McGrath Grange Scar Plate 900 x 75 x 2mm - Packet of 2

The McGrath Grange Scar Plate is a flat 900 x 75 x 2mm cover plate supplied as a packet of two. It is designed to cover oversized holes, damage, or legacy fixing cut-outs left by previous door hardware when installing the McGrath Grange Entrance Pull Handle with Smart Lock or the McGrath Grange Dummy Entrance Pull Handle. Its extended 900mm length also makes it well suited to covering the fixing profile left by a Gainsborough Omni handle during a retrofit or replacement installation.

Available in two finishes: Satin Stainless Steel (SS304) and Mild Steel Powder-Coated Matt Black. The 2mm thick plates sit flat against the door or gate stile face, giving a clean, professional finish at the entry point. For shorter stile profiles see the 556 x 64mm version.

  • Matt Black

Note
Matt Black finish note: The Matt Black variant is mild steel with a powder-coat finish. When the powder coat remains intact it is perfectly fine for coastal and marine environments. If the coating is scratched or chipped, the exposed mild steel base will rust — so take care during installation not to scratch the finish, and touch up any damage promptly. See the materials and finishes guide for more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this scar plate used for?
It covers oversized holes, damage, or legacy fixing cut-outs left by previous hardware when installing the McGrath Grange pull handle or replacing a Gainsborough Omni handle. See What Is a Scar Plate and When Do You Need One for a full explanation.
Does it suit a Gainsborough Omni handle?
Yes — the extended 900mm length is specifically suited to covering the fixing profile left by a Gainsborough Omni handle installation, making it a practical choice for retrofits where the Omni is being replaced with the McGrath Grange. For shorter stile profiles, see the 556 x 64mm version.
Which finish should I choose?
Match the finish to your Grange handle. If your Grange is stainless, choose SS304. If it is matt black, choose the mild steel powder-coated variant. The Matt Black powder-coat finish is perfectly fine for coastal and marine environments provided the coating remains intact. If the coating is scratched or chipped during installation or use, the exposed mild steel base will rust — so take care when fitting and touch up any damage promptly. See the materials and finishes section of our scar plate guide.
How many packets do I need for a double door or gate pair?
Two packets. Each packet contains two matching scar plates — one for the internal face and one for the external face of a single leaf. A double door or paired gate has two leaves, so you need one packet per leaf (two packets total). If only one face per leaf needs covering, one packet may suffice for a single leaf — but for a full double door with Grange handles mounted both internally and externally on both leaves, order two packets.
Is this fire rated?
No. These plates carry no fire rating. If you need fire-rated scar plates for a fire door installation, see the fire door scar plates section of our guide.

Additional Information

At 900mm long and 75mm wide, this is the larger of the two Grange scar plate sizes. Its extended length covers the full height of the Grange stile profile and is the correct plate for Gainsborough Omni retrofits. On glazed entrance doors and aluminium gate frames the plate conceals previous hardware cut-outs cleanly and without additional surface work. For shorter stile profiles, the 556 x 64mm version is available.

For guidance on sizing, hole placement, and when a scar plate is and is not needed for pull-handle door retrofits, see the why size matters and brand guide sections, and the five key measurements guide.
