Auslock Gateway G2 — Wi-Fi Remote Access (AUS‑G2)
The Auslock G2 Gateway is the plug-in bridge that converts your Bluetooth Auslock smart lock into a remotely accessible device. Without a gateway, the Auslock App controls the lock locally via Bluetooth only — useful, but limited to within about 5 m. With the G2 connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, you can lock, unlock, view the full activity log, manage credentials, and enable Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control from anywhere in the world.
The G2 is the standard residential and rental-property choice. It plugs into any USB power point and sets up via the Auslock App in minutes. One G2 supports up to 5 compatible Auslock Bluetooth locks within range.

How It Works
The G2 sits between your Auslock smart lock and your home Wi-Fi router. It connects to the router via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and communicates with the lock using Bluetooth / Zigbee. The Auslock cloud then relays commands between the G2 and the Auslock App on your phone, wherever you are. The lock itself continues to work normally via all local access methods (fingerprint, PIN, RFID, Bluetooth) whether or not the gateway is online.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many locks can one G2 gateway support?
Up to 5 compatible Auslock Bluetooth locks, provided each lock is within approximately 12 m (open space) of the gateway.
My gateway keeps losing connection — what should I check?
The most common cause is band-steering on modern routers, which prevents the G2 from maintaining a stable 2.4 GHz connection. Check that your router broadcasts a separate 2.4 GHz SSID and that the gateway is connected to it. Also confirm the gateway is within 12 m of the lock and within reliable Wi-Fi range of the router. See the smart lock FAQ on Wi-Fi dropouts for step-by-step guidance.
Do I need a gateway to use my Auslock smart lock?
No. All Auslock App locks work locally via Bluetooth without a gateway — you can unlock, manage credentials, and view history when you are within ~5 m of the lock. The gateway adds remote access from anywhere, voice control, and real-time notifications when you are away from the property. Without a gateway, adding or editing codes also requires you to be physically near the door within Bluetooth range.
The remote control button has disappeared from the app — how do I restore it?
This usually means the app cannot confirm the gateway is online or that remote permissions are active. Work through these steps: confirm you are logged in as the admin account; check the gateway has stable power; confirm your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and internet connection are working; restart the gateway by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in; then refresh the lock in the app. If the button is still missing, re-pair or re-add the gateway to the lock and Wi-Fi network. Common triggers include a router password change, the gateway being moved too far from the lock or router, or an account permission change.
I changed internet provider and the gateway stopped working — what do I do?
When the Wi-Fi name or password changes, the gateway must be reconnected to the new network. First confirm that 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is enabled on your new router (some routers default to 5 GHz only or band-steering mode). Power cycle the gateway by unplugging it for 10 seconds. In the Auslock App, open gateway settings and re-pair or re-add the gateway to the new Wi-Fi network. Wait 2–5 minutes then refresh the lock status. For rental and remote-access setups, use a stable 2.4 GHz network name and avoid frequent password changes.
What happens to the lock if the gateway loses power or internet?
The lock continues to operate normally via all local access methods — fingerprint, PIN, RFID, Bluetooth, and mechanical key are completely unaffected. Only remote app access, voice control, and remote notifications are unavailable while the gateway is offline. Guests and users with local credentials can still enter.
Can I create or change PIN codes remotely without a gateway?
No. Creating or editing codes while offsite requires a gateway to be connected and online. Without one, all credential management — adding codes, deleting codes, and issuing e-keys — requires you to be within Bluetooth range of the lock (approximately 5 m). If remote credential management is important to your setup, a gateway is essential.
Additional Information
G2 vs G3: The G2 uses Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) and is the right choice for most homes, apartments, and rental properties. The G3 uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) instead of Wi-Fi — it suits commercial buildings, IT-managed networks, and installations where a wired connection is preferred for stability. If you are unsure which to choose, the G2 is the standard residential recommendation.
Placement: Position the G2 so that it is within ~12 m (open space, no thick walls) of each lock it needs to serve, and within reliable Wi-Fi range of your router. The closer the gateway is to the lock, the stronger and more reliable the Bluetooth / Zigbee connection. For detailed placement guidance, see Chapter 08 — Gateway Comparison.
Remote credential management: With a gateway online, you can add, edit, or delete PIN codes and e-keys from anywhere. This is particularly useful for rentals — create timed guest codes before check-in, set the expiry to 30–60 minutes after checkout, and use recurring codes for cleaners. Without a gateway, all credential changes require being physically at the door within Bluetooth range.
Activity logs and notifications: When the gateway is connected, the Auslock App receives real-time unlock notifications and syncs the full activity log to the cloud. For clear audit trails, name each code and e-key in the app (for example "Guest July" or "Cleaner Weekly") so records are readable at a glance.
Managing multiple locks: One Auslock account can manage multiple locks, each with its own gateway or shared coverage where locks are within the gateway's range. Name each lock clearly in the app — property name plus door name — and use individual named codes per person rather than shared codes. This makes it straightforward to remove access for a specific person without changing credentials for everyone else.
