Borg Mech-Digital Back-to-Back Adaptor Kit - Lockwood 3582 Mortice Lock - Suits 2000 and 4000 Series Keypads
The Borg BL3582KITBTB is a stainless steel back-to-back (BTB) adaptor kit for a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock already fitted to the door. It lets Borg mechanical digital keypads work that lock with a keypad on each side, so the door is opened by code from inside and outside - the double-sided keypad arrangement. The kit suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads: order two keypad-only units, such as the BL2000KSCNEW, from the compatibility table below.
Converting keeps the Lockwood lock in service. If you are new to battery-free keypad locks, start with what a mechanical digital lock is. For a keypad on the outside only, the single-keypad BL3582KIT converts the same lock, and the Scar & Adaptor Plates category is the place to browse scar and adaptor plates.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Key Features
- Back-to-back (BTB) conversion for a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock: a Borg keypad on each side of the door - see what a double-sided keypad lock is.
- Takes Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - two keypad-only units, such as the BL2000KSCNEW knob keypad or the BL4401KMGPRO lever keypad, chosen from the compatibility table.
- The code is needed from both sides of the door, so check exit requirements before fitting - no keypad on the egress side of a required exit path.
- Keeps the existing Lockwood 3582 in the door rather than replacing it - see the retrofit ecosystem.
- Codes are set in the keypads, not the kit: Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads change on the door (Borg Easicode Pro on-door change), while standard Borg keypads are re-coded On The Bench (Borg standard chambers).
- Part of a family: the single-keypad BL3582KIT converts the same lock, and BL3572KITBTB is the back-to-back kit for a Lockwood 3572 - compare them in the item code family.
- Battery-free and fully mechanical - Borg keypads need no power or wiring (how mechanical digital locks work).
Suitable Uses
- Doors already fitted with a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock where you want Borg code entry on both sides - identify the lock first with existing door hardware, including mortice lever and escutcheon and mortice longplate set-ups.
- Doors where entry and exit should both need the code, rather than code outside and a free way out inside - how double-sided keypad locks work.
- Commercial doors with an existing Lockwood 3582 - read commercial and heavy duty mechanical digital locks before choosing - it covers exit paths too.
- Moving an existing door to battery-free code entry without replacing the mortice lock - browse scar and adaptor plates in the Scar & Adaptor Plates category.
- Pairing with Borg keypad-only units from Keypads for Smartlocks - or, if the lock is being replaced instead, complete Borg locks in Digital Mechanical Locks.

What This Kit Converts and the Keypads It Takes
This kit converts a Lockwood 3582 mortice lock and takes two Borg 2000 or 4000 Series keypads, one for each side of the door. The keypad-only units below are the 2000 and 4000 Series keypads we stock - if you already own a Borg keypad, send us its model and we will confirm the match before you order. If you choose Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads, ask us to confirm them with this kit too.
Replacing the 3582 instead (a Borg keypad on the outside only):
Accessories and Spares
Thicker doors take the extended spindle - measure with our door thickness guide and ask us if unsure. The extended spindle is a special order, so read the special order note on its page before ordering. Both spindles are BDS parts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Two. Back-to-back means a Borg keypad on each side of the door, and the kit suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - so order a pair of keypad-only units, such as two BL2000KSCNEW knob keypads or two BL2301KSC lever keypads. The keypads we stock for it are in the compatibility table, and what a double-sided keypad lock is explains the set-up.
Yes - plan on it. With a Borg keypad on the inside as well as the outside, the code is needed in both directions, so this set-up does not suit a door that must let people leave freely. Read not for required exit paths and doors in required exit paths before choosing it. For a keypad on the outside only, the single-keypad BL3582KIT converts the same lock - talk to us about the exit requirements of your door before choosing either kit.
Choose this back-to-back kit when you want a keypad on both sides of the door, and BL3582KIT when you want a keypad on the outside only. Both are for the Lockwood 3582 and both suit Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads - BL3582KIT compatibility lists its keypads, and the rest of the range is in the item code family.
Order BL3572KITBTB instead - it is the back-to-back kit for the Lockwood 3572 mortice lock, while this kit is the Lockwood 3582 version. If you are not sure which lock you have, check the model on the lock, see existing door hardware, or send us photos and we will identify it.
Thicker doors take the extended spindle, so measure first. The spare spindles are the standard BLMORTSPDL and the extended BLMORTSPDL120. Measure using how to measure door thickness and send us the figure - we will confirm which spindle suits before you order.
Additional Information
- The retrofit route: adaptor kits and keypad-only units let a door keep sound existing hardware - see the retrofit ecosystem and why spare parts and support matter.
- Two keypads, two code changes: each keypad is re-coded on its own, so the keypad type matters twice over on a back-to-back door. How long a code change really takes compares the methods, and what ECP means explains the on-door option.
- Measure before you order: confirm the lock model and the door thickness, and check the door is prepared for a mortice lock (bored vs mortice door prep) - measuring the backset also helps tell a 3582 from a 3572.
- Professional fitting: if you would rather not line up two keypads on a mortice lock yourself, see when DIY is appropriate, our advice and installation service, or professional supply and installation.
- Keeping or replacing the 3582: converting keeps the Lockwood lock, while replacing it with a Borg 28mm Ali-Latch lock such as BL2002SC and the FPBLS27CONV face plate gives a keypad on the outside only. Not sure which suits? Ask for a qualified locksmith recommendation.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.

Choosing the Keypads
The kit is sold to suit Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads, and these are the keypad-only units we stock in those series. Knob keypads: BL2000KSCNEW (satin chrome), BL2000KPB (polished brass), BL2201KSCECP (Easicode Pro, satin chrome), BL2600KMG (external grade, chrome plated) and BL2601KMGPRO (Marine Grade Pro). Lever keypads: BL2301KSC (satin chrome), BL2401KSCECP (Easicode Pro) and the 4400 Series BL4401KMGPRO and BL4401KMGPROECP (Marine Grade Pro). Decoding Borg names explains Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro) and ECP, and each keypad page sets out where that keypad can be used (internal, external and marine grade options). If you already own a Borg keypad, send us its model first.
Ask us before ordering a mixed pair. The kit suits Borg 2000 and 4000 Series keypads, but a knob on one side and a lever on the other, or keypads from two different series, is a combination we would rather confirm for your door first - send both model numbers through advice and installation.
This is the 2000 and 4000 Series kit - Borg 5000 Series keypads take the 5000 Series kits. For the Lockwood 3582 that is BL50013582K, which is for outward-opening doors only, and the 5000 Series back-to-back kit in the family, BL50013572KBTB, is for the Lockwood 3572. If you are unsure which series your keypad is, send us its model.
Your Door and Lock
Go by the model number on the lock itself. Measuring the backset also helps: the 3582 is Lockwood's short backset mortice lock, while the Lockwood 3572 we list is a 60mm backset lock. How to measure backset walks through it, or send us photos of the lock and the door edge - a site survey is another option if you are local.
It is worth telling us. The outward-opening-only note in the family table belongs to BL50013582K, the 5000 Series kit for the 3582. For this back-to-back kit, send us which way your door opens and we will confirm the set-up before you order. How to determine door handing shows how to describe it.
Yes. The standard BLMORTSPDL and the extended BLMORTSPDL120 for thicker doors each have their own listing - read the special order note before ordering the extended spindle, and see the kits BLMORTSPDL suits for the rest of the mortice kit range.
Codes and Keys
Choose Easicode Pro (ECP) keypads for both sides. The code is set in each keypad, not in the kit, so a back-to-back door has two keypads to re-code. ECP keypads such as BL2201KSCECP, BL2401KSCECP and BL4401KMGPROECP change on the door, while standard Borg keypads are re-coded On The Bench (the bench method). If you expect to change codes even once a year, ECP is the better choice - do you always need ECP weighs it up, and three brands, three code change methods puts it in context. Ask us to confirm your ECP keypads with this kit before you order.
The key override conversion for the Lockwood 3582 in the Borg 2000 range is the 09351500 (BL3582KOR) adaptor plate, a separate item from this back-to-back kit. If a key override matters on this door, ask us which set-up suits before ordering - what key override is and why key override can be important explain the trade-offs.
Fitting and Other Routes
It is a job for someone experienced with mortice locks. A back-to-back conversion lines up a keypad on each face of the door with the existing lock, and a spindle in the wrong position is one of the most common installation mistakes. Read when DIY is appropriate, and if you would rather have it fitted, see advice and installation or our qualified locksmith recommendation.
Then the door ends up with a keypad on the outside only. The replace-the-lock route uses the FPBLS27CONV face plate so a Borg 28mm Ali-Latch lock, such as BL2002SC, fills the 3582 cut-out - the FPBLS27CONV FAQ covers it. For narrow aluminium frames, stile width is worth checking, and more locks for slim frames are in Door with Narrow Frame.
