Carbine Wall Mounted Key Safe - Dial Combination with LED (Large)
The Carbine CKS-W-DI-LED-L is a large wall mounted key safe with a 4-dial mechanical combination and LED-illuminated dials. It is mechanically identical to the CKS-W-DI-L, adding one feature: a dedicated Light Activation Button on the front face that illuminates the dial numbers on demand, making the key safe fully usable in low-light and night-time conditions without requiring a torch.
The aluminium alloy body and protective flip cover are unchanged from the standard large model. The 4-dial combination is factory preset at 0-0-0-0 and user-resettable via the internal Reset Button. LED illumination is powered by a CR2032 battery in a separate battery compartment accessed from inside the body - the mechanical combination remains fully operational even if the LED battery is flat.
This is the right choice for installations where night-time access is a regular requirement: a dark driveway, a side gate, an under-eave location with no ambient lighting, or a commercial property with after-hours access. For lit installations, the CKS-W-DI-L (no LED, no battery) is the simpler option.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LED illumination requires one CR2032 coin cell battery. It is not included with the standard CKS-W-DI-LED-L. The battery is housed in a separate compartment inside the safe body, accessed by loosening a small screw. Standard CR2032 cells are widely available at supermarkets, hardware stores, and electronics retailers.
No. The CR2032 powers only the LED illumination. The 4-dial mechanical combination operates completely independently of the battery. If the battery is flat or not installed, the dials still turn, the combination still opens the lock, and no access is lost - you simply use it without the light, exactly as you would use the CKS-W-DI-L.
The CKS-W-DI-LED-L arrives factory preset at 0-0-0-0. To set your own code: turn the dials to 0-0-0-0 and open the door, locate the Reset Button inside the body, press and hold it while scrambling the dials to your chosen combination, then release the button. Do not let go of the Reset Button until your new code is fully set. Full illustrated instructions are in the Brochure tab.
Yes. The aluminium alloy body and flip cover are 48-hour salt spray tested for corrosion resistance. The LED and battery compartment are housed inside the protected body cavity and are not directly exposed to weather. For best results in coastal or highly exposed locations, mount under an eave or in a recessed panel where direct rain is minimised. See our notes on coastal key safe maintenance.
The CKS-W-DI-L and CKS-W-DI-LED-L are mechanically identical in body, dimensions, flip cover, capacity, and combination reset method. The sole difference is the LED-illuminated dials and Light Activation Button on this model, which require a CR2032 battery. If your installation is in a well-lit area, the CKS-W-DI-L is the simpler, battery-free choice. If guests or users regularly access the key safe after dark without a nearby light source, the LED model is the practical upgrade.
Additional Information
The CKS-W-DI-LED-L is still a fully mechanical key safe. The LED illuminates the dial markings; it does not control access, store codes electronically, or create any dependency on power. This distinction matters for buyers comparing it with electronic key safes: there are no firmware updates, no pairing requirements, no app, and no lockout from a dead battery. The only maintenance item the LED adds over the CKS-W-DI-L is one CR2032 cell, typically lasting 12 months or more with occasional use.
Mounting hole spacing is 38 mm wide by 70 mm tall (confirmed from instruction diagram). You will need a Pozi/cross-head screwdriver, pencil, spirit level, drill bit, drill, and hammer. Mark the fixing holes from inside the open body before drilling. Carbine recommends scrambling the dials after every use to prevent an observer reading the last-used combination from the dial positions. Terry's team is available for professional installation if required.
If frequent code changes matter as much as low-light access, the CKS-W-BUT-L (10-button model) is faster to re-code and its button layout is also easier to operate by touch in the dark - each button has a distinct raised profile. That said, the dial model's LED is the cleaner solution when the primary concern is simply visibility. See our guide on key safe options for Airbnb hosts for broader context.
