The Yale Unity Slim Stainless Steel Plate Strike Assembly (part number YURSSL-STRIKE-01) is the complete jamb-side strike for a Yale Unity Slim Smart Lock. It is the part the lock's bolts actually enter, and it is supplied as an assembly rather than a bare plate.
Three things come in the pack and each does a different job. The stainless steel strike plate is the visible face on the jamb, 200mm tall with two bolt apertures. The dust box sits behind it inside the frame, giving the bolts somewhere clean to land and stopping debris collecting in the mortice. The magnet is included in the strike, so the lock's door position sensor has what it needs without any separate part.
Yale describes it as a generic strike suiting most standard applications. It is non-handed, so one part covers left and right hand doors, and it is made in New Zealand alongside the rest of the Unity Slim range.

This is a Yale Unity Slim part. Its aperture positions are cut for the Unity Slim's bolt geometry and will not suit the Yale Unity Entrance, the Yale Unity Security Screen Door lock or another brand's lock. Which Strike Part Do You Need
Yale publishes two jamb-side parts with sequential numbers that do entirely different jobs, and they are routinely ordered the wrong way round. The question that separates them is simple: is the existing strike staying in the frame?

Fitting and Compatibility
The diagram below shows where the strike sits within a complete Unity Slim assembly. The highlighted item on the left is the jamb-side hardware; the remaining items are the internal escutcheon, spindle and fixing screws, the mortice lock body, and the external keypad escutcheon with lever.
- Fit the dust box first, then the plate. The box has to sit square in the frame mortice before the plate is screwed over it, or the bolts will foul on the box edge rather than entering cleanly.
- Check the bolts enter both apertures without touching. The Unity Slim throws at two points, so test both, not just the one at handle height.
- Confirm the lock reports a closed door before finishing. The magnet is in this strike, so if the sensor is not reading, strike alignment is the first thing to check.
- Pack the strike rather than forcing the door. If the plate sits proud or shy of the frame face, use a strike packer in 2mm or 3mm. Do not resolve a gap problem by over-tightening the fixings.
- Non-handed, so no left or right selection is required - but the plate is stepped, so check it is the right way up against the drawing before marking out.
- Test from a normal close, not a firm push. A strike that only works when the door is pulled hard against the seal will generate service calls once the weather changes.

Order this one if you are fitting a new strike or replacing the existing one, because the magnet is included. Order the Heavy Duty Magnet Housing Assembly only if the frame already carries a strike you intend to keep and the magnet alone needs positioning. The decision table above sets both cases out side by side.
Included. Yale specifies the magnet as part of this assembly, which is what makes it a complete jamb-side solution rather than a bare plate. That is also why a standard new installation does not need a separate magnet housing.
It lines the frame mortice behind the plate, giving the bolts a clean cavity to enter and keeping dust, render and insect debris out. On a multipoint lock that throws at two points, a fouled cavity is a common cause of a bolt that will not fully extend, so the box is doing real work rather than being packaging.
Yale describes it as a generic strike suiting most standard applications, and the plate is 200mm by 36mm at its widest and only 1.5mm thick. Check your existing mortice against the drawing above before ordering. If the plate sits proud or shy once fitted, the strike packer corrects it without re-routing.
The visible plate is stainless steel; the dust box behind it, hidden inside the frame, is black. The product name reflects the range colour rather than the plate finish. Additional Information
- The part numbers are misleading and the range is small enough to memorise. STRIKE-01 is the strike; STRIKE-02 is the magnet housing and is not a strike at all. Two sequential numbers, two entirely different jobs. Read the decision table before ordering either.
- The strike is where a multipoint lock is won or lost. The Unity Slim throws bolts at two points, so a strike that is fractionally out will bind one bolt while the other seats correctly. That reads as an intermittent fault rather than an alignment problem, which is why it is worth testing both positions from a normal close.
- A misaligned strike costs battery life, not just convenience. Every cycle where a bolt drags on the plate edge draws more current. If a Unity Slim is falling well short on battery life, check the jamb side before suspecting the lock. The Unity Slim battery and power section sets out what normal looks like.
- Order the jamb side as a set on a retrofit. A Unity Slim going into an existing frame often needs this strike plus a packer, and the door face may need the retrofit scar plate kit. Working the list out before the van leaves saves a second visit.

Choosing between the two strike parts
Because Yale numbered them as a jamb-hardware pair rather than by function. YURSSL-STRIKE-01 is the actual strike - the plate the bolts enter, complete with dust box and magnet. YURSSL-STRIKE-02 is the heavy duty magnet housing, which carries only the door position sensor magnet and is fitted alongside a strike that is already in the frame. Sequential numbers, different jobs.
You would not normally need to. This assembly already carries a magnet, so adding a separate magnet housing to the same door duplicates the function. The two parts are alternatives for different jobs, not companions.
It depends on what is already in the frame. If the existing strike is a Unity Slim strike with its magnet intact, the fault is alignment rather than a missing part - check the door-to-jamb gap first. If the existing strike is an older or third-party strike with no magnet, the magnet housing is the fix. If the strike itself is damaged or corroded, replace it with this assembly and get a new magnet in the process.
Fitting the strike
Dust box into the frame mortice first, seated square and to full depth. Then the strike plate over it, aligned to the mortice edges. Then fixings, snug rather than fully tight. Close the door, test both bolt positions and the sensor reading, then tighten. Fitting the plate before the box is seated is the usual reason a bolt catches on an edge.
Usually not on a Unity Slim replacement, because this is the standard strike for the range and the plate is only 1.5mm thick. Coming from a different lock is a different question - measure your existing mortice against the drawing before ordering. Guidance on measuring a door and its hardware is in Chapter 02.
Pack the mortice rather than forcing the door or over-tightening. The Unity Slim strike packer comes in 2mm and 3mm for exactly this. A proud strike stops the door seating against the seal, which then reads as a door-ajar fault at the lock even though the sensor and magnet are both fine.
Troubleshooting
Very likely. A multipoint lock is far less forgiving of a strike that is fractionally out of square than a single-point lock is, because both bolt positions have to line up from the same plate. Check each aperture separately with the door closed, and look for burnishing on the plate edge where a bolt has been dragging.
Yes. Every cycle where a bolt drags against the plate edge draws more current than a clean throw, and the lock has no way to tell you that mechanically. If battery life is well short of expectation and the lock is otherwise healthy, the jamb side is worth checking before anything is replaced. Chapter 12 covers this under symptom-to-fix troubleshooting.
The plate is stainless, which is the right specification for an exposed jamb edge, but no strike is immune to salt and grit working into the mortice behind it. The dust box helps by keeping the cavity clean. If a strike is being replaced early on a coastal installation, it is worth checking whether debris in the mortice was the real cause. - Contact Gold Coast Smart Locks - operated by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries - as your authorised retailer, and follow the steps on our Returns & Warranty page.
- Return the product securely packed to protect it in transit, together with your proof of purchase and your name, address, email and phone number.
- ASSA ABLOY assesses the claim. Where the warranty applies, they will (at their option) repair the product, replace it with the same or closest equivalent Yale product, or refund the price you paid.
Claims made directly to ASSA ABLOY require a Case Number from their Customer Service Department before goods are returned - products sent back without a Case Number may not be accepted. Costs of returning a product are the customer's responsibility.

- Normal wear and tear.
- Misuse, abuse, accident, or use outside Yale's published technical specifications.
- Improper maintenance or neglect, or failure to follow ASSA ABLOY's care and maintenance recommendations.
- Use of batteries other than those specified; batteries themselves are not covered.

- Custom orders made to components or specifications supplied by someone other than ASSA ABLOY.
- Goods that were not new when purchased, second-hand goods, or products not originally sold in Australia through ASSA ABLOY or an authorised reseller.
- Products with brands, marks, plates, numbers or other ASSA ABLOY information defaced or removed.
- Use of substitute, replacement or non-genuine ASSA ABLOY parts or cylinders.
- Corrosive exposure, including vapours, chemicals, abrasive compounds, contamination, pollution, coastal air, salt spray and high humidity.
- Removal, refitment or replacement of products, and any associated charges.
Important Notes
Batteries are consumable and are not covered. Cosmetic finishes and appearance are excluded. Stainless steel resists staining but is not stain-proof - tea staining is a natural process and is not covered where cleaning and maintenance guidelines have not been followed.
Damage from salt spray, coastal air, high humidity and other corrosives is excluded. In Gold Coast and coastal locations, choose a suitable finish and follow the care and maintenance guidance to protect your hardware and preserve your cover.
