McGrath Ashgrove Smart Digital Deadbolt - Raised Button with Braille, 60/70mm Adjustable Bolt
The McGrath Ashgrove is a smart digital deadbolt developed for the Australian market. It pairs a tempered glass keypad with raised physical buttons and Braille markings, making the keypad easier to operate for visually impaired users and in low-light conditions, while retaining the door's existing handle hardware.
Access is managed through the McGrath Locks App over Bluetooth as standard, and can be granted by PIN code, RFID credential, Bluetooth eKey, or mechanical key override. Optional remote access, credential management, and activity history become available when the lock is paired with a compatible McGrath Locks Wi-Fi gateway. A door position sensor is supplied for optional door monitoring and auto-locking logic. The Ashgrove shares the McGrath 60/70mm adjustable bolt platform with the Kedron and Grange models.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays)

Accessibility - Braille & Raised Buttons
This model features raised physical buttons with integrated braille markings, improving usability for visually impaired users and making the keypad easier to operate in low-light conditions or when visual confirmation is difficult. Note the Ashgrove is not certified as DDA or AS1428.1 compliant - the raised buttons and braille aid usability but do not constitute formal accessibility certification. If you need a certified-compliant lock, see the DDA, NDIS & Accessibility chapter of our buyers guide and the DDA smart locks guide.
Access Methods
Suitable Uses
- Residential and light-commercial hinged (swing) doors where keyless deadbolt access is wanted alongside existing handle hardware.
- Doors where tactile, Braille-marked entry improves day-to-day usability for visually impaired occupants.
- Timber and aluminium doors of standard stile, 35mm to 60mm thick (extendable to 100mm with optional hardware).
- Retrofit onto doors already prepared for a 60mm or 70mm backset deadbolt.
- Sheltered entrances - the external housing is IP65 rated for weather exposure of the outside panel.
The Ashgrove is a hinged-door deadbolt. Although the external panel is IP65 rated, the interior battery unit is not weather-sealed, so this lock is not suitable for exposed external pedestrian gates. For a double-sided lock designed for external gates, see the McGrath Ascot.

Both finishes are supplied under the one listing. Finish selection does not affect functionality, compliance, or performance.
McGrath 60/70mm Adjustable-Bolt Deadbolt Range
The Ashgrove and Kedron share the same McGrath 60/70mm adjustable-bolt platform - the Ashgrove uses a raised-button keypad with Braille for accessibility, while the Kedron uses a tempered glass fingerprint keypad.
Battery, Power & Backup Access
- Powered by 4 x AA alkaline batteries (not included).
- Typical battery life approximately 12 months (based on around 10 uses per day).
- Low battery alerts are provided audibly at the lock and within the app.
- USB-C emergency power input for temporary access if the batteries are flat.
- Mechanical key override with a rekeyable PD cylinder.
- Terry's Locksmiths strongly recommends the use of Duracell batteries.
If the batteries are neglected, you still have a USB-C power port for a temporary jump and a mechanical key override. For more on where the keyhole sits and what happens when a battery dies, see our guide to mechanical key override on smart locks.

McGrath Locks App Platform
The Ashgrove runs on the customised McGrath-branded platform, which is managed, supported, and distributed locally here in Australia. Australian-based staff handle warranty, troubleshooting, and product queries. The underlying cloud infrastructure is provided by TTLock, a globally deployed IoT platform. The McGrath Locks App is available for iOS and Android.
Wi-Fi Remote Access (Optional)
This smart lock does not include native Wi-Fi. Remote access and management are available only when the lock is paired with a compatible McGrath Locks gateway. With a gateway installed, you can remotely unlock the door, issue or revoke access credentials, and view access activity through the McGrath Locks App from anywhere with an internet connection. For a detailed explanation of gateway types, capabilities, and selection guidance, see G2 vs G3 vs G4 vs G5: Smart Lock Gateways Compared, or the gateway comparison chapter of our buyers guide.
