The Neptune ACKPWB6K is a metal-cased access control keypad and card reader built around a 32-bit microcontroller. It works either as a fully standalone single-door controller or as a Wiegand output reader wired into an existing access control system, giving installers one unit that suits both jobs.

The integrated reader handles 125 kHz EM and HID proximity cards and fobs, and the keypad accepts a personal identification number (PIN), so users can be granted card access, PIN access, or both. Capacity runs to 20,000 users, and the fully potted electronics carry an IP68 ingress rating inside a vandal-resistant zinc alloy housing, making the unit suitable for indoor or outdoor mounting.

This is an access control keypad, not a door lock. It switches an electric strike, magnetic lock, or electric bolt through its relay outputs and is designed to be paired with the door hardware and power supply appropriate to the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it work on its own, or does it need a separate controller?
Both. In Single-door or Double-doors mode it is a complete standalone controller and drives the lock directly through its relay. In Reader mode it sends a Wiegand signal to an external controller instead. See how PIN and card credentials compare in the Access Methods buyers guide.

Is it suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes. The potted electronics are rated to IP68, so the unit withstands wet and exposed locations. Seal the cable entry and avoid a spot where water can pool against the housing. Our guide to IP ratings explains what IP68 covers.

What cards will it read?
The built-in reader supports 125 kHz EM and HID proximity cards and fobs. It does not read 13.56 MHz Mifare cards. Cards and fobs are ordered separately.

What lock can the relay drive?
The lock relay is rated to a maximum of 1 ampere. Match the electric strike, magnetic lock or bolt to the relay rating and power the lock from a dedicated access control power supply rather than directly from the keypad; higher-current locks need an external relay.

Does the # key really work as a doorbell?
Yes. The # key can be assigned as a doorbell button, and the grey alarm wire can be switched to output a doorbell signal, so a single unit can handle both entry and a bell at the door.

Additional Information

• On first use the default administrator password (888888) must be changed before any other programming will be accepted; this is a deliberate safety step, not a fault.
• The anti-crack function locks the keypad or raises an alarm after a set number of invalid card or PIN attempts, which deters casual code-guessing at exposed doors.
• For two-door sites, the double-door mode manages a second zone by prefixing the administrator password with a 2 to enter the zone 2 menu.
