Auslock Handy Series H13 — Smart Lever Handle Lock (Black)

The Auslock H13 is a motorised smart lever handle lock designed for timber and aluminium entry doors. It integrates the keypad, fingerprint reader, and lever handle into a single exterior assembly — replacing a standard lever set without additional drilling on most residential door preparations. The tubular latch is adjustable between 60 mm and 70 mm backset, and the lever handle direction is independently adjustable on both panels to suit left- or right-hand door swing.

The H13 provides five access methods — Bluetooth app, PIN code, RFID card, fingerprint (optional), and mechanical key override — with remote access available via the optional Auslock G2 or G3 gateway. A 16-digit scramble code function prevents PIN identification from shoulder-surfing, and a Type-C emergency power port allows a power bank to operate the lock if batteries are fully depleted.

Battery, Power & Backup

  • Batteries: 4 × AA alkaline (6 V) — not included. Alkaline only — lithium and rechargeable batteries must not be used.
  • Install order: complete the full mechanical installation — latch, exterior assembly, interior assembly — then install batteries as the final step with the door open.
  • Low-battery alert: triggered below 4.8 V. Replace all four batteries immediately. See what to expect from battery life in practice.
  • Type-C emergency power: connect a 5 V power bank to the exterior port if batteries are fully flat. This powers the lock temporarily — it does not charge the batteries. Keep a power bank accessible outside the premises.
  • Mechanical key override: insert key and rotate 90° counter-clockwise to unlock. 2 keys included — keep one outside the premises at all times.

Remote App Access & Gateway

The H13 connects to the Auslock App via Bluetooth for local control (within ~5 m). The lock communicates directly with your phone without any network involvement in standalone Bluetooth mode. For remote access from anywhere — locking, unlocking, viewing history, and managing credentials — an Auslock Gateway is required.

Which gateway? The G2 (Wi-Fi, USB-C) suits most homes and rentals. The G3 (PoE/Ethernet) suits commercial or IT-managed environments. The gateway must be within ~12 m of the lock. Auslock gateways use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only — if your router merges bands, see the band-steering guide. Full comparison: G2 vs G3 — Auslock gateways.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set the latch backset?
Measure your door backset before installation. The tubular latch adjusts between 60 mm and 70 mm — push the latch tongue to select the correct length. Set the backset before fitting the latch into the door. Getting this wrong is one of the most common install errors — confirm your measurement first.

How do I adjust the handle direction?
Both the exterior and interior handles are independently adjustable using the supplied 3 mm Allen wrench. Loosen the handle screw, rotate to the correct direction for your door handing, then retighten. Do this before fitting the assemblies to the door. If the lock/unlock action is opposite to what you expect after pairing, also check the opening direction setting in the Auslock App.

What is the scramble code (vague code)?
The H13 supports up to a 16-digit entry string. Your real 4–9 digit PIN can be embedded anywhere within that string — the lock recognises it regardless of the surrounding digits. This prevents observers from identifying your code from watching finger movements or from wear patterns on the keypad buttons.

My permanent passcode stopped working — why?
Permanent passcodes must be used at least once within 24 hours of creation, otherwise they auto-expire as a security measure. Create the code, test it from the keypad immediately, and it will remain active indefinitely.

How do I lock the door when auto-lock is off or in passage mode?
Press and hold the * key on the keypad. This manually engages the lock regardless of the auto-lock or passage mode setting.

How many wrong PIN attempts before lockout, and for how long?
Five consecutive wrong entries lock the keypad for 5 minutes. All other access methods — fingerprint, RFID, Bluetooth app, and mechanical key — continue to work during the lockout period.

How do I set up voice control with Google or Alexa?
Voice control requires a G2 or G3 gateway to be online. For Google Home setup, search "ScienerSmart" under Works with Google in the Google Home app and link your Auslock account. For Amazon Alexa setup, enable the ScienerSmart skill in the Alexa app and authorise with your Auslock credentials. Voice unlock requires a confirmation code set in the app. Locking by voice does not require a code.

The latch does not catch the strike — what do I check?
First confirm the backset is set correctly (60 mm or 70 mm to match your door prep). Then check strike plate alignment — even 1–2 mm of door sag can prevent the latch from engaging the strike cleanly. Adjust the strike plate position and test again. See also Chapter 12 — misalignment as an install mistake.

The touchpad has no response after installation — what do I check?
Confirm the AA batteries are installed with correct polarity and have sufficient charge. Check the wire connection between the exterior and interior panels. If both are correct, check for pinched wiring inside the door prep, then re-wire and reinstall.

How do I factory reset the lock?
Open the back panel battery cover, then hold the Reset button for 5 seconds. When prompted, enter 000# on the keypad. All users, codes, cards, and fingerprints are removed. Re-add the lock to the Auslock App as admin and recreate all credentials. Always reset with the door open.

Additional Information

Fingerprint is an optional feature: Confirm whether the fingerprint module is included in your specific unit before ordering. Fingerprints are enrolled via the Auslock App while standing beside the lock. Each fingerprint can be set as permanent, timed, or recurring. Enrol the same finger at 2–3 different angles for more reliable recognition. For common fingerprint failure modes and tips, see Ch 03 — fingerprint access.

App platform: The H13 runs on the Auslock App — a dedicated platform separate from TTLock or Tuya. The app supports iOS and Android, multiple admin levels, e-key sharing, scheduled access, and full unlock records. Remote access requires an Auslock G2 or G3 gateway. Not sure which platform suits your situation? See Chapter 15 — Choosing the right smart lock app platform.

Managing multiple users and locks: One Auslock account manages multiple locks. Create individual named codes for each person — guest, cleaner, staff — rather than sharing one code. This keeps the activity log readable and allows you to remove one person's access without changing everyone else's credentials.

DIY installation suitability: The H13 is designed to fit standard lever set door preparations without additional drilling, making it one of the more DIY-accessible Auslock models. That said, confirm your door prep format before ordering — the adjustable backset only covers 60 mm and 70 mm, so a door prepped for a different backset will need adjustment. Read the three most common DIY install mistakes before starting.

Lifespan and maintenance: Installation quality has the greatest impact on smart lock longevity. A latch that must force against a misaligned strike on every operation will drain batteries faster and wear the motor sooner. Check latch-to-strike alignment at installation and after any door or frame movement.
