FORGE H6 Fingerprint Smart Handle Lock - 60/70mm Tubular Latch, TTLock
At A Glance
(G5 Gateway)
The FORGE H6 Fingerprint Smart Handle Lock is a lever handle set on a tubular latch, made by FORGE as a retrofit for most existing tubular latch locks on timber and aluminium doors. The outside panel carries a fingerprint reader, keypad and card reader; the inside lever always lets you out.
It runs on the TTLock app over Bluetooth, with the optional FORGE TTLock G5 gateway for remote unlock and a schedulable passage mode. It suits doors 35-110 mm thick with a 54 mm bore, and FORGE's template marks the bore 60 mm or 70 mm from the door edge. Power is 4 x AA batteries, rated by FORGE at about 6-12 months, with a USB-C emergency port and a mechanical key.
Item code FELKH6BA. It is made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, and carries FORGE's 2-year warranty.

Access Methods

TTLock App
Set the lock up in the free TTLock app, available for iOS and Android ![]()
. Choose Australia as your location when you sign up, give the app full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. Until the first administrator is added the lock is in its factory state - the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open it - so pair it as soon as it is fitted. FORGE's TTLock pairing guide shows the steps; keep your phone within 2 metres while pairing. The introduction pages of the manual cover the same ground for this model.
TTLock is one of the two global smart lock platforms - how it compares with Tuya is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison, and the wider TTLock range in Chapter 14 - the TTLock hardware ecosystem. The app itself is covered in the TTLock app user manual. FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a gateway built in, as a remote route for this lock.
Without a gateway the H6 is managed over Bluetooth when your phone is within about 5-10 metres - see what a TTLock lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway as the add-on for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking: with it plugged in within range you can unlock on demand from anywhere, change codes, check records and set a passage-mode schedule remotely - Bluetooth vs gateway in Chapter 14. Remote Unlock has to be switched on in the app and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18).
Key Features
- Lever handle set on a tubular latch - FORGE's retrofit for most existing tubular latch locks; the inside lever always opens the door.

- TTLock over Bluetooth, with the optional G5 gateway for remote unlock, remote code changes and records.
- Aluminium-alloy panels 142.1 x 77.2 mm, resistant to scratches, rain, dust and UV.
- 54 mm bore; FORGE's template marks it 60 mm or 70 mm from the door edge.
- Scheduled Passage Mode for offices, shops and busy households (what passage mode does).
- 4 x AA alkaline batteries rated at about 6-12 months, low-battery alerts, a 5 V USB-C emergency port and mechanical backup keys - what happens when the battery dies.

Suitable Uses
- Replacing an existing tubular latch lever set on a timber or aluminium door - FORGE designs the H6 as a retrofit.
- Doors 35-110 mm thick with a 54 mm bore at 60 or 70 mm from the edge.
- Homes, Airbnb properties, holiday rentals, offices and small businesses that want codes that expire on their own.
- Shops and offices with a schedulable passage mode on TTLock with a G5 gateway (short-stay platforms in our platform guide).
- Doors that need a deadbolt - the H6 is a latch lock. For a mortice deadbolt choose the FORGE H4 or add a separate deadbolt.
- Doors with a mortice lock and no 54 mm bore - the H6 needs a tubular latch hole.
- Fully exposed doors - FORGE rates the outside panel IP55 for general outdoor conditions; FORGE recommends shelter or a rain cover where the door takes the weather.
- Fire-rated doors - FORGE does not quote a fire rating for the H6; doors thinner than 35 mm or thicker than 110 mm.

Door Fit, Tubular Latch
The H6 uses a tubular latch, not a mortice: it drops into a 54 mm bore through the door, with the latch running in from the door edge. FORGE's installation template marks the bore at 60 mm and 70 mm from the door edge - the two backsets in the product name - and the 27 x 58 mm latch faceplate recess. Most existing tubular latch locks use the same 54 mm bore - how to measure backset.
- Bore - a 54 mm hole through the door on the handle centreline.
- Backset - FORGE's template marks the bore 60 mm or 70 mm from the door edge. Measure your existing latch from the edge of the door to the centre of the bore.
- Latch faceplate recess - 27 mm wide by 58 mm tall on the door edge, with M5 screw holes 41 mm apart.
- Door thickness - 35-110 mm, timber or aluminium.
- Spindle - cut it to stand 15-20 mm proud of the inside face of the door, or the lock will not lock (manual page 9).
- Before ordering - send us a photo of your existing latch and its backset and we will confirm the fit.

FORGE Lever Handle Smart Locks
This product is in bold. All three run on TTLock over Bluetooth with the optional G5 gateway for remote access. Capacities: the H6 stores up to 200 fingerprints, 150 passcodes and 200 cards; the H4 100, 150 and 200; the fire-rated lever 100, 250 and 1,000.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE also lists its DB2 video doorbell, which has a gateway built in, for remote control of this lock - ask us if you want one. Other gateways are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The H6 runs on 4 x AA alkaline batteries in the inside panel - FORGE rates them at about 6-12 months, depending on use. A low-battery alert warns you with roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left; replace the batteries then (manual page 20). If they do go flat, connect a power bank to the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable and unlock normally, or use the mechanical key. More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.
Weather Rating - IP55 Outside Panel
FORGE's product page rates the H6's outside panel IP55 - protection against dust and water jets for general outdoor conditions. It is not designed for driving rain, hail, salt spray, flooding or immersion, and FORGE's manual recommends a rain cover where the lock is exposed. Water ingress beyond the rating is not covered by the warranty (non-warranty disclaimer). On the coast, read coastal environments and see IP ratings explained.
FORGE H6 - Technical Specifications
Dimensions
Check the bore (54 mm), the backset and the door thickness (35-110 mm) before ordering. FORGE's dimension sheet is in the PDF downloads.
Platform and Data
Platform. The H6 runs on TTLock - Bluetooth to your phone, with the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access. FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a gateway built in.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company. Accounts outside China use TTLock's out-of-China servers; where that infrastructure is hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record see Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
The H6 fits a tubular latch into the door edge and clamps the outside and inside panels together through a 54 mm bore, with a data cable between them. FORGE's template is a reference, and the installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Fit the latch into the door edge and secure the faceplate with the latch screws (manual page 6).
- Set the lever direction on both panels first - undo the handle screw, turn the lever and re-tighten (manual page 7; door handing explained).
- Tighten the threaded sleeves and positioning columns into the outside panel with pliers, then fit it from outside with the spindle locked in by its spring-loaded pin and the cable through the bore (manual page 8).
- Cut the spindle so it stands 15-20 mm proud of the inside face - if it is wrong the lock will not lock (manual page 9; the spindle mistake in Chapter 12).
- Connect the data cable, check the panels line up and fit 4 x AA alkaline batteries. The outside lever should stay locked, the inside lever should open the door and 123456# should unlock (manual page 11).
- Not sure about doing it yourself? See when to DIY and when to call an installer - Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door or gate opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
If your door has a tubular latch in a 54 mm bore at 60 or 70 mm from the edge, very likely. Send us a photo of the latch and its backset and we will confirm.
No - the H6 is a latch lock: the outside lever stays locked and the inside lever always opens. For a deadbolt, see the FORGE H4 mortice lock.
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the G5 gateway to unlock or change codes from anywhere.
Four AA alkaline batteries, which FORGE rates at about 6-12 months. If they go flat, power the lock through the USB-C port or use the mechanical key.
Yes, with some shelter - FORGE rates the outside panel IP55 for general outdoor conditions. Under a porch or eave is ideal.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added, the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open the lock. A factory reset puts it back into that state.
- Measure your existing latch. The H6 needs a 54 mm bore; check the backset from the door edge to the centre of the bore.
- Cut the spindle carefully. It must stand 15-20 mm proud of the inside face or the lock will not lock.
- Use alkaline batteries. Fit four AA alkaline cells and replace them when the low-battery alert sounds.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door - in the house or the car - so they are there if the batteries fail (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. Proof of purchase required for all claims. Returns & Warranty | FORGE warranty terms

FORGE H6 Fingerprint Smart Handle Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE H6. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Lever Lock
The H6 is a tubular latch lock for a 54 mm bore - a straight swap for most existing lever sets - with 200 fingerprints, IP55 and 4 x AA batteries. The H4 is a mortice lock with a deadbolt, sold with a choice of backsets, IP65 on the outside handle and 4 x AAA batteries.
Door Fit
FORGE's template marks the 54 mm bore at both 60 mm and 70 mm from the door edge, the two backsets in the product name. Tell us which your door has and we will confirm the latch.
35-110 mm, timber or aluminium.
The recess on the door edge is 27 mm wide and 58 mm tall, with M5 screw holes 41 mm apart.
Credentials and Access
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited, one-time (it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent and recurring. Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them. Codes are generated by the app and can be customised afterwards, 4 to 9 digits (manual page 14; Chapter 14 - passcode types).
MIFARE M1 cards - up to 200. Two come in the box, and extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
An eKey gives another TTLock account the right to unlock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring - with options for remote unlock, an unlock link that works without the app, or near-administrator rights (TTLock eKeys).
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds. The keypad goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway to unlock on demand, change codes or check records from away from home - what a gateway actually does and the G5 explained.
Plug it in indoors within Bluetooth range of the lock, on a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network - the closer the better, with as few walls as possible in between. If the lock keeps dropping off, see the real fixes for Wi-Fi dropouts and gateway placement.
Remote Unlock must be switched on for the lock in the app, and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18). Check that the gateway shows the lock in range.
Yes - FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock Bluetooth remote as an add-on for the H6. It unlocks at close range without the app or a code.
Power and Batteries
FORGE rates the 4 x AA alkaline batteries at about 6-12 months, depending on use.
Connect a power bank to the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable and unlock normally (manual page 20). The mechanical key is the other backup.
Installation and Troubleshooting
The spindle length first: it must stand 15-20 mm proud of the inside face (manual page 9). Then check the lever directions and that the data cable is connected.
Remove the battery cover, hold the reset button until prompted, then enter 000# (manual page 19).
