McGrath RBH52 Standalone Access Control Keypad
The McGrath RBH52 is a fully standalone hardwired access control keypad with an integrated fingerprint reader and built-in Wi-Fi. Designed for gates, electric strikes, magnetic locks, garage doors and automated entry systems, it delivers secure multi-method access control from a compact IP66 rated housing.
Unlike a wireless accessory keypad, the RBH52 is a complete 12 volt DC powered controller with an onboard relay output (NO / NC / COM). It supports fingerprint, PIN code, RFID credentials, Bluetooth eKeys and native Wi-Fi remote management through the McGrath Locks App - with no separate gateway required.
Usually same day when ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays).

The RBH52 is a standalone access control keypad and controller. It is not a lock, and it is not a wireless accessory keypad. All PIN codes, fingerprints, RFID credentials and Bluetooth users are stored internally within the device.
When a valid credential is presented, the RBH52 activates its internal relay (NO / NC / COM terminals) to release a connected device such as an electric strike, magnetic lock, gate motor, garage door or automated door. Because the relay is built in, the RBH52 controls the locking hardware directly - it does not need to be paired to a separate smart lock to function.
Built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi allows remote management and monitoring through the McGrath Locks App. User enrolment, audit trails, schedules and access permissions are all managed within the app, without an external gateway. In short: the RBH52 stores the users, validates the credential, and triggers the relay that opens the connected lock or device.
Access Methods
New to comparing credential types? The Access Methods chapter of our Smart Lock Buyer's Guide explains where PIN, fingerprint, RFID and Bluetooth each fit.

McGrath Locks App
The RBH52 is managed through the McGrath Locks App, McGrath's customised build on the TTLock platform. The app handles user enrolment, credential issue and revocation, time-limited passcodes, scheduling, and audit trails - all over the keypad's built-in Wi-Fi, with no separate gateway or bridge needed.
The McGrath Locks App is available on both Apple and Android devices ![]()
(iOS 7.0 and above, Android 4.3 and above). For an overview of how the platform behaves day to day, see the TTLock Platform Guide and our TTLock Tips and Tricks article.
Power & Wiring
- Hardwired 12 volt DC input via pigtail connection.
- Relay output terminals: NO / NC / COM.
- Relay contact rating: less than 2A at 12 volt DC.
- Working current: less than 80mA.
- OPEN terminal supports a hardwired exit button for egress independent of the credential reader.
- Wire for either fail-safe or fail-secure operation depending on the connected lock.
Because the RBH52 is a hardwired 12 volt device with a relay driving separate locking hardware, installation is more involved than a battery smart lock. Our Installation & Troubleshooting chapter covers wiring and power-supply considerations.
Environment & Construction
- IP66 rated for exposed outdoor installations.
- Zinc alloy metal housing.
- Operating temperature: -20°C to +70°C.
- Operating humidity: 0% to 80% RH.
For background on IP ratings and Australian compliance marks, see the Australian Standards chapter.
Suitable Uses
- Access control for electric strikes and magnetic locks on doors and gates.
- Triggering gate motors, garage doors and automated doors via the relay output.
- Standalone entry points needing fingerprint, PIN and RFID credentials without a networked access-control system.
- Outdoor and exposed locations where an IP66 rated metal keypad is required.
- Sites that want remote user management over Wi-Fi without installing a separate gateway.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The RBH52 is an access control keypad and controller. It does not include an electric strike, magnetic lock, deadbolt or latch. It controls a compatible locking device wired to its relay output.
No. The RBH52 is a standalone hardwired controller. It stores users internally and directly drives a connected electric strike, magnetic lock, gate motor or garage door via its built-in relay.
No. It has built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and manages users remotely through the McGrath Locks App without an external gateway. If you are weighing gateway-based options, our Gateway Comparison chapter explains when a gateway is and is not needed.
The reader is 13.56MHz MIFARE. McGrath's MIFARE 1K cards, fobs, stickers and wristbands are enrolled directly on the keypad, up to 1,000 credentials.
Yes. The NO / NC / COM relay terminals can be wired for either fail-safe or fail-secure operation depending on the connected lock. Because it is a 12 volt hardwired install, a locksmith or electrician is recommended - see our site survey and installation service.
McGrath smart locks and access control are backed by long-established Australian industry partners and supported locally by Terry's. To understand why we back the McGrath range long-term, read Why Terry's, LSC and McGrath Locks Give Long-Term Confidence, or see the McGrath section of our Brand Profiles chapter.
Additional Information
The RBH52 sits between a simple standalone keypad and a full networked access-control head-end. It is a good fit where you want app-managed users, audit trails and remote credential control on a single door or gate, but do not want the cost or cabling of a managed system. Because it is hardwired, plan the 12 volt power supply, the lock's power draw and the fail-safe versus fail-secure behaviour before installing - the Installation & Troubleshooting chapter walks through this.
For most buyers the practical choice within the family is between the RBH52, the TGFP70 and the slimline TGFP43 keypads, or the keypad-free ML-A02 door controller where entry is by app or a separate reader. All run on the same McGrath Locks App; if you are comparing platforms across brands, our Which App Platform Is Right for You guide and the App Platforms chapter are the best starting points.
