FORGE A80 Push Pull Smart Lock - Face, Palm Vein, Video Doorbell
At A Glance
(Wi-Fi)
(On Request)
The FORGE A80 Push Pull Smart Lock (FESLATV2A) is a fully automatic push pull mortice lock with an Active Vision video doorbell: face and palm vein recognition, fingerprint, PIN code, card, app and key, and a 4.5 in screen on the inside that shows who is at the door.
Wi-Fi is built in on FORGE's Forge Smart app (Tuya platform), with no gateway. When a visitor presses the doorbell you get a video call with two-way audio and can unlock from it. The outside panel is IP65 rated, and it suits doors 40-110 mm thick with a lock stile of at least 95 mm, on FORGE's 60 mm backset mortice.
The A80 and FORGE A60 share one specification and price - the A80 has a round camera module at the top of the outside panel and a round keyhole cover over the key and USB-C port; the A60 has a rectangular camera bar and a keyhole cover that pops open and rotates. For a French double door, add the matching dummy lock. Made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, with FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
Inside: a manual handle, a deadlock knob and automatic lock and unlock buttons. The child lock and internal deadlock stop the door being opened from inside by accident.

Forge Smart (Tuya) App
Set the A80 up in FORGE's Forge Smart app, built on the Tuya platform, for iOS and Android ![]()
. Register the first administrator on the keypad - press *#, enter a 6-8 digit code and # (manual page 15). Then sign up in the app choosing Australia, give it full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. The lock needs a 2.4 GHz network. On the lock press *#, your administrator credential and #, then 3, 3 and 1 for network configuration; in the app add Camera & Lock - Lock (Wi-Fi) in EZ Mode within about 2 minutes (manual page 16).
Until an administrator is registered, the A80 is in its initial state and opens to any credential (manual page 15) - register yourself as soon as it is fitted.
Wi-Fi is built into the A80, so there is no gateway to buy, and FORGE offers none for it. Remote unlock works on request: a visitor presses the doorbell button, you take the video call with two-way audio and hold the unlock button in the app (manual page 21). Per FORGE's published comparison, Forge Smart locks do not unlock on demand from off-site, have no scheduled passage mode in the app and no Alexa or Google, and have no API. Online and offline passwords, entry records, notifications and Tuya automations work from the app - see the Forge Smart (Tuya) platform in Chapter 15. Online and offline PINs (offline codes must be used within 24 hours), access records and low-battery alerts are in the app too.
Which platform suits you is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison and which smart lock platform is right for you. For a TTLock push pull lock with Wi-Fi built in, see the A90.

- French double doors, with the matching dummy on the second leaf.
- Doors 40-110 mm thick with a lock stile of at least 95 mm.
- Narrow aluminium frames - the lock needs a 95 mm stile; see the slimline FORGE S3 instead.
- Doors thinner than 40 mm or thicker than 110 mm.
- Doors fully exposed to driving rain - only the outside panel is IP65; FORGE suggests a rain hood in exposed spots.
- Sites that need on-demand remote unlock, scheduled passage mode or Alexa / Google - choose a TTLock model.
- 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi - the lock needs a 2.4 GHz network.

Door Fit and Mortice
The A80 uses FORGE's 6068 automatic mortice with a 60 mm backset - FORGE sells no other backset for it. FORGE's 1:1 A60 / A80 installation template marks a 25 x 241 mm faceplate with a 192 mm pocket on the door edge, and the holes through the door face on a line 60 mm from the edge. FORGE's page gives a door thickness of 40-110 mm and a lock stile of at least 95 mm.
- Lock stile - at least 95 mm wide where the lock goes (FORGE). Measure it as in stile width in Chapter 02.
- Door thickness - 40-110 mm.
- Existing hardware - a push pull handle or another mortice in the door changes the cut-outs; see existing push pull hardware.
- Cylinder and spindle - the cylinder tail is cut to stand 18-21 mm proud of the inside face and the spindle 17-19 mm (manual page 6; manual page 8).
- French doors - order the matching dummy for the second leaf.
- Not sure? Send us photos of both faces and the door edge (helpful photo examples).

FORGE Push Pull Smart Locks
This product is the bold row. All are fully automatic push pull locks on a mortice - compare door fit and backsets on each page, and see smart locks on push pull doors - the three pathways and all push pull smart locks.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE offers no gateway or remote for the A80 - Wi-Fi is built in. More cards and fobs are in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The A80 runs on a rechargeable lithium battery pack (7.0-8.4 V) behind the indoor screen module - press the top corners of the screen to pop it off (manual page 12). FORGE rates it at 3,000 or more unlocks per charge. The battery is charged out of the lock: the USB-C port under the outside keyhole cover is for emergency power only and does not charge it (manual page 11). The lock warns when about 50 unlocks are left. If it goes flat, connect a power bank to the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable and unlock normally, or use the key. More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.

Weather Rating - IP65 Outside Panel
FORGE rates the A80's outside panel IP65 and designs it for UV, rain and everyday use; the inside panel and screen stay indoors. FORGE's A80 manual adds that the rating covers general outdoor conditions and suggests a rain hood where the door is exposed (manual page 23). On the coast, read coastal environments and IP ratings explained.

Dimensions
Check the door thickness (40-110 mm) and the lock stile (95 mm minimum) - see Door Fit above.
Platform and Data
Platform. The A80 runs on FORGE's Forge Smart app on the Tuya platform, with Wi-Fi built in - it joins your 2.4 GHz network directly, with no gateway. Remote unlock answers the doorbell video call, per the manual and FORGE's published comparison.
Where your data goes. Tuya is a Chinese company headquartered in Hangzhou with regional data centres; by Tuya's own published country table, Australian accounts are provisioned to its Central Europe data centre, and there is no Australian data centre. The region the Forge Smart app uses for Australian accounts is being confirmed. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for how Tuya compares with TTLock data sovereignty in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison.
Installation
The A80 fits its mortice into the door edge and clamps the outside panel to an inside base bracket through the door, with cables, a spindle and a deadlock shaft between them. The installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Cut the door to the A60 / A80 template - FORGE treats it as a reference; adjust for your door (manual page 4). Fit the mortice with the latch facing the closing direction - latch on top, deadbolt below (manual page 5).
- Cut the cylinder tail to stand 18-21 mm proud of the inside face and fix the cylinder with its screw (manual page 6).
- Fit the outside panel on its sleeves and studs with the anti-tamper switch against a flat surface, and run the cables through (manual page 7).
- Fit the inside base bracket, cut the spindle to 17-19 mm proud and the deadlock shaft to the door thickness so it does not rub, then fit the three M5 screws (manual page 8; manual page 9).
- Fit the charged battery and screen module and check: the handle throws the latch, the automatic button cycles the lock, the deadlock knob throws the deadbolt and the key unlocks from outside (manual page 10).
- Set the door opening direction in the menu before you rely on auto-lock (manual page 17). Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
The look. Both have the same specification and price; the A80 has a round camera module at the top of the outside panel and a round keyhole cover over the key and USB-C port, and the A60 has a rectangular camera bar and a keyhole cover that pops open and rotates.
A visitor presses the doorbell; you take the video call in the Forge Smart app and hold the unlock button. It does not unlock on demand without someone at the door.
Stand 30-80 cm from the camera for face recognition; hold your palm 25-30 cm away for palm vein. Both read through the 3D depth-sensing camera.
FORGE's page gives 40-110 mm door thickness and a lock stile of at least 95 mm, on a 60 mm backset mortice.
No - Wi-Fi is built in, and FORGE offers no gateway for the A80. It needs a 2.4 GHz network.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until then the A80 opens to any credential.
- Use a 2.4 GHz network. 5 GHz is not supported.
- Remote unlock is a request, not a button. Someone has to press the doorbell for you to let them in.
- Set the auto-deadlock delay with care. FORGE's manual warns that a short delay can throw the deadbolts before the door has shut - it recommends 120 seconds (manual page 17).
- Charge the battery out of the lock, and keep the keys away from the door (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. FORGE A80 Push Pull Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE A80. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Push Pull Lock
Yes - fit the A80 to the active leaf and FORGE's matching dummy to the second; hold the second leaf with bolts.
Forge Smart App and Wi-Fi
FORGE's Forge Smart app on the Tuya platform (manual page 16).
It needs a 2.4 GHz network - 5 GHz is not supported. If your router merges its bands, see band steering.
Press the doorbell button on the outside panel; the indoor screen shows the visitor and the app rings. Answer, talk, and hold the unlock button to let them in (manual page 21).
Online PINs sync to the lock over Wi-Fi; offline PINs are generated by the system and must be used for the first time within 24 hours.
Face, Palm and Credentials
Yes - OFF, SMART or OPEN, with NEAR (30-50 cm), MEDIUM (50-70 cm) or FAR (70-80 cm) detection. Ten failed scans pause it for 5 minutes (manual page 19); liveness detection explained.
Press *#, an administrator credential and #, then add administrators (IDs 000-009) or general users (010-249) with fingerprint, code, card, face or palm (manual page 18).
An alert when someone stays in front of the door - 20 seconds by default - alongside the anti-tamper alarm, which sounds and pushes a notification (manual page 19).
Two general users' credentials are needed to open; administrators are exempt (manual page 20).
Auto-Lock and Settings
Auto-lock re-latches the door 2-9 seconds after it opens and shuts (2 seconds by default). Auto-deadlock throws the deadbolts after a delay - off by default, 10-120 seconds, 120 recommended (manual page 17).
The inside deadlock knob throws the deadbolt; the child lock stops the inside buttons opening the door by accident.
Power and Batteries
FORGE rates it at 3,000 or more unlocks; the lock warns with about 50 left. The battery is charged out of the lock.
Open the outside keyhole cover and connect a power bank to the USB-C port with a USB-A to USB-C cable (manual page 11), or use the key.
Installation and Troubleshooting
Hold the automatic lock and unlock buttons together for 5 seconds and confirm with # - the door direction and motor settings are kept (manual page 14).
Check the deadlock shaft is cut to the door thickness and does not rub on the outside panel (manual page 9); misalignment in Chapter 12.
