McGrath Locks F54 ANSI Mortice Lock - Grade 1 Stainless Steel - 70mm Backset
The McGrath Locks F54 ANSI mortice lock is a Grade 1, heavy-duty commercial lock designed to suit high-traffic applications and integration with McGrath smart lock systems such as the Bardon. Constructed from stainless steel and cycle tested for long-term durability, the F54 is intended for use in demanding commercial and compliant fire door installations when installed as assessed.
The F54 includes a mechanical deadbolt (1 inch throw) in addition to the latch. Where a deadbolt is not required - particularly on smart lock or fire-rated installs - the latch-only F05 ANSI mortice is usually the simpler choice (see the F05 vs F54 comparison below). Cylinders are supplied separately (threaded Kawneer mortice cylinder).
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays)
Grade 1 and cycle tested to 1,000,000 operations, the F54 is built for high-traffic commercial doors. For how lockset grading works, see Chapter 11 - Australian Standards & grading.
Fire Door Use
- Used as part of fire-assessed smart lock and doorset configurations in accordance with AS 1530.4 and AS 1905.1.
- Fire performance is system-based and dependent on the doorset and hardware configuration used.
- Deadbolt function must be disabled when installed on fire doors.
For fire-door compliance context, see fire door types and certification, what is compliant on apartment fire doors, Chapter 05 - Fire Door Smart Locks and Chapter 11 - AS 1905.1.

F05 vs F54 ANSI Mortice Locks - What's the Difference and Which One Do You Need?
The difference between the McGrath F05 and F54 ANSI mortice locks is simple:
- F05 is a latch-only mortice lock with no deadbolt.
- F54 (this product) includes a mechanical deadbolt in addition to the latch.
If you are installing a smart lock or fitting hardware to a fire-rated door, the F05 is usually the safer and simpler choice. The F54 should only be used where a mechanical deadbolt is specifically required and the compliance implications are understood.
