Auslock Super Slim S3B — Smart Mortice Lock

The Auslock Super Slim S3B is a full mortice smart lock designed for modern timber and aluminium doors where a narrow, low-profile panel is essential. At just 33 mm wide and 280 mm tall, the S3B disappears into the door stile rather than dominating it — while still delivering five access methods, Auslock App management, and optional remote access via the G2 or G3 gateway. Available in Black, White/Silver, and White/Champagne Gold.

The S3B suits both hinged and sliding doors, making it one of the more versatile entries in the Auslock range. Three square shaft sizes (50, 57, and 67 mm) are included in the box to accommodate doors across the 35–60 mm thickness range without additional hardware.

Battery, Power & Backup

  • Batteries: 4 × AAA alkaline (6 V). Note this is AAA, not AA — smaller cells than the H05/H06 series.
  • Low-battery alert: triggered when voltage drops below 4.8 V. Replace all four cells immediately — do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Emergency power: if batteries are flat, connect a USB power bank to the USB-C port on the front panel to operate the lock temporarily.
  • Keep a mechanical key outside the premises at all times as a separate failsafe.

Installation Video

Watch the S3B installation video
Auslock has put together an installation guide for the S3B — the video quality is genuinely good. The AI voiceover, however, is doing its very best and should be commended for the effort, if not quite the execution. Mute optional; the visuals carry it. Watch on YouTube →

Remote App Access & Gateway

The S3B connects to the Auslock App via Bluetooth for local control (within ~5 m). For remote access from anywhere — locking, unlocking, viewing history, managing credentials, and enabling voice control — an Auslock Gateway (sold separately) is required.

Which gateway? The G2 (Wi-Fi, USB-C) suits most homes and rentals. The G3 (PoE/Ethernet) suits commercial or IT-managed environments. The gateway connects to the lock via Bluetooth / Zigbee within ~12 m. Auslock gateways use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only — if your router merges bands, see the band-steering guide. Full G2/G3 comparison at G2 vs G3 — Auslock gateways.

Frequently Asked Questions

The lock accepts my code but the door does not open — what do I check?
Start by replacing all four AAA batteries with fresh brand-name alkaline cells. Then test with the door open for several cycles — if the lock operates smoothly open but resists when closed, the mortice body is binding against the strike plate. Even 1–2 mm of door sag or frame misalignment can cause this. Adjust the strike plate position before blaming the lock electronics.

My permanent passcode stopped working — why?
Permanent passcodes must be used at least once within 24 hours of creation, otherwise they auto-expire as a security measure. If a code was created and not tested immediately, it will need to be deleted and recreated. Create it, test it from the keypad right away, and it will then remain active indefinitely.

The fingerprint reader is inconsistent — how do I improve it?
Clean the sensor with a dry microfibre cloth. Delete the fingerprint and re-enrol, presenting the same finger at slightly different angles across 2–3 enrolment passes. Add a second finger as backup. If inconsistency continues, replace the AAA batteries — low battery voltage degrades fingerprint sensor performance before the low-voltage alarm triggers.

Passage mode is set but the door is not staying unlocked — why?
Passage mode requires a successful unlock via any method first before it activates. Touch the keypad, enter a valid code, and once the lock has operated, passage mode will take effect. To lock the door manually while in passage mode, press and hold the ★ (asterisk) key on the touchpad.

How do I set up voice control with Google or Alexa?
Voice control requires a G2 or G3 gateway to be connected and online. For Google Assistant, link your Auslock account via the ScienerSmart skill in the Google Home app (search "ScienerSmart" under Works with Google). For Amazon Alexa, enable the ScienerSmart skill in the Alexa app and authorise with your Auslock account credentials. Voice unlock requires a confirmation code — set this up in the app or Google Home settings. Locking by voice does not require a code.

How do I factory reset the lock?
Open the back panel battery cover. Hold the Reset button for 5 seconds, then enter 000# on the keypad. All users, codes, cards, and fingerprints are removed. Re-add the lock to the Auslock App as admin and recreate all credentials. Always perform a reset with the door open.

The handle has no response from outside but works from inside — motor sounds normal.
The clutch triangle (inside the spindle hub) is installed in the wrong orientation. Remove the front panel, check the clutch direction marking, refit with the arrow aligned correctly per the installation diagram, and retest.

How many wrong PIN attempts before lockout?
Five consecutive wrong entries lock the keypad for 5 minutes. All other access methods — fingerprint, RFID, Bluetooth app, and mechanical key — continue to work during the lockout period.

Additional Information

App platform: The S3B runs on the Auslock App — a dedicated platform separate from TTLock or Tuya. The app supports iOS and Android, multiple admin levels, e-key sharing, scheduled access, and full unlock records. Remote access and voice control require an Auslock G2 or G3 gateway. Not sure which platform suits your situation? See Chapter 15 — Choosing the right smart lock app platform.

Managing multiple locks and users: One Auslock account can manage multiple locks. Name each lock clearly in the app — for example, "Front Door" or "Unit 3." Create individual named codes for each person (guest, cleaner, staff) rather than sharing a single code. This makes the activity log readable and allows you to remove one person's access without changing everyone else's credentials. A single RFID card or fob can be enrolled on multiple locks by adding it to each lock individually in the app.

Passcode management tips: Permanent codes must be tested within 24 hours of creation or they auto-expire. Timed codes work well for guests — set the start time to check-in and expiry to 30–60 minutes after checkout. Verify the timezone setting in the app matches your property location before saving timed codes. For cleaners or recurring contractors, use a Cyclic/Recurring code set to their regular access window.

Battery notes: The S3B uses AAA cells (not AA). Use brand-name alkaline only — do not mix old and new cells and do not use rechargeable cells. The main causes of shorter-than-expected battery life are door misalignment causing the motor to strain, and the use of mixed or low-quality batteries. If the lock sounds laboured during operation, test with the door open — if smooth open but difficult closed, the strike plate needs adjustment before the next battery replacement.

IP55 and outdoor use: The S3B is rated IP55 (per catalogue) — suitable for sheltered outdoor doors such as covered entries and porticos. Avoid direct rain, heavy splash, or prolonged high humidity. Not rated for fully exposed outdoor gate use. See Chapter 11 — IP ratings explained.

Lifespan: See how long digital door locks last in Australian conditions.
