Important:
These mortice types are not interchangeable. Door type, pitch, backset and lock geometry must match the lock system being installed. Sliding hook mortices are for sliding doors only, while the 6068 smart mortice uses a different 68mm pitch and should not be confused with standard 85mm Euro mortice systems. The Fortress Innovative Mortice is an auto-locking body specific to Vault push-pull smart locks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 85mm pitch mean?
It is the distance between the handle spindle centre and the Euro cylinder centre - 85mm on this range. Pitch must match the smart lock or handle set being installed.
How do I choose the correct backset?
Backset is the distance from the door edge to the centre of the handle. See our guide on how to measure backset and Chapter 02 - Measuring Your Door.
Is this compatible with Vault smart locks?
Yes, where the lock specifies an 85mm-pitch Euro mortice. The Vault Eclipse ships with the 6085 option; always confirm the correct backset and pitch for your specific lock model before ordering.
Can this be used on sliding doors?
No. This mortice is for hinged and swinging doors only. Sliding doors require the Vault Sliding Hook Mortice instead.
Is the latch reversible?
Yes. The latch can be reversed to suit left or right hand door installations.

Additional Information

Correct Use: This mortice is intended for hinged swing doors and is not suitable for sliding or frameless glass doors.
Backset Selection: Incorrect backset selection is a common cause of installation issues - always measure from door edge to handle centre. See Chapter 02 - Measuring Your Door, our note on choosing the wrong backset, and the backset mistake in Chapter 12.
System Compatibility: This lock follows standard 85mm-pitch Euro mortice geometry and differs from specialised smart-lock mortice systems such as the 6068 (68mm pitch) configuration.
Installation: Accurate door preparation is required for correct alignment of latch, cylinder and furniture. See our guide to common hardware and backset selection mistakes.
Related Vault Mortices and Kits: Sliding doors use the Vault Sliding Hook Mortice; smart-mortice locks use the Vault 6068 Mortice; and for double-door conversions see the Vault Rebate Kit.
