Yale 530 Series Tubular Deadlatch - 70mm Backset - Satin Chrome
The Yale 530 Series Tubular Deadlatch is a heavy-duty mechanical latch prepared for a 70mm backset. It is the 70mm latch supplied separately for the Yale Unity Entrance Lock range, and it is the same 530-platform latch used across Lockwood 530, 930 and 950 door hardware. It carries the 8mm square spindle, strike and fixing screws needed to complete a 70mm backset installation.
This is a self-latching cylindrical deadlatch: the bolt latches automatically as the door closes and includes a deadlocking function for improved security performance. It is a mechanical component only - it does not add electronic, app or keypad functionality on its own, but it is the correct latch platform for the Yale Unity Entrance locks that do.
Importantly, this latch is fire rated to two hours, which is why it is the specified 70mm latch for the fire-rated variants of the Yale Unity Entrance range as well as the standard model. It is finished in Satin Chrome.
Estimated warehouse dispatch is 3 business days.
This deadlatch is fire rated to two hours, making it the correct 70mm latch for fire-rated Yale Unity Entrance installations. Fire performance always depends on the complete certified door set - see our guide to fire door smart locks and the AS1905.1 fire-rated certification reference for what to confirm before drilling a fire door.

Yale Unity Compatibility
This latch is a mechanical deadlatch only. It does not provide smart functionality; it completes the Yale Unity Entrance locks that use a 70mm tubular deadlatch platform. The table below lists compatibility that is confirmed against the Yale Smart Locks catalogue and the manufacturer specification.
Beyond the Yale Unity range, this is the same 530-series tubular deadlatch used across Lockwood hardware. It suits Lockwood 530, 930 and 950 series, and is also suitable for 530DX and Nexion door preparation. A closely related 530-latch product is the Lockwood Cortex CTX530 digital lockset, which uses a 530 latch at 60mm backset.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. This is a mechanical latch only. It must be used with a compatible Yale Unity Entrance lock to provide smart functionality.
Only if the door is prepared for a 70mm backset. Door preparation must be checked before installation - see our guide to measuring backset and the how-to on measuring your lock backset.
It is the 70mm latch supplied separately for the Yale Unity Entrance Lock, the Unity Entrance Lock Fire Rated and the Fire Rated with DDA Lever variant. It is not used by the Unity Slim (multi-point) or the Unity Screen Door Lock.
Yes. The latch is fire rated to two hours, which is why it is specified for the fire-rated Yale Unity Entrance locks. Fire compliance always depends on the complete certified door set - read fire door types and certification and which locks are compliant on apartment fire doors before proceeding.
This is the 530-series tubular deadlatch, so it retrofits Lockwood 530, 930 and 950 series, plus 530DX and Nexion door preparation, provided the door is prepared for a 70mm backset. Confirm the existing backset before ordering.
Additional Information
- This is a mechanical component. A tubular deadlatch is the latch that sits in the edge of the door - see what a latch is if you are unsure which part of your hardware this replaces.
- Backset is the critical measurement here. This latch is fixed at 70mm, so the door must be prepared (or preparable) for a 70mm backset. Our guide to measuring your door backset walks through how to check.
- Commonly specified in Australian installations when fitting or retrofitting a Yale Unity Entrance Lock, or when replacing the deadlatch on Lockwood 530, 930, 950, 530DX or Nexion hardware.
- Because this latch is fire rated, it is often installed on fire-rated doors. Before drilling any fire door, confirm the certified door set and be aware of the asbestos risk in older apartment fire doors. A fire-rated deadlatch is often the secondary lock in a compliant arrangement - see secondary locks and the one-penetration principle.
- For background on the Yale range this latch supports, see our honest guide to Yale smart locks in Australia.
- Always confirm door preparation, backset and lock platform before ordering.
