forgotten or unavailable. Those are real advantages for back-of-house, plant rooms and building manager access. The honest limitations are: one shared code, no audit trail, and code changes take 30 minutes at the workbench.

- Decorative finishes (Antique Copper, Architectural Bronze, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Aged Brass, Polished Brass, Satin Brass and related variants): typically up to 2 years against corrosion.
