HID Seos Contactless Smart Card - Seos or Seos + Prox - White

The HID Seos Contactless Smart Card listing gives you a choice of two thin white Seos 8K cards from HID: the Seos card, and the Seos + Prox card, which adds a 125 kHz proximity side for sites moving from proximity readers. Both are read by HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers, such as the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader - see Compatible Readers.

Each card is programmed to your site before dispatch - your card format, facility code and numbers - and programming is included in the price. We collect those details on an order form after you order, so have them ready. This is a special order item.

Programming Details Required After You Order
These cards are programmed to suit your access control system before they are sent, and programming is included in the price. After your order is placed, you will be asked to complete a separate order form with your site's details, and we cannot send your cards until we have it. To avoid delays, have the following ready:
  • Card format - 26-bit (H10301) is the most common; tell us if your site uses another format
  • Facility / Site Code - the facility or site code your panel is set up for
  • Start Number and End Number - the number range you need, chosen so it does not clash with credentials already in use
  • Offset (if any)
  • ICE / Elite Key (if any) - only where your site runs its own HID Elite key
  • Order quantity and a site reference (if applicable)
Not sure what your system needs? Your access control installer or system administrator can usually supply these details, and an existing working credential from your site is a good reference. Contact us for more information, or wait for us to contact you after you place your order.

Key Features

  • Two cards on one listing - choose the card when you order. Both are white composite ISO cards carrying Seos 8K, HID's current secure credential technology.
  • Seos 8K Card (5006VGGNN) - the standard Seos card: 13.56 MHz only, plain white gloss on both sides.
  • Seos + Prox Card (5106VGGNNN) - Seos 8K and 125 kHz proximity in one card body, so the same card works on a site's old proximity readers and its new Seos readers while it migrates. The card we supply carries HID Prox on its 125 kHz side - contact us first if your site uses Indala or EM proximity.
  • Seos security - mutual authentication and secure messaging between the card and the reader, with HID's Secure Identity Object (SIO) protecting the identity data. Seos shares no traceable identifier during a card session, which HID says helps stop card data being divulged or cloned.
  • Programmed for your site - each card is programmed with the format, facility code and number your panel expects, at no extra charge. The number is programmed in, not printed on the card. See Programming Details.
  • Lifetime warranty from HID.

Compatible Readers

These cards work with HID Signo readers in any profile and with HID iCLASS SE readers. From our range that is the R15 and every HID Signo listing.

HID Reader Which Option Reads Seos Typical Read Range
HID iCLASS SE R15 reader The R15 we list reads Seos 6 cm for the Seos card; up to 5.5 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 20 reader - black Any option - every profile reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 20 reader - white Any option - every profile reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 20K keypad reader - Seos Profile listing Every reader on this listing reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 20K keypad reader - Smart Profile listing Every reader on this listing reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 20K keypad reader - Standard Profile listing Every reader on this listing reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card

HID Signo 40K keypad reader Any option - every profile reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card
HID Signo 40T keypad reader Any option - every profile reads Seos 4 to 10 cm for the Seos card; up to 7 cm for the Seos + Prox card

Read range depends on the reader as much as the credential. These are HID's typical figures, and they vary with installation conditions, including a metal mounting surface. HID says Seos is compatible with all HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers (page 6 of HID's Secure Credential Portfolio brochure (PDF)). Whatever the reader, the door opens only when the credential's format, facility code and number are ones your access control panel knows. The Seos card figures are on page 2 of HID's iCLASS SE readers datasheet (PDF) and page 2 of its Signo datasheet (PDF). The Seos + Prox card figures are from HID's card datasheet and depend on the reader model (page 2 of the Seos + Prox Card datasheet (PDF)).

What's in the Box

  • 1 x HID Seos card - the Seos or Seos + Prox card you choose - programmed to your site's details

Suitable Uses

  • Sites running HID Signo or iCLASS SE readers on Seos that need more cards, or replacements for lost ones.
  • Sites part way through a move from 125 kHz proximity to Seos - choose the Seos + Prox card.
  • Photo ID badges - HID recommends a high definition printer (HDP) for the Seos + Prox card.
  • Staff and tenant access cards for offices, apartment buildings and other commercial sites. See choosing a platform for commercial, office and retail sites.
Not Suitable For
Readers that do not read Seos - older standard iCLASS readers (HID's ordering guide says Seos credentials are not backwards compatible with them), and 125 kHz proximity readers for the Seos-only card. Sites moving from iCLASS, or that need a slot-punched card - see our HID iCLASS Seos cards. Users who want something for a key ring - see the HID Seos 8K key fob. Cards that must be slot punched - HID does not offer a slot punch on either card.

Frequently Asked Questions

Seos or Seos + Prox - which one?
Choose the Seos card if every reader on your site reads Seos. Choose the Seos + Prox card if some doors still have 125 kHz proximity readers - one card then works on both while you change the readers over.
Which readers do these cards work with?
HID Signo readers in any profile and HID iCLASS SE readers. From our range that is the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader and every HID Signo listing. The Compatible Readers table lists them with the read range on each. The Seos + Prox card also works on HID 125 kHz proximity readers.
Will a Seos card work with older iCLASS readers?
No. HID's ordering guide says Seos credentials are not backwards compatible with iCLASS readers - they need an iCLASS SE or Signo reader. For a card that works on both, see the Seos + iCLASS card on our HID iCLASS Seos cards listing. Contact us with your reader model if you are not sure.
What details do you need to program my cards?
Your card format, your facility or site code, the start and end numbers you want, any offset, your ICE or Elite key if your site has one, and how many you need. We send a separate order form for these after you order - the Programming Details note above lists them. Your installer or system administrator can usually supply them. For the Seos + Prox card, tell us the 125 kHz format your existing readers use as well.
Can I print on these cards?
Yes. For the Seos + Prox card HID recommends a high definition printer (HDP), and says a print exclusion zone applies with direct-to-card printing. Check with your card printer's maker before you print.

Additional Information

  • Card format matters. A new card, fob or tag only works once its format, facility code and number range match what your panel expects. Have those details ready when you order credentials.
  • Choose your number range with care. HID's open 26-bit format has 255 facility codes with 65,535 card numbers in each, and HID does not track who orders which numbers, so a duplicate is possible. Start a new batch above the highest number already in use on your site.
  • Elite and Corporate 1000 sites. If your site runs its own HID Elite key or is on HID's Corporate 1000 program, tell us before you order so the cards can be matched to it.
  • Signo readers and the 125 kHz side. A Signo reader reads 125 kHz proximity in its Standard Profile only, and reads Seos in every profile.
  • Allow for lead time. This is a special order item and it is programmed for your site, so contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.

HID Warranty

HID branded readers, credentials and accessories are covered by warranties issued by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (part of ASSA ABLOY), distributed in Australia by LSC. Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.

The summary below sets out HID's published warranty structure. All warranty claims are handled by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries. Full terms and exclusions are set out in the official HID Global Warranty Policy linked at the base of this page.

Understanding "Lifetime" Cover

HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.

How to Make a Claim

For full returns and warranty claim procedures, visit our Returns & Warranty page - this is kept up to date and is the authoritative reference for current claim steps.
  1. Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
  2. Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
  3. HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
  4. Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.

Exclusions

This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:

  • Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
  • Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
  • Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
  • Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
  • Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
  • Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
  • Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables

Important Notes

Australian Consumer Law
This manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
Benefit of the Original End Customer
HID's published policy states the warranty is solely for the benefit of the original end customer. Products purchased through Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites are covered as supplied - contact us in the first instance for any claim rather than approaching HID directly.
Accessories and Mounting Hardware Not Listed Above
A small number of HID accessories (such as certain Signo mounting plates and wall spacers) are not individually named in HID's published policy. Where this applies, contact us to confirm the term that applies to your specific item before relying on the Lifetime cover shown above for readers.
