Carbine CEL2-BT Digital Bluetooth Deadbolt with Key Override – Matte Black Kit with Batteries
The Carbine CEL2-BT-DBMBKIT is the Bluetooth-enabled deadbolt in the CEL2-BT range. It provides touchscreen PIN code entry, Bluetooth access via the Carbine Connect App, and mechanical key override. It stores up to 200 user PIN codes and supports up to 10 Bluetooth users per lock — all managed through the app or directly on the keypad.
Important — RFID is not available on this model. Unlike the CEL2-3IN1 deadbolt, the BT deadbolt does not support RFID cards, FOBs, wristbands, stickers, or NFC phones. If RFID access is required, select the CEL2-3IN1-DBMBKIT (PIN + RFID + Key, same Matte Black finish) instead. For Bluetooth and RFID together, the CEL2-BT leverset models support all three access types.
The Carbine Connect App does not require an internet connection or gateway — it communicates directly with the lock via Bluetooth. Remote access (unlocking from outside Bluetooth range) is not possible. For short-stay rental automations requiring remote access, see: Airbnb smart locks — do you need WiFi?
A Satin Nickel variant (CEL2-BT-DBSNKIT) is also available.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
This lock does not support RFID cards, key FOBs, wristbands, stickers, or NFC-enabled smartphones. If RFID access is required, select the CEL2-3IN1-DBMBKIT (PIN + RFID + Key, Matte Black). For RFID + Bluetooth + PIN, choose one of the CEL2-BT leverset models. See: Buyers Guide Ch03: RFID access methods

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The Carbine Connect App communicates via Bluetooth only. You must be within approximately 10 metres of the lock to control it via the app. There is no cloud connection, gateway, or internet integration. For remote access (e.g. letting in a tradesperson while you are away), share a PIN code in advance, or choose a lock that supports remote access via a gateway. See: Carbine Connect: No remote access explained · Buyers Guide Ch08: Gateway Comparison
This is a hardware design difference between the deadbolt and leverset variants of the CEL2-BT range. The BT leverset models support PIN, RFID, Bluetooth, and key. The BT deadbolt models support PIN, Bluetooth, and key only. If RFID on a deadbolt is required, use the CEL2-3IN1-DBMBKIT (PIN + RFID + Key, no Bluetooth). See: Buyers Guide Ch03: RFID access methods
Pair the lock to the Carbine Connect App by scanning the QR code inside the battery compartment. Once the Owner account is set up, additional users can be invited by sharing a QR code, SMS, or email via the app. Users can be assigned permanent, time-limited, or scheduled access. Up to 10 Bluetooth users can be active per lock. You must be within Bluetooth range to add or modify users. See: Carbine Connect: User management
No. The CEL2-BT deadbolt does not carry fire door certification and is not suitable for fire-rated door assemblies. For fire door applications, use the CEL2-3IN1 or CEL2-BT fire-rated leverset models. See: Buyers Guide Ch05: Fire Door Smart Locks
Yes. An adapter collar is included for 38mm bore hole installation. Remove the screw post and adapter collar from the assembly before fitting, as shown in the installation instructions. See: Buyers Guide Ch02: Measuring Your Door
Additional Information
The QR code in the battery compartment is the only way to pair a new device to the lock. If it is removed or damaged, pairing will no longer be possible via the app. Take a photo of the QR code immediately after installation and keep it in a safe place. For commercial or short-stay rental applications, Carbine recommends removing the QR code label from the lock after photographing it to prevent unauthorised re-pairing. See: Carbine Connect: Security
The CEL2-BT deadbolt automatically detects its handing (the direction the bolt throws) after a factory reset, but the lock must be fully installed on the door for this to work correctly. Do not test handing off the door. If the bolt behaviour is reversed after installation, perform a factory reset with the lock on the door and allow the self-calibration cycle to complete. See: Understanding door handing in Australia
The cable connecting the exterior and interior modules must be seated correctly in the designated channel of the mounting plate. Incorrect routing results in a pinched cable that can cause an unresponsive keypad, a battery cover that won’t close, or the Set button being held down permanently. If the keypad stops responding after the battery cover is installed, suspect the cable first. See: 3 common DIY smart lock installation mistakes
The auto-unlock feature uses GPS and Bluetooth to automatically unlock the lock as you approach. It requires Location permission set to “Always” (iOS) or “All the time” (Android) and the app running in the background. GPS accuracy and phone settings affect reliability. The lock uses a 200-metre departure threshold and a 10-metre Bluetooth activation range. Test thoroughly before relying on it. Auto-unlock is disabled by default. See: Carbine Connect: Auto-unlock
