Lockton E-Series Turn Knobs to Suit ELEV36 Smart Lock - Silver (Pair)

The Lockton ELEV36-SLHD-SIL is a pair of Silver turn knobs designed to replace the standard lever handles on the Lockton ELEV36 Hinged Smart Lock. Each knob measures 58 x 29.6 mm and fits the 8 mm square spindle drive of the ELEV36 lock body.

The primary use case is converting an ELEV36 Hinged installation to a knob-both-sides configuration — either as a stylistic choice or where a lever handle would create insufficient clearance against an adjacent wall, architrave, or screen door frame. The knobs can also be specified at time of order as part of an ELEV36 HK (Hinged with Knob) kit, but this listing provides the replacement pair for existing ELEV36 installations or post-installation conversions.

Available in Silver (this product) and Black (ELEV36-SLHD-BLK). Distributed by Sieper Group (sglocks.com.au).

Key Features

  • Genuine Lockton replacement turn knobs — designed and specified for the ELEV36 E-Series Smart Lock
  • Supplied as a pair (2 knobs per pack) — covers both internal and external handle positions
  • Compact knob dimensions: 58 mm (L) x 29.6 mm (W) — suitable where lever clearance is restricted
  • 8 mm square spindle drive — matches the ELEV36 lock body spindle interface directly
  • Silver finish coordinates with the Silver ELEV36 variant range (ELEV36-SIL-H and ELEV36-SIL-HK series)
  • Passive mechanical accessory — no battery, no electronics, no app required; the ELEV36 lock body and its electronic functions are unaffected by handle type
  • Also compatible with ELEV36 Sliding Door installations where a knob configuration is preferred over the standard lever

Suitable Uses

Restricted clearance situations - where a standard lever handle would contact an adjacent wall, architrave, narrow reveal, or screen door frame. The 29.6 mm knob width is significantly narrower than any lever projection. Before ordering check the clearance between your door and any obstruction - our guide on checking screen door clearance covers the key measurement.
Architectural and design applications - knob-both-sides configuration is sometimes specified for aesthetic reasons on contemporary residential and commercial doors, particularly on narrow stile aluminium doors where a lever would appear disproportionate or interfere with door furniture spacing.
Post-installation handle conversion - replacing levers with knobs on an existing ELEV36 installation. No modification to the lock body or mortice is required; the ELEV36 spindle interface is the same regardless of handle type.
Not suitable as a DDA / accessibility replacement - door knobs require a gripping and twisting action that does not comply with AS 1428.1-2009 (Design for Access and Mobility). If DDA compliance is a requirement, the standard ELEV36 lever must be retained. See Chapter 09 - DDA, NDIS & Accessibility for compliant smart lock options.
Not compatible with other Lockton or third-party smart lock models - these knobs are sized and engineered specifically for the ELEV36 spindle geometry. Compatibility with the ELEV64, Cadell52, or any other lock body has not been confirmed — do not assume interchangeability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will fitting these knobs affect the ELEV36's electronic functions?
No. The knobs attach to the 8 mm spindle that drives the ELEV36's mechanical clutching mechanism - the same spindle the standard levers use. Swapping handle type has no effect on fingerprint, PIN, RFID, Bluetooth, or key override operation. The lock body electronics are entirely independent of the handle fitted.
Can I fit one knob on the inside and keep the lever on the outside?
This is a common configuration for screen door clearance situations - the outside lever is needed to deadlock the bolt (raise lever), while the inside knob is used to retract the latch for egress. Confirm with your installer that the ELEV36 clutch mechanism operates correctly in a mixed lever-and-knob configuration before ordering a single knob rather than the pair.
Do these knobs suit the ELEV36 Sliding Door model?
Yes - the legacy Lockton specification confirms these knobs are compatible with both the Hinged and Sliding ELEV36 configurations. The ELEV36 Sliding Door uses the same 8 mm spindle interface. Confirm which backset variant you have before ordering if you are unsure - see how to measure your lock backset.
I need a knob configuration from the outset - do I buy these separately or is there a kit?
If you are ordering a new ELEV36 and know upfront you want knobs, the ELEV36-BLK-HK and ELEV36-SIL-HK series (Hinged with Knob kits) include the knob handles pre-configured with the mortice lock and cylinder. Ordering a kit is simpler than buying lock and knobs separately. The ELEV36-SLHD-SIL and ELEV36-SLHD-BLK are the standalone replacement pair for post-installation conversions. Speak to Terry's if you need help selecting the right kit for your backset and door type.
Are these knobs DDA compliant?
No. A round knob requires a gripping and twisting action which is explicitly excluded from AS 1428.1-2009 (Design for Access and Mobility). If your installation must comply with DDA requirements - for example in disability housing (SDA/NDIS), a public building, or a strata-titled property with accessibility obligations - the standard ELEV36 lever handle must be retained. See Chapter 09 - DDA & AS1428.1 compliance for further guidance.

Additional Information

Understanding the ELEV36 handle drive system
The ELEV36 uses a clutching lever mechanism - meaning the outside handle disengages from the spindle when the lock is in a secured state, preventing forced entry by rotating the handle. This clutching behaviour applies equally to the knob configuration. When the lock is unlocked via any credential (fingerprint, PIN, RFID, key, or app), the spindle engages and rotating the knob retracts the latch and bolt. See Chapter 03 - Access Methods for a full explanation of how clutching handles work in practice.
Matching finish to your ELEV36 installation
The ELEV36 is available in Silver (ELEV36-SIL range) and Black (ELEV36-BLK range). These Silver knobs are the correct finish match for any Silver ELEV36 installation. If your lock is Black, order the ELEV36-SLHD-BLK (Black knobs) instead. A mismatched finish on an otherwise clean installation is a common outcome when finish is not confirmed at time of order — check your lock's Art. ID label before ordering.
The ELEV36 E-Series accessory range
The ELEV36 family includes a number of accessories: PS-REC-36-SS scar plates (Stainless) and PS-REC-36-BLK (Black) for covering existing door preparation; the SML-H-RBKIT rebate kit for rebated door frames; RFID key fobs for credential management; and the optional G2 WiFi Gateway for remote access via the TTLock platform.
