McGrath Locks Rebate Kit to Suit 60/50 Mortice Lock - 147mm Face Plate
The McGrath Locks MLSPRK147 is a rebate kit that adapts a McGrath 60/50 series mortice lock with a 147mm face plate for use on a rebated door. A rebated (or "rebated pair") door has a stepped edge where two leaves overlap, so a standard flat mortice lock and strike will not close correctly without a rebate conversion.
The kit provides the stepped face plate and strike packing needed to offset the lock bolt and latch to match the rebate, keeping the 60/50 series lock working as intended on this door type. It is a passive mechanical accessory with no electronic parts, and is intended to be fitted at the same time as the mortice lock.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays)
Key Features
- Converts a McGrath 60/50 series mortice lock for use on a rebated door.
- Sized for locks fitted with a 147mm face plate.
- Stainless steel construction to match the mortice lock face plate.
- Passive mechanical accessory - no batteries, no electronics, no setup.
- Best fitted at the same time as the mortice lock rather than retrofitted later.
Suitable Uses
- Rebated (overlapping) door pairs where a McGrath 60/50 mortice lock with a 147mm face plate is being installed.
- Timber and aluminium doors prepared for a mortice lock in a rebated configuration.
- New installations where the rebate conversion is planned ahead of fitting the lock.
- Locksmith and trade installs matching an existing 60/50 series lock to a rebated frame.
On a standard flat-edged door a rebate kit is not required. This kit is only needed where the door pair has a stepped rebated edge.

The 60/50 Mortice Locks This Kit Suits
Both 60/50 series 147mm mortice locks above share the same face plate length, so this rebate kit suits either the high-spindle (NX5) or low-spindle (NX1 / Albion) variant.
Full Specifications
Installation Compatibility
Before ordering, confirm three things about your existing lock and door:
- Lock series - the mortice lock must be a McGrath 60/50 series lock.
- Face plate length - the lock must use a 147mm face plate (a 180mm face plate lock requires a different kit).
- Door type - the door pair must be genuinely rebated (stepped, overlapping edge); a flat door does not need this kit.
If you are unsure of your backset or face plate length, our buyers guide chapter on measuring your door and door preparation and the guide to measuring your lock backset walk through how to check before you buy.
The rebate conversion is best carried out when the mortice lock is installed. Retrofitting it to a lock already fitted in a flat configuration usually means removing and repreparing the lock, which is why we recommend ordering the kit together with the mortice lock.

Additional Information
- Confirm your existing lock's series (60/50) and face plate length (147mm) before ordering - a 180mm face plate lock needs a different kit.
- Rebated door pairs are common on older and heritage timber doors and on some double-door entrances; if you are unsure whether your door is rebated, check for a stepped overlap along the meeting edge.
- Where door preparation is non-standard, installation may require a locksmith or a competent door hardware installer.
- Looking for a rebate kit for a different lock? See the Lockton E-Series rebate kit (for Lockton ELEV36 mortice locks) or the Brava Urban rebate kit (for Brava Urban / Metro latches).
