HID Seos 8K Key Fob with Insert - Black/Grey
The HID Seos 8K Key Fob (5266VNNN) puts Seos, HID's current secure credential technology, in a fob made for a key ring. It is black with a grey insert, and it is read by HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers, such as the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader - see Compatible Readers.
Each fob is programmed to your site before dispatch - your card format, facility code and numbers - and programming is included in the price. We collect those details on an order form after you order, so have them ready. This is a special order item.
These fobs are programmed to suit your access control system before they are sent, and programming is included in the price. After your order is placed, you will be asked to complete a separate order form with your site's details, and we cannot send your fobs until we have it. To avoid delays, have the following ready:
- Card format - 26-bit (H10301) is the most common; tell us if your site uses another format
- Facility / Site Code - the facility or site code your panel is set up for
- Start Number and End Number - the number range you need, chosen so it does not clash with credentials already in use
- Offset (if any)
- ICE / Elite Key (if any) - only where your site runs its own HID Elite key
- Order quantity and a site reference (if applicable)
This fob is ordered in and programmed for you - contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.
Key Features
- Made for a key ring - 39.5 x 31.75 mm and 3.8 g, in an ultrasonically welded ABS shell with a TPE insert.
- Seos security - mutual authentication and secure messaging between the credential and the reader, on a hardware platform certified to Common Criteria EAL 5+, with HID's Secure Identity Object (SIO) protecting the identity data.
- 8 Kbytes of memory - with support for more than one application on the fob.
- Tough - rated IP67 and working from -25 to +85 deg C. HID says the moulded housing withstands higher operating temperatures than a card.
- Programmed for your site - each fob is programmed with the format, facility code and number your panel expects, at no extra charge. The number is programmed in, not printed on the fob. See Programming Details.
- Lifetime warranty from HID.
Compatible Readers
The Seos 8K Key Fob works with HID Signo readers in any profile and with HID iCLASS SE readers. From our range that is the R15, the RKLB40 biometric reader and every HID Signo listing.
Read range depends on the reader as much as the credential. These are HID's typical figures, and they vary with installation conditions, including a metal mounting surface. HID says Seos is compatible with all HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers (page 6 of HID's Secure Credential Portfolio brochure (PDF)). Whatever the reader, the door opens only when the credential's format, facility code and number are ones your access control panel knows. The fob figures are on page 2 of the Seos 8K Key Fob datasheet (PDF).
What's in the Box
- 1 x HID Seos 8K key fob (5266VNNN), programmed to your site's details
A key ring is not included.
Suitable Uses
- Sites running HID Signo or iCLASS SE readers on Seos that need more fobs, or replacements for lost ones.
- Users who would rather carry a fob on their keys than a card in a wallet.
- Sites that enrol fingerprints on the credential at an HID iCLASS SE RKLB40 biometric reader.
- Staff and tenant access for offices, apartment buildings and other commercial sites. See choosing a platform for commercial, office and retail sites.
Readers that do not read Seos - older standard iCLASS readers (HID's ordering guide says Seos credentials are not backwards compatible with them), HID multiCLASS SE readers for the key fob, and 125 kHz proximity readers. Photo ID - a fob cannot be printed with a photo; see our HID iCLASS Seos cards and HID Seos cards.

Finish selection does not affect functionality, compliance, or performance. The fob is black with a grey insert; the swatch shows the black body.
HID Seos Credentials
We list six HID Seos credentials on three listings - a key fob, a clamshell card and four thin ISO cards.
The bold row is this product. All six carry Seos 8K, HID's current secure credential technology, and are read by HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers; they differ in shape and in the older technology two of them carry beside Seos. The Compatible Readers table lists the readers.

Frequently Asked Questions
HID Signo readers in any profile and HID iCLASS SE readers. From our range that is the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader, the HID iCLASS SE RKLB40 biometric reader and every HID Signo listing. The Compatible Readers table lists them with the read range on each.
Close. HID's typical figures for the fob are up to 4 cm on a Signo reader, up to 3 cm on an iCLASS SE reader without a keypad, up to 1 cm on an iCLASS SE keypad reader and up to 2 cm on the RKLB40. A metal mounting surface reduces them.
Your card format, your facility or site code, the start and end numbers you want, any offset, your ICE or Elite key if your site has one, and how many you need. We send a separate order form for these after you order - the Programming Details note above lists them. Your installer or system administrator can usually supply them.
No. HID's ordering guide says Seos credentials are not backwards compatible with iCLASS readers - they need an iCLASS SE or Signo reader. HID multiCLASS SE readers do not support the fob either. Contact us with your reader model if you are not sure.
Yes, if your readers read HID Seos and we program the fobs in the format your panel is set up for. Send us a photo of an existing credential and any numbers printed on it if you are not sure what your site uses.
Additional Information
- Card format matters. A new card, fob or tag only works once its format, facility code and number range match what your panel expects. Have those details ready when you order credentials.
- Choose your number range with care. HID's open 26-bit format has 255 facility codes with 65,535 card numbers in each, and HID does not track who orders which numbers, so a duplicate is possible. Start a new batch above the highest number already in use on your site.
- Elite and Corporate 1000 sites. If your site runs its own HID Elite key or is on HID's Corporate 1000 program, tell us before you order so the fobs can be matched to it.
- Fobs read at shorter range than cards. On the R15 a Seos card reads at about 6 cm where HID gives the fob up to 3 cm, so users hold a fob close to the reader. If range matters, see our HID Seos cards.
- Allow for lead time. This is a special order item and it is programmed for your site, so contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.

HID Warranty
HID branded readers, credentials and accessories are covered by warranties issued by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (part of ASSA ABLOY), distributed in Australia by LSC. Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.
The summary below sets out HID's published warranty structure. All warranty claims are handled by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries. Full terms and exclusions are set out in the official HID Global Warranty Policy linked at the base of this page.
Warranty Summary
Understanding "Lifetime" Cover
HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
- Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
- HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
- Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
- Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
- Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
- Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
- Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
- Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
- Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables
Important Notes
This manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
HID's published policy states the warranty is solely for the benefit of the original end customer. Products purchased through Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites are covered as supplied - contact us in the first instance for any claim rather than approaching HID directly.
A small number of HID accessories (such as certain Signo mounting plates and wall spacers) are not individually named in HID's published policy. Where this applies, contact us to confirm the term that applies to your specific item before relying on the Lifetime cover shown above for readers.
