Carbine Wall Mounted Key Safe - Extra Large (Less Cylinder)
The Carbine CKB-W-NC-XL is an extra large wall mounted key safe supplied less cylinder - meaning the body is sold without a locking cylinder fitted, ready for the installer to specify and fit a compatible camlock to suit the site. This makes it the most flexible model in the Carbine wall mounted range for integrating into an existing key system or specifying a keyed-alike arrangement across multiple safes on one site.
The body is steel (SPCC) with a substantially larger internal cavity than the dial combination models - at 90 x 40 x 130 mm, it is designed to hold multiple keys, access cards, key fobs, or oversized key sets behind a single keyed point of control. With 96-hour salt spray corrosion resistance - double the rating of the combination models - it is built for demanding outdoor installations.
This is the right choice when combination codes are not appropriate: environments with controlled key access, keyed-alike site management, or commercial properties where physical key discipline is preferred over code-based access. Terry's team can advise on compatible camlock selection for your application.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The CKB-W-NC-XL is supplied less cylinder - the body ships without a locking mechanism fitted. This allows the installer to specify any compatible Carbine LBX series camlock to suit the site. If you need the body and camlock together in one order, the CKB-W-LBXKD-XL is the same safe supplied with an LBX camlock already included. Contact Terry's team to confirm which camlock is right for your application.
Yes - this is one of the primary reasons to choose the less-cylinder model. By specifying the same LBX series camlock across multiple units, a single key can open all safes on the site. This is commonly used in property management, facilities, and commercial environments where a master key system is already in place. A locksmith is required to specify and fit matching cylinders.
The CKB-W-NC-XL internal cavity is 90 x 40 x 130 mm - considerably larger than the combination models. The CKS-W-DI-L (Large dial model) has an internal cavity of 65 x 29 x 80 mm. The extra large format can hold substantially more keys, fobs, or access cards in a single unit.
Yes. The steel (SPCC) body is 96-hour salt spray tested - double the 48-hour rating of the combination models in this range. This reflects its design intent for demanding commercial and outdoor installations. Discreet mounting out of direct line-of-sight is recommended, as it is with all key safes. See our notes on outdoor key safe maintenance for further guidance.
The CKB-W-NC-XL uses a 4-screw wall mount with hole spacing of 40 mm wide x 61.5 mm tall. A paper drilling template is included in the box - cut it out, stick it to the wall with damage-free tape to mark the four holes accurately, drill and plug, then mount the safe. Tools required: scissors, damage-free tape, drill, drill bit, hammer, and screwdriver. Full illustrated steps are in the Brochure tab.
Additional Information
Combination key safes are excellent for residential and light-commercial shared access. Keyed models like the CKB-W-NC-XL are preferred in settings where physical key discipline matters: commercial properties with security audits, strata and body corporate buildings, facilities management teams with existing master key systems, or any site where the ability to re-key (rather than re-code) is important. A locksmith re-keys a camlock by changing the cylinder - no combination reset required.
The CKB-W-NC-XL uses steel (SPCC) rather than the aluminium alloy of the dial combination models. Steel provides greater rigidity and physical resistance, and its 96-hour salt spray rating reflects a more demanding corrosion test. The trade-off is slightly higher weight and the importance of ensuring no chips or scratches break the surface treatment in coastal environments. For general commercial and facilities use, the steel body is well suited to the application.
If a combination lock is more suitable for your application, the CKS-W-BUT-L (button combination, large) and CKS-W-DI-L (dial combination, large) are the most comparable alternatives in capacity.
