Burg-Wachter Key Safe 30 - Wall-Mount Combination Key Safe with Shutter Flap, 9cm Capacity
The Burg-Wachter Key Safe 30 is a wall-mount, battery-free key safe with a sliding protective shutter flap over the dials. Built from die-cast zinc with a 4-digit resettable mechanical combination, it provides 10,000 possible access codes, holds multiple standard keys, and installs on any solid wall using the included screws and plugs.
The Key Safe 30 is the entry point in the Burg-Wachter range for models with weather protection. Sliding the shutter down reveals the dial face and a release button; the flap protects the dials from dust, dirt, and direct rain when closed. Internally, the unit includes both a key hook and a magnetic pad, making it more versatile than the hook-only Key Safe 10 or the magnetic-only Key Safe 20. Keys up to 9cm in length can be accommodated.
No power source is required. The mechanical combination operates independently of Wi-Fi, batteries, and apps.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Key Safe 30 ships with the combination set to 0-0-0-0. Change this to a personal code before putting the unit into service.
Slide the shutter flap downward to expose the dials and the release button. Rotate all four dials to your combination, then grasp the sides of the top section and pull the lid toward you. To lock, close the lid and scramble the dials by rotating them away from the set combination.
Yes. Open the safe, slide the reset pin left and down as shown in the instruction diagram, set your new combination, return the pin to its original position, then test the new code before closing. The Key Safe 30 reset process does not require removing a plastic cap - that step applies only to the Key Safe 10 and 20.
There is no override or emergency access method. If the code is lost, the safe cannot be opened. Record the combination and store it separately before placing the unit into service.
The interior is 65mm wide and 45mm high, with both a hook and a magnetic pad. It comfortably holds multiple standard house keys. For a larger interior suited to bulkier keyrings or longer keys up to 11cm, the Key Safe 40 provides more space.
Additional Information
The Key Safe 30 uses a simplified reset mechanism. Open the safe, slide the reset pin left and down per the arrow on the instruction diagram, set your new combination, and return the pin. There is no plastic cap to remove - this differs from the Key Safe 10 and 20. Follow the included instruction sheet carefully and test the new code before closing.
Fix to a solid masonry, brick, or timber wall using all four corner fixing holes. Drill 6mm holes, insert the supplied plugs, and secure with the supplied screws. Choose a discreet location with adequate light for the authorised user to read the dials. The shutter flap provides additional weather protection, but avoid positioning directly under a downpipe or in a sustained water flow zone. For practical guidance on placement and model selection, see our guide to secure key storage.
Rotate all four dials weekly to keep them moving freely. Wipe the body with a dry cloth periodically. Keep the shutter flap closed when the unit is not in use to protect the dials. If dials become stiff, apply a small amount of dry graphite lubricant sparingly to the dial spindles. Do not use oil-based lubricants.
The Key Safe 30 and Key Safe 40 share the same shutter flap design and dual hook-and-magnetic-pad interior. The Key Safe 40 is wider and deeper - 80mm interior width vs 65mm, and up to 11cm key length vs 9cm. If your keys are under 9cm and interior space is not a constraint, the Key Safe 30 is the more compact and practical choice.
For short-stay rental operators needing remote code management or audit trails, consider the Igloohome Keybox 3 (Bluetooth, algoPIN, IP66) or the ABUS Key Garage KG787BTC (Bluetooth, app-managed). Both require battery power. See Chapter 07 - Airbnb and Short-Stay Rentals for a structured comparison.
Burg-Wachter key safes are covered by a 2-year warranty from the date of sale to the end user. The warranty does not extend to damage caused by misuse, vandalism, accidental damage, or improper installation. Contact Terry's Gold Coast Smart Locks to initiate a warranty claim. This warranty operates alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
