McGrath MLA02-S Slim Single 12V Door Controller - Bluetooth - Wi-Fi - 200 Users
The McGrath MLA02-S is a compact standalone access controller that manages access to a single door, gate, or automated entry point. Hardwired at 12 to 18 volt DC, it controls external locking hardware - electric strikes, magnetic locks, automatic doors, garage doors, sliding gates and boom gates - via its built-in relay output. It does not include a keypad or fingerprint reader; access is managed through the McGrath Locks App via Bluetooth and optionally via a Wi-Fi gateway.
This 200-user model suits smaller residential sites, single-tenancy commercial premises, rental properties and light-duty access control installations where a compact Bluetooth controller with remote credential management and a full audit trail is required. The MLA02-S also includes a built-in doorbell contact, an auto-backlit touch keypad for PIN entry, and an exit button (REX) input for egress control.
Usually same day when ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays).
The MLA02-S does not include a latch, deadbolt, or motor. It is an access controller that drives external locking hardware via relay output. A compatible electric strike, magnetic lock, gate motor or automatic door opener must be supplied and wired separately.

The MLA02-S is a standalone hardwired controller. All users, PIN codes and RFID credentials are stored and managed within the device via the McGrath Locks App over Bluetooth. When a valid credential is presented - by keypad PIN, RFID card/fob, or app touch-to-unlock - the MLA02-S activates its internal relay to release the connected electric strike, magnetic lock, gate motor or automatic door.
A Request-to-Exit (REX) terminal allows a hardwired exit button to open the relay from the inside without presenting a credential. The integrated doorbell contact can be wired to a bell push so visitors can announce themselves. Wi-Fi remote management requires a separately purchased gateway; without one the controller operates fully offline via Bluetooth. For platform guidance see the TTLock Platform Guide.

McGrath Locks App
The MLA02-S is managed through the McGrath Locks App, McGrath's customised build on the TTLock platform. The app handles user enrolment, eKey issue and revocation, time-limited and one-time passcodes, scheduling, access logs and real-time push notifications. All management is over Bluetooth when local; add a compatible McGrath gateway for remote access over Wi-Fi from anywhere.
The McGrath Locks App is available on Apple and Android devices ![]()
(iOS 7.0 and above, Android 4.4 and above). The TTLock platform also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home via gateway. For day-to-day platform guidance see the TTLock Platform Guide, TTLock Tips and Tricks, and Using TTLock for Airbnb in Australia.

Compatible Gateways & RFID Credentials
The MLA02-S operates offline via Bluetooth and can optionally connect to any of the McGrath Wi-Fi gateway range. It reads both 125KHz EM and 13.56MHz MIFARE credentials, so existing EM cards on-site will work alongside MIFARE fobs and cards.
Unsure which gateway to choose? The Gateway Comparison chapter and G2 vs G3 vs G4 vs G5 comparison walk through the key differences.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. It is an access controller that drives a separately supplied electric strike, magnetic lock, gate motor or automatic door via relay output. Locking hardware must be wired separately.
No. The MLA02-S communicates locally via Bluetooth 4.1. Remote Wi-Fi management requires a separately purchased McGrath gateway. The Gateway Comparison chapter and G2 vs G3 vs G4 vs G5 comparison explain the options.
The MLA02-S reads both 125KHz EM cards and 13.56MHz MIFARE cards/fobs - dual frequency. This means existing 125KHz EM cards already in use on-site will work, alongside McGrath's MIFARE cards, fobs, stickers and wristbands.
Both run the same MLA02-S hardware and platform. The only difference is user capacity: this 200-user version suits smaller residential and single-tenancy sites, while the 1,000-user version is appropriate for commercial or multi-tenancy installations with more users and higher RFID credential volume. If you also need fingerprint access, see the MLA02F with Fingerprint.
Yes for most installations. The MLA02-S is a hardwired 12 to 18 volt DC device driving separate locking hardware. Correct wiring of relay (NO/NC/COM), REX, doorbell and power terminals requires electrical or locksmith trade knowledge. Our site survey and installation service is available on the Gold Coast.
McGrath smart locks and access control are backed by long-established Australian industry partners and supported locally by Terry's. Read Why Terry's, LSC and McGrath Locks Give Long-Term Confidence, or see the McGrath section of our Brand Profiles chapter.
Additional Information
The MLA02-S sits in a practical middle ground in the McGrath access-control range. Compared with the standalone keypads (TGFP43, TGFP70, RBH52), it has no built-in fingerprint reader and no integral keypad backplate for surface-flush mounting — it is a controller module that suits installations where the unit will be mounted behind a wall plate or inside a housing, or where a keypad-free solution is acceptable. Its standout features are the dual-frequency RFID reader (125KHz + 13.56MHz), the built-in doorbell contact, and the REX exit button terminal — all in a slimline 43.5mm wide package.
The 200-user capacity is the right sizing for most residential and small-commercial installations: a single gate, garage, office door, or rental property where the credential count is unlikely to exceed that threshold. If you anticipate needing more than 200 users - or higher RFID card volume - the 1,000-user version runs the same hardware and platform. For buyers comparing TTLock-based access control against other platforms, the App Platforms chapter, Which App Platform Is Right for You, and the TTLock Platform Guide are the recommended starting points. For understanding how access methods compare across the full product range, see the Access Methods chapter.
