Kidde KeySafe P500 with Alarm Sensor - Titanium (5 Key Capacity)

The Kidde KeySafe P500 (SU2048) is the most secure mechanical key safe in the Kidde AccessPoint range. Its triple-wall vault construction — heavy zinc-alloy shell reinforced with stainless steel plates — provides significantly greater resistance to prying, hammering, chiselling, and drilling than standard single or double-wall key safes. The P500 is certified to LPS 1175 Level 1 and is the only model in the Kidde KeySafe range to carry a security certification.

This listing is for the P500 with integrated alarm switch (SU2048). The alarm interface allows a security system to monitor when the key safe is opened or closed, and to trigger an alert if the unit is removed from the wall or left open. The weather cover is included. One practical application is storing the mechanical key override for a smart lock outside the home in a monitored, high-security location.

Key Features

  • Triple-wall vault construction - heavy zinc-alloy shell with integrated stainless steel reinforcement plates.
  • Long-travel bolt locking mechanism with clutch handle - resists forced opening.
  • Stainless steel button plate - scratch and fingerprint resistant.
  • Integrated alarm switch (reed switch) - connects to a security system for monitored access.
  • Certified to LPS 1175 Level 1 - only certified model in the Kidde KeySafe range.
  • 4,096 possible combination codes (vs 1,024 on S5/S6/S7 models).
  • Code tamper protection.
  • Stores 5+ keys.
  • Integrated weather cover included.
  • Rated to 7,500 open/close operations.
  • No battery, no electronics - fully mechanical operation.
  • Titanium finish.

Alarm Sensor Interface

SU2048 includes a reed switch alarm sensor. The alarm interface allows a compatible security system to monitor the open/close status of the key safe and to trigger an alert if the unit is removed from the wall or left in the open position. The sensor is a recessed press-fit reed switch (R1075-N, 3/8 in diameter). Connection to your alarm system or monitoring panel requires a licensed security installer. The P500 without alarm (002047) is a separate product — SU2048 is specifically the alarm-integrated version.

Suitable Uses

  • Smart lock override key storage. If your smart lock has a mechanical key override, the P500 stores it outside — accessible when the battery dies — in the most secure mechanical key safe in the Kidde range, with optional alarm monitoring. Read our guide to override key storage.
  • Commercial premises, offices, and after-hours delivery where key access needs to be logged or monitored by a security system.
  • Remote sites, plant rooms, equipment storage, and storage buildings where high-security key access is required.
  • Property management and emergency services access where a security-certified key safe is specified.
  • Residential applications requiring a higher-security key safe than standard S5/S6 models.
  • Alarm-monitored installations where any key safe tampering or inadvertent open-and-leave events must trigger an alert.

Available Finish Options

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the alarm sensor work?
The alarm sensor is a reed switch that connects to an existing security system or monitoring panel. When the key safe is opened, closed, removed from the wall, or left open, the reed switch state changes and the connected alarm system can trigger an alert or log the event. Connection requires a licensed security installer.
What is the difference between SU2048 and SU2047 (002047)?
Both are the same P500 body in Titanium. SU2047 (002047) does not include the alarm switch. SU2048 (002048) includes the reed switch alarm sensor for connection to a security system. If alarm monitoring is not required, 002047 is the lower-cost option.
Why does the P500 have 4,096 combinations when other models have 1,024?
The P500 uses a more complex pushbutton mechanism than the S5/S6/S7 models. The higher number of possible codes gives additional security for commercial, monitored, and high-traffic installations.
What happens if the handle is forced?
The P500's clutch mechanism prevents forced opening. If the handle is turned forcefully without the correct combination entered, the handle slips and rotates without opening the safe. Turn it back to the closed position and it re-latches normally.
Can I use the P500 to store a smart lock's mechanical override key?
Yes - and the P500 is the highest-security option for this purpose in the Kidde range. Read more about storing the override key outside the home in our mechanical key override guide.

Additional Information

The override key must live outside the home. Store the smart lock override key in a key safe mounted outside the property - not inside. A key safe inside is inaccessible if the smart lock fails and you are locked out.
Not sure whether a key safe or a key hider suits your situation? A key safe provides a combination-locked box for a key. A key hider conceals a key without a lock. For a broader overview of mechanical key safe formats in Australia, see our key storage guide. For any application where security or monitoring is required, a key safe is the appropriate choice.
Alarm integration requires a licensed security installer. The reed switch output needs to be connected to a compatible alarm panel or monitoring system. If you need advice on integration, contact a licensed security installer in your area.
GE Security and Supra branded versions are the same product. The Kidde KeySafe P500 was previously distributed under GE Security and Supra brand names. The body, construction, and alarm sensor are unchanged across all three brand names.
