Carbine Wall Mounted Key Safe - Button Combination (Large)
The Carbine CKS-W-BUT-L is a large wall mounted key safe with a resettable 10-button mechanical combination. It provides controlled key access for shared-use situations without requiring batteries, electronics, or a smartphone of any kind.
Constructed from aluminium alloy with a zinc front panel, this model is designed for permanent outdoor or semi-exposed wall mounting. The 10-button push-button layout allows for flexible code selection and is quicker to operate than a dial model - a practical advantage for property managers, tradespeople, and short-stay hosts who need to hand over keys reliably and change codes frequently. See our guide on how mechanical key safes work for an overview of the technology.
As a fully mechanical product, the CKS-W-BUT-L has no electronic components to maintain, charge, or replace. It is one of nine models in the Carbine Key Safe Range - wall mounted and shackle mounted options are available to suit fixed or portable applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The CKS-W-BUT-L is fully mechanical - the push-button combination operates with no electronics, no batteries, and no connectivity. There is nothing to charge or replace.
Yes. The combination is user-resettable at any time using the setting key supplied in the box. Open the front door, use the setting key to rotate the yellow dial behind each chosen button 180 degrees so the arrow points away from you, then close and test. See the brochure tab for the full illustrated instructions.
Yes. The aluminium alloy and zinc construction has passed 48-hour salt spray testing. For the longest service life, mount in a sheltered position - under an eave, within a recessed panel, or in a porch - rather than in direct driving rain. Read our notes on coastal key safe maintenance for further guidance.
Button models (like this one) use numbered push buttons for faster, single-handed operation and are better suited to frequent code changes. Dial models use rotating numbered wheels and are simpler to operate in daylight for fixed-code situations. If low-light access is important, the LED dial model (CKS-W-DI-LED-L) adds illuminated dials for night-time use.
The internal cavity measures 61 x 28 x 105 mm - typically 3 to 5 standard door keys, or 1 to 2 keys with larger key fobs attached. For applications requiring storage of access cards, multiple fob sets, or larger items, consider the CKB-W-NC-XL (extra large wall mounted model, keyed access).
Additional Information
The 10-button layout is the preferred format for property managers and short-stay rental hosts who need to change codes between guests. Unlike a 4-digit dial code, a button combination can use any subset of the 10 buttons in any sequence, allowing a greater variety of codes. For further reading on how to set up key safe access for a rental property, see our guide to key safe options for occasional hosts.
Carbine recommends a discrete location away from direct line of sight - a porch, garage entry wall, or recessed gate panel works well. Avoid mounting at eye level on a street-facing wall. To mark the screw holes accurately, open the front door of the key safe, hold it in position, and use a pencil to mark through the fixing points - then drill and plug before securing. Terry's team can advise on optimal placement if you would like a professional installation.
If your access requirements are straightforward - share a code, change it occasionally, no audit trail needed - a mechanical model like the CKS-W-BUT-L is the most reliable, lowest-maintenance, and most cost-effective choice. If you need time-limited PIN codes, remote management, or access logs, a Bluetooth-connected key safe may be more appropriate. See our comparison of smart key safe options in Australia.
