Vault Phantom Slimline Smart Lock - Lever or Knob - Black or Gold

The Vault Phantom is a slimline smart lock built for narrow aluminium and timber doors where space is limited but digital access control is still wanted. Its slim body suits narrow joinery that larger smart-lock escutcheons cannot fit or would look out of proportion on.

Phantom opens by fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card or fob, Bluetooth from the Vault Smart Locks app, and a mechanical override key. It is available in Black or Gold, with lever or knob handle options, and remote access is available when you add the optional Vault G5 Gateway. It suits residential and light commercial doors where both appearance and fitment matter.

If your door is a standard-width stile, the plain lever Vault Prime or the lever-or-knob Vault Neo may suit better.

Weather exposure (IP65, external module)
The external (outside) module is IP65 weather rated for full dust protection and resistance to low-pressure water jets. The internal module, which houses the battery compartment and electronics, is for interior use only and is not weather rated. See the IP ratings guide, and for harsh salt-air positions our notes on coastal environments.

Mortice and Latch Options

Parts and accessories
Confirm your mortice before ordering
Phantom is supplied with a 60mm backset mortice for hinged and swinging doors as standard. Sliding doors need a hook bolt mortice instead. Confirm your door type and check your backset and door thickness before ordering.
Example: Hinged Door Mortice
Vault hinged swinging mortice, 85mm lock centres, stainless steel
Standard mortice format used on hinged and swinging doors. See the mortice explainer.

Example: Sliding Door Mortice
Vault sliding hook mortice for sliding doors, stainless steel
Sliding doors use a hook bolt mortice for correct operation.
View Sliding Door Mortice Options
Example: Tubular Latch
Tubular latch shown in vertical orientation
A tubular latch uses a spring bolt rather than a deadbolt.
Also available: the Vault 6068 Mortice (60mm backset, 68mm lock centres) and the Vault Rebate Kit for double-door and rebated installations. Choosing the wrong mortice is one of the common pre-purchase mistakes to avoid.

Battery, Power and Backup Access

The Phantom is battery powered, with 4 batteries (not included) installed in the back body behind the battery cover as part of the standard setup. Confirm battery installation and key access during initial setup.

Backup key
Mechanical key backup
Phantom includes mechanical override keys for entry when the batteries are depleted or electronic access is unavailable. Keep a spare key off-site rather than inside the door it opens. See where the keyhole is and what to do when the battery dies.

Suitable Uses

  • Narrow aluminium doors and screen-style entry doors with limited stile width
  • Narrow timber doors where a full-size smart-lock body will not fit
  • Residential front, side and internal doors
  • Light commercial doors such as offices, studios and consulting rooms
  • Hinged and swinging doors as standard; sliding doors with the correct hook bolt mortice

Phantom is controlled over Bluetooth from the Vault Smart Locks app, available on iOSiOS App Storeand AndroidAndroid Google Play. Bluetooth control works when you are near the door and needs no internet connection.

Adding the optional Vault G5 Gateway bridges the lock to your home Wi-Fi so you can unlock remotely, issue and revoke passcodes from anywhere, and view unlock history. For how a gateway works and whether you need one, see what a gateway does and the note on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and band steering, or the blog on whether you need a gateway at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Phantom suitable for narrow aluminium doors?
Yes. Phantom is a slimline lock designed for narrow aluminium and timber door stiles where a larger lock body would not fit or would look out of proportion.
Can Phantom be used on sliding doors?
Yes, when paired with a compatible sliding hook bolt mortice. The standard 60mm backset mortice is for hinged doors only, so a different mortice must be selected for sliding-door use.
Does Phantom support facial recognition?
No. Phantom uses fingerprint, PIN, RFID card, Bluetooth app control and mechanical key. For 3D facial recognition on a lever lock, see the Vault Guardian.
Does Phantom support remote access?
Yes, when paired with the optional Vault G5 Gateway. Without the gateway it works locally over Bluetooth and onboard credentials. See what a gateway does.
What handle and finish choices are there?
Phantom comes in Black or Gold. The lever is available in Black or Gold; the knob is available in Black only. Confirm the handle style and finish before ordering, as these cannot be exchanged after purchase.

Additional Information

Narrow-profile fitment
Phantom suits doors where stile width is limited. Measure carefully before ordering, as stile width and door thickness both affect whether a slimline smart lock will fit.
Mortice selection matters
Fitment must be matched to the actual door and application. Selecting the wrong mortice type is one of the most common installation errors, covered in backset mistakes and spindle mistakes. On the Gold Coast we also offer a measure and install service.
Where Phantom sits in the Vault range
Phantom is the slimline lever-or-knob lock for narrow stiles. For a standard-width lever, see the Prime or Triton; for another slimline option, the Eclipse or the face-recognition Zenith. See the full Vault range guide and the Vault brand profile.
