FORGE DBV1 Video Doorbell Smart Deadbolt - 3D Face Recognition, TTLock
At A Glance
(Add G5 Gateway)
The FORGE DBV1 Video Doorbell Smart Deadbolt (FELKDB1PBA) is a keyless deadbolt with a 2 MP video doorbell camera and 3D face recognition built into the outside panel. It also opens with a fingerprint (the reader is concealed in the panel), a PIN code, an RFID card, the TTLock app or a mechanical key, and it suits timber or aluminium doors 35-110 mm thick. Like its sister the DBT1, it is a deadbolt only - no handle and no latch - so it is normally fitted above the door's existing handle set.
It runs on TTLock. At the door it talks to your phone over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres; add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway (sold separately) for remote management and unlocking over Wi-Fi from anywhere. When someone presses the doorbell, the owner gets a visitor call in the TTLock app and can see who is there through the camera; registered users simply walk up, and the built-in radar wakes the face camera as they approach.
Power comes from a 5,000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery that FORGE rates at 5 to 10 months, recharged out of the lock through its own USB port, and a USB-C emergency port beside the keyhole covers you if it runs flat. For the camera to work well, FORGE recommends mounting the lock at least 1.1 m above the ground. The outside panel is rated IP66. It is made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, and carries FORGE's 2-year warranty. Don't need the camera or face recognition? The FORGE DBT1 is the same deadbolt without them.
Usually ships in 24 hours.

Access Methods

TTLock App
Set the lock up in the free TTLock app, available for iOS and Android ![]()
. Choose Australia as your location when you sign up, give the app full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. Until the first administrator is added the lock is in its factory state - the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open it - so pair it as soon as it is fitted. FORGE's TTLock pairing guide walks through the steps; keep your phone within 2 metres of the lock while pairing. The introduction pages of the manual cover the same ground for this model.
TTLock is one of the two global smart lock platforms - how it compares with Tuya is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison, and the wider TTLock range in Chapter 14 - the TTLock hardware ecosystem. The app itself is covered in the TTLock app user manual.
At the door the DBV1 is managed over Bluetooth when your phone is nearby - see what a TTLock lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway as the option for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking: with it plugged in nearby you can unlock, change codes and check records from anywhere - Bluetooth vs gateway in Chapter 14. Remote Unlock has to be switched on in the app and Power Saving Mode turned off.

Video Doorbell and 3D Face Recognition
The outside panel carries a 2 MP doorbell camera with a 138 degree field of view. When a visitor presses the doorbell, the owner gets a visitor call in the TTLock app, can see who is at the door and unlock if they choose. The camera's motion detection can be turned down or off in the app to save battery.
Above the camera sits a 3D facial recognition module that stores up to 50 faces. To register a face, stand 0.6-0.8 m in front of the lock and turn your head as the keypad numbers flash (right, left, down, up); in use, the camera will not scan beyond 1.2 m. A built-in radar wakes the camera as you walk up - its sensitivity is adjustable, and switching it off saves battery, in which case you press 9# on the keypad to start a scan (manual page 17). What separates 3D from 2D face recognition and how Australian privacy law treats face data are covered in Chapter 06.
FORGE recommends mounting the lock at least 1.1 m above the ground so the camera and face recognition work as intended - check this before you cut the door (manual page 5).
Key Features
- Electronic deadbolt with a one-touch lock and unlock button and a manual turn knob on the inside - no handle or latch, so it pairs with the door's existing handle set.
- 2 MP video doorbell camera (138 degree view) - press the doorbell and the owner can see the caller and unlock from the TTLock app.
- 3D face recognition for up to 50 people, woken by a proximity radar as you approach - one of the face recognition locks we stock.
- Concealed fingerprint reader for up to 200 fingerprints, plus up to 150 PIN codes and 200 RFID cards - compare them in Chapter 03.
- Bluetooth unlock from the TTLock app within about 5-10 metres; add the G5 gateway for Wi-Fi remote access from anywhere (the G5 gateway explained).
- Mechanical key override in the outside panel, and a 5 V 1 A USB-C emergency power port beside the keyhole - what happens when the battery dies.
- Touch-sensitive keypad that lights up with a light swipe or touch; # confirms and * clears.
- Forced Fingerprint - a duress fingerprint that opens the door and sends the administrator an alarm notification. It is for emergencies, not daily use.
- Passcodes, fingerprints and cards can be permanent, time-limited or recurring; passcodes can also be one-time. A new code must be used once within 24 hours of its start time or the lock suspends it.
- eKeys for other TTLock users, with options to allow remote unlock, unlock by link without the app, or near-administrator rights - TTLock eKeys explained.
- Passage Mode with a schedule set in the app - the door stays unlocked for the set period once it has been unlocked by hand, and locks again automatically when the period ends (what passage mode does).
- Entry records in the TTLock app, so you can see who came and went - useful for rental and staff audit trails.
- After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds, and it goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
- IP66 rated outside panel; the inside panel is for interior use only.
- 5,000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery rated at 5 to 10 months, with a voice low-battery warning.
- Suits timber and aluminium doors 35-110 mm thick on front doors with one side facing the weather; one of our app-enabled smart locks.

Mechanical keys come with the lock for the key override - the manual's post-installation check uses them. The lock runs on a 5,000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery behind the battery cover; charge it fully before fitting. How many keys come in the box, and whether RFID cards are included, is being confirmed. The TTLock G5 gateway, the TTLock remote and extra MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
Suitable Uses
- Front and back doors where the outside panel faces the weather and the inside panel stays dry - check your door type in the door type compatibility matrix.
- Timber and aluminium doors 35-110 mm thick, as a deadbolt above an existing handle set or latch.
- Front doors where you want to see who is calling before you let them in, and hands-free entry for the household.
- Short-stay rentals and Airbnb - a code per guest that expires on its own, changed remotely once a G5 gateway is added (which platform suits short-stay hosts; what changes with a gateway and booking software).
- Family homes - fingerprints for adults and a passcode for children, whose fingerprints change as they grow (platform choice for homes).
- Small offices and workshops that need recurring staff codes, eKeys and entry records.
- Doors where the inside panel would get wet - only the outside panel is weather rated.
- Doors thinner than 35 mm or thicker than 110 mm.
- Use as the only lock and latch on a door - it has no latch or handle, so the door still needs its own handle set to hold it closed when unlocked.
- Fire-rated doors - FORGE does not quote a fire rating for this lock.
- Doors where the lock cannot be mounted at least 1.1 m above the ground.
Available Finish Options
Black
(This Product)
STK FELKDB1PBA
The DBV1 comes in one finish, black. Its sister without the camera, the DBT1, is also black.
FORGE TTLock Deadbolts - DBT1 and DBV1
This product is the bold row. Both share the same 199.30 x 72.10 mm panels, deadbolt mortice, 35-110 mm door range, IP66 outside panel and TTLock credential set (200 fingerprints, 150 passcodes, 200 cards), and both take the optional G5 gateway for remote access.
Accessories and Spares
Other gateways and bridges are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The DBV1 runs on a 5,000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery that FORGE rates at 5 to 10 months; the camera and the face radar draw on it. To recharge, take off the battery cover, lift the battery out and charge it through the USB port on the battery itself - the USB-C port on the outside panel powers the lock in an emergency but does not charge the battery (manual page 21). When the charge runs low the lock says "low battery" as you unlock, with roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left. To stretch the time between charges, lower or switch off the camera's motion detection, or turn down the face radar. If the battery goes flat, open the door with the mechanical key or power the lock through the USB-C port next to the keyhole. Use a USB-A to USB-C cable from a power bank - a USB-C to USB-C cable can make the power bank treat the lock as a fast-charge device and not supply power (manual page 22). More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.

Weather Rating - IP66 Outside Panel
The outside panel is rated IP66 for everyday outdoor exposure - rain, sun and dust. The inside panel, which holds the battery and electronics, is for interior use only and is not weather rated. FORGE's rating does not cover extreme exposure such as driving rain, hail, constant salt spray, flooding or immersion; on a door that takes the weather head-on, fit a rain hood or cover over the lock (non-warranty disclaimer). On the coast, read coastal environments and Queensland considerations.

Dimensions
Platform, Data and Compliance
Platform. The DBV1 runs on TTLock - Bluetooth to your phone, with the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company. Accounts outside China use TTLock's out-of-China servers; where that infrastructure is hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record see Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
The DBV1 fits a deadbolt mortice into the door edge and clamps the two panels together through the door with a threaded sleeve and three connection screws. FORGE's cut-out template is a guide only, so adjust the backset to suit your door - the installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Mount the lock at least 1.1 m above the ground for the camera, and charge the battery fully before fitting it.
- Keep the deadbolt retracted and the spindle horizontal while you fit the outside panel (manual page 7).
- Cut the spindle to your door thickness using the markings on it - a spindle that is too long stops the lock unlocking properly (manual page 9; the spindle mistake in Chapter 12).
- Keep the turn knob vertical while you fit the inside panel.
- Afterwards, check that the turn knob throws the bolt smoothly and the key unlocks from outside; if not, recheck the spindle length (misalignment causes).
- In the app, set the door opening direction - FORGE says this calibration is mandatory (manual page 13; how to tell which way your door opens).
- Not sure about doing it yourself? See when to DIY and when to call an installer - Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Frequently Asked Questions
For remote access, yes. At the door the DBV1 works over Bluetooth with your phone within about 5-10 metres, and face, fingerprint, PIN and card entry need no phone at all. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking - add it if you want to unlock, change codes or check records from away from home. Background reading: what a gateway actually does.
Stand 0.6-0.8 m from the lock; the radar wakes the 3D face camera as you approach, and it will not scan beyond 1.2 m. If you switch the radar off to save battery, press 9# to start a scan. FORGE recommends mounting the lock at least 1.1 m above the ground so the camera sees faces properly.
Yes. When a visitor presses the doorbell, the TTLock app shows a visitor call; you can view the camera and unlock if you choose. The camera is 2 MP with a 138 degree field of view, and its motion detection can be turned down or off in the app.
Take off the battery cover, lift the 5,000 mAh battery out and charge it through the USB port on the battery. The USB-C port on the outside panel is for emergency power only - it runs the lock but does not charge the battery. FORGE rates a charge at 5 to 10 months.
The outside panel is IP66 rated for rain, sun and dust; the inside panel is for interior use only. FORGE recommends a rain hood where the lock takes driving rain, and its warranty excludes water damage beyond IP66. See IP ratings explained.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added in the app, the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open the door. A factory reset puts the lock back into that state.
- Cut the spindle to the door. A spindle left too long is the usual reason a newly fitted DBV1 will not unlock smoothly.
- Set the door opening direction in the app. FORGE makes this step mandatory; if lock and unlock work back to front, the setting is wrong.
- Keep the mechanical keys outside the house - in the car or with a trusted neighbour - so they are there if the battery fails (key storage ideas).
- Battery life depends on the extras. The camera's motion detection and the face radar both use power; lower settings stretch the time between charges, at the cost of motion alerts and hands-free wake.
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. FORGE DBV1 Smart Deadbolt - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE DBV1. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing Between the DBT1 and DBV1
They share the same body, deadbolt mortice, door range (35-110 mm), IP66 outside panel and credential set (200 fingerprints, 150 passcodes, 200 cards). The DBV1 adds a 2 MP video doorbell camera, 3D face recognition for 50 people and a 5,000 mAh rechargeable battery. Both are TTLock Bluetooth locks that take the optional G5 gateway for remote access; the DBT1 runs on 4 x AA batteries.
If you want to see callers and walk in hands-free, the DBV1 is the one. If you mainly want fingerprint, code and card entry at the door and do not need a camera, the DBT1 costs less, and its AA batteries are easy to swap. The DBV1 also needs mounting at least 1.1 m above the ground.
Video Doorbell and Face Recognition
Add a facial ID in the TTLock app, then stand 0.6-0.8 m in front of the lock and look at the camera while the red light flashes. Follow the keypad prompts: turn your head right when 6 flashes, left when 4 flashes, look down when 8 flashes and up when 2 flashes. Faces can be permanent, time-limited or recurring (manual page 16).
Yes - the built-in proximity radar wakes the face camera as you approach, so a registered face opens the door without touching anything. The radar sensitivity is adjustable in the settings. It does use more battery; if you switch the radar off, press 9# on the keypad to start a face scan instead.
Check your distance first - the camera works best at 0.6-0.8 m and will not scan beyond 1.2 m. A lock mounted lower than FORGE's 1.1 m minimum may not frame faces well. If the radar has been switched off, press 9# to trigger a scan. Chapter 06 covers how face recognition locks compare.
The owner gets a visitor call in the TTLock app, can view the camera and choose to unlock (manual page 20). The Remote Unlock function must be switched on and Power Saving Mode off. For remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking FORGE offers the optional G5 gateway.
Yes - the app has a motion detection setting under Camera. Lowering its sensitivity, or turning it off, is one of FORGE's battery-saving tips.
Credentials and Access
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once to improve the success rate. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode instead.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used to open the door the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited (unlimited use within a validity period), one-time (used once, and it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent, and recurring (on set days of the week). Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used at least once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them for security. Codes are generated by the system and can be customised afterwards to 4-9 digits (manual page 14; Chapter 14 - passcode types).
M1 (MIFARE 1K) cards, up to 200. Cards can be permanent, time-limited or recurring. Extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately; touch each new card on the card reader when the app prompts you.
An eKey gives another TTLock app account the right to unlock the lock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring. When you send one you can allow remote unlock, create an unlock link that works without the app, or authorise the user with almost the same rights as the administrator (TTLock eKeys).
Bluetooth unlock relies on a direct link between your phone and the lock; the effective range is typically 5-10 metres.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
The FORGE TTLock G5 gateway links the lock's Bluetooth to your home Wi-Fi. Per FORGE's published comparison, TTLock with a gateway gives on-demand remote unlock, scheduled passage mode, Alexa and Google voice control (FORGE does not recommend voice unlock) and integration with property management software. You can also issue and cancel codes and eKeys and check records remotely.
Within reliable Bluetooth range of the lock, on a power point with good Wi-Fi coverage - brick and metal between them shorten the range. See gateway placement. The G5 is dual-band, so it works with 2.4 or 5 GHz routers (the G5 in Chapter 08).
Make sure the Remote Unlock function is switched on (and authorised for that user), that Power Saving Mode is off, and that the gateway is online (manual page 18). If the gateway keeps dropping out, see why smart locks drop off Wi-Fi.
Everything at the door - fingerprint, code, card, Bluetooth app unlock and the key. Only the remote functions pause until the connection returns (gateways and internet outages).
Setup and Pairing
The free TTLock app on iOS or Android
Out of the box the default admin code is 123456, and until an administrator is registered any fingerprint will open the door. Register yourself as administrator in the app as soon as the lock is fitted.
The door opening direction setting in the app does not match your door. FORGE makes this calibration mandatory during setup: choose whether the door opens to the left or right as seen from outside.
Power and Batteries
FORGE rates the 5,000 mAh lithium battery at 5 to 10 months. To recharge, remove the battery cover, take the battery out and charge it through its own USB port (manual page 21). Charge it fully before you first fit it.
Lower or switch off the camera's motion detection, and turn down or switch off the face radar (then use 9# to scan). Each saves power at the cost of a feature - motion alerts or hands-free wake.
The lock says "low battery" when you unlock. At that point there are roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left - charge the battery soon.
Use the mechanical key, or power the lock through the USB-C emergency port next to the keyhole with a power bank and a USB-A to USB-C cable. A USB-C to USB-C cable may not work: the power bank can mistake the lock for a fast-charge device and not supply power.
Installation and Fit
Timber and aluminium doors 35-110 mm thick, with a deadbolt mortice in the door edge. The lock is 72.10 mm wide and 199.30 mm high on each side. Check what is on the door now and the backset before ordering.
FORGE's manual gives no fixed backset; its cut-out template is for reference and says to adjust for customised backsets. Measure yours with our backset guide, or send us photos and we will check it.
Most often the spindle is too long. FORGE says to cut it to the door thickness using the markings on it. Also check that the panels are square to each other and the bolt is not binding in the strike (troubleshooting in Chapter 12).
A handy person with the right tools can - the manual walks through the template, mortice, panels, spindle and batteries step by step. On an aluminium door or a door with no existing deadbolt hole, an installer is usually quicker; Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Security, Lockout and Reset
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock stops responding for 90 seconds.
Remove the battery cover, hold the reset button until the voice asks for the initialisation password, then enter 000# on the keypad (manual page 21). Everything is erased and the lock returns to its factory state - default code 123456, any fingerprint opens - so register a new administrator straight away.
Outside the house - FORGE advises against keeping them indoors, where they are no help if the battery fails. A car, a trusted neighbour or a key safe all work.
Passage Mode and Everyday Use
In the app go to Settings, Passage Mode, switch it on and set a schedule if you want one. During the passage period, unlock the door once by hand and it stays unlocked; when the period ends it locks itself.
Yes - the TTLock app keeps entry records; with the G5 gateway you can check them from anywhere.
Weather and Outdoor Use
The outside panel is IP66 rated for rain, sun and dust; the inside panel is not weather rated. FORGE's rating does not cover driving rain, hail, constant salt spray, flooding or immersion, and it recommends a rain hood or cover where the lock takes the weather head-on.
FORGE's disclaimer names constant salt spray as beyond what the rating covers, and light fading, dulling or minor oxidation of the finish over time as normal ageing rather than a defect. Keep it out of direct salt spray and read coastal environments.
Warranty and Claims
FORGE's 2-year warranty from the date of delivery, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Claims go through us - start with our Returns and Warranty page with your proof of purchase. Water damage beyond the IP66 rating and normal wear, including finish fading, are excluded.
