McGrath Locks Torx Screwdriver - Magnetic Tip - Blue Handle
This McGrath Locks Torx screwdriver is the correct servicing tool for removing and refitting the battery compartment cover on compatible McGrath smart locks. The Torx tip matches the tamper-style screws used across the McGrath range, so the cover comes off cleanly without rounding the screw heads or marking the lock body.
The magnetic tip holds the small cover screws in place during removal and refitting - a genuine help when you are working at head height on a door and do not want to drop a screw into the carpet or off a ladder.
This product is a replacement tool only. It does not include a lock, batteries, or fasteners. It is the counterpart to the red-handled 2.0mm triangle screwdriver used on McGrath Ascot locks.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays)

Accessories & Related Tools
The McGrath Ascot uses a 2.0mm triangle screw for its battery cover, not a Torx screw. For that model you need the red-handled tool instead: View the Ascot Triangle Screwdriver.
Frequently Asked Questions
All McGrath smart locks except the Ascot - including the Albion, Windsor, Hamilton, Stafford, Bardon and ULTRA-SECUA. The Ascot uses a triangle screw and needs the red-handled triangle screwdriver instead.
McGrath battery covers use recessed Torx screws to resist tampering and to sit flush on the lock body. A standard flat or Phillips driver will not seat correctly and can round the heads. Using the correct tip keeps servicing clean. For more on battery life and what actually needs attention over a lock's life, see The Realities of Electronic Door Locks.
Yes. McGrath locks include a mechanical key override, and most also accept an emergency power boost. Once you are back in, this tool lets you open the cover to fit fresh cells. See Mechanical Key Override on Smart Locks for what to do when the battery dies.
No. This is a replacement servicing tool only - no lock, no batteries, no fasteners. Replacement cells are sold separately; the McGrath 3V lithium battery suits the ULTRA-SECUA.
Additional Information
McGrath colour-codes the two servicing tools: blue = Torx (this tool, for all models except Ascot) and red = 2.0mm triangle (Ascot only). Ordering by colour is the quickest way to get the right one. If you are not sure which lock you have, the Ascot is the double-sided tubular model rated for external gates; everything else in the range takes this blue Torx tool.
Keeping fresh batteries in the lock is the single most effective bit of maintenance you can do.
