McGrath RFID Easy Unlock Fob - Black

The McGrath RFID Easy Unlock Fob is a compact key fob credential for McGrath smart locks fitted with an integrated RFID reader. Hold the fob to the reader to unlock - no PIN, app or key required.

The small key fob format (42 × 26mm) is ideal for everyday carry and clips straight onto a keyring or lanyard, keeping access to hand alongside keys.

This product is an RFID credential only. It does not include a lock, reader or gateway.

How RFID Credentials Work
RFID (radio-frequency identification) credentials hold a unique identifier that is read when the credential is held close to the lock's reader. There is no battery inside the credential and nothing to charge. Each credential is enrolled to the lock and can be individually revoked if lost, which makes RFID a practical option for shared and managed access. For a fuller explanation of how RFID compares with PIN, fingerprint and Bluetooth entry, see the RFID section of our Access Methods guide and the credentials section of the TTLock Platform Guide.

Suitable Uses

  • Everyday keyring carry for residents and staff.
  • Households wanting a quick tap-to-unlock alternative to a PIN.
  • Rentals and short-stay accommodation issuing a physical credential.
  • Anyone who prefers a fob over carrying a card.

Available Finish Options

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this credential need a battery or charging?
No. RFID credentials are passive - they contain no battery and never need charging. The lock powers the read when the credential is presented to the reader.
Which McGrath locks does it work with?
Any McGrath lock with an integrated RFID reader, including the Ashgrove, Kedron, A210, A231, A236 and NX5 ranges. If you are unsure whether your model has an RFID reader, check the lock listing or contact Terry's. See the Access Methods guide for how RFID entry works.
How many credentials can I enrol?
Enrolment capacity is set by the lock, not the credential. Each credential must be enrolled to the lock before use, and any credential can be individually removed later if it is lost or a user leaves.
Is a lock or reader included?
No. This is an RFID credential only (a key fob). It does not include a lock, reader or gateway. It is intended for use with a compatible McGrath lock you already own or purchase separately.
Can a lost credential be a security risk?
A lost credential can be de-enrolled from the lock so it no longer grants access. Because credentials are individually revocable, losing one does not require rekeying or replacing the lock.

Additional Information

These credentials use the MIFARE Classic 1K standard at 13.56 MHz, the same standard read by McGrath's integrated reader modules. Enrolment is handled at the lock; there is no app pairing or setup on the credential itself.

The fob format is the most popular everyday credential - small enough to live on a keyring and quick to present at the reader.

Buying for a shared building, rental or workplace? RFID credentials are a practical way to hand out and reclaim access without cutting keys. Individual credentials can be revoked at the lock if lost or when a user moves on. For an overview of how RFID sits alongside PIN, fingerprint and Bluetooth entry, see the Access Methods guide, the TTLock Platform Guide, and our Smart Lock Buyers Guide.
