FORGE S3 Aluminium Frame Push Pull Smart Lock - TTLock or Forge Smart
At A Glance
(S3A)
(Wi-Fi Version)
The FORGE S3 Aluminium Frame Push Pull Smart Lock is a slimline, fully automatic push pull mortice lock for aluminium-framed swing and sliding doors, with 3D face recognition, fingerprint, PIN, card, app and key entry. The motor releases the lock once you are recognised, you push or pull the door, and it secures itself again when the door closes.
It comes in two versions: the S3T, FESLFAS3T, on the TTLock app over Bluetooth with the optional G5 gateway for remote access; and the S3A, FESLFAS3A, on Forge Smart (Tuya) with Wi-Fi built in and palm vein recognition as well. Both have CNC-machined aluminium bodies with 36 mm-wide panels, a tempered glass keypad, IP65 on the outside handle and a 4,800 mAh rechargeable battery, and suit doors 35-100 mm thick. Choose the swing or sliding mortice backset at checkout.
For French double doors FORGE makes a matching dummy lock for the second leaf. The S3 is made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, and carries FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
From the inside, press the one-touch automatic lock or unlock button on the inside handle.

App Platform - TTLock or Forge Smart (Tuya)
The S3 is sold in two versions, and the difference is the app platform and how the lock reaches the internet. Choose the version when you order - they use different radios and apps. The FORGE manual for the S3 is written for the TTLock version; the Forge Smart version is set up in FORGE's own app.
Set it up in the free TTLock app for iOS and Android
Wi-Fi is built into the S3A, so it joins your 2.4 GHz network directly with no gateway, and it is managed in FORGE's Forge Smart app on the Tuya platform - see the Forge Smart (Tuya) platform in Chapter 15. Per FORGE's published comparison, remote unlock on Forge Smart locks is request-based: someone at the lock asks to come in and you approve it in the app - there is no unlocking on demand from off-site, no scheduled passage mode in the app, no Alexa or Google, no API and no hand-held remote. Remote passcodes, entry records and Tuya automations work from anywhere. FORGE describes the S3A's Wi-Fi app as made for straightforward household access, and suggests a TTLock model for short-stay portfolios, commercial sites, clinics and schools that need frequent scheduling and multi-user administration.
Which suits you is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison and which smart lock platform is right for you. As a rule of thumb, short-stay hosts and anyone who wants to open the door for a visitor from work choose TTLock with a gateway; a household that just wants app control and alerts without buying a gateway can choose Forge Smart.
Key Features
- Fully automatic push pull operation - the motor retracts the mortice when you are recognised and secures the door again when it closes.
- Slimline CNC-machined aluminium body with 36 mm-wide panels for aluminium-framed doors; a hidden grab handle on the outside.
- 3D face recognition with radar wake on both versions, and contact-free palm vein recognition on the S3A - plus fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, the app and a mechanical key.
- Two app versions: TTLock over Bluetooth with the optional G5 gateway (FESLFAS3T), or Forge Smart (Tuya) with Wi-Fi built in (FESLFAS3A).
- UV-resistant tempered glass touch keypad with a display, doorbell button and manual lock button on the outside handle.

Suitable Uses
- Aluminium-framed swing and sliding doors 35-100 mm thick, opening in any direction (smart locks on push pull doors).
- French double doors, with FORGE's dummy lock on the second leaf.
- Homes, apartments and townhouses - the S3A for households that want app control over Wi-Fi without a gateway.
- Rentals, offices, clinics and managed sites on the S3T with a G5 gateway (short-stay platforms in our platform guide).
- Doors thinner than 35 mm or thicker than 100 mm.
- Frames too shallow for the mortice - check the frame depth against the case depth for your backset below.
- Fully exposed doors - only the outside handle is IP65, for general outdoor conditions; FORGE recommends shelter or a rain hood where the door takes the weather.
- Fire-rated doors - FORGE does not quote a fire rating for the S3.
- Large short-stay portfolios or commercial sites on the Wi-Fi S3A - FORGE recommends a TTLock model there.

Door Fit, Mortice and Backset
Choose your mortice backset at checkout. FORGE sells the S3 with a choice of mortice - swing-door backsets of 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60 mm, or sliding-door (hook) backsets of 20, 28, 30, 35 and 45 mm - measured from the edge of the door (or the faceplate) to the centre of the lock. Choose swing for a hinged door and sliding for a sliding door. How to measure backset.
Case depths are from FORGE's swing-door (240 x 22 mm faceplate) and sliding-door (270 x 22 mm faceplate) mortice size guides below, and FORGE's compatibility calculator for the 30 mm sliding mortice.
- Door stop or jamb overlap - how far the door stop or jamb overlaps the door edge. The handle base must clear it, so the backset has to leave room beside the lock.
- Frame depth - the depth of the door's frame section from its edge to the glass pocket. The mortice case has to fit inside it.
- Flush or surface-mounted faceplate - FORGE's calculator allows for either. A surface-mounted faceplate sits on the door edge instead of being recessed, which saves 2 mm of frame depth.
- Door thickness - 35-100 mm.
- Mounting height - FORGE recommends about 1.1 m to the keyhole (manual page 6).
- FORGE's checklist - confirm the door type, the jamb overlap, the frame depth and the installation clearances before ordering. Send us your measurements or a photo of the door edge and frame and we will check the backset with you.
FORGE's cut-out templates are in the PDF downloads: the 2585 swing mortise template (25 mm backset, 18 x 190 mm pocket) and the 2085 double-hook sliding mortise template (20 mm backset, 18 x 224 mm pocket). Both share the same five holes through the door face; adjust the pocket to the backset you order.

FORGE Push Pull Smart Locks
This product is in bold. Capacities: the A90 stores up to 50 faces, 200 fingerprints, 150 passcodes and 200 cards; the S3 50 faces (palms too on the S3A), 100 fingerprints, 200 passcodes and 200 cards; FORGE does not publish the HDS1's capacities. All four lock themselves when the door closes and run on a rechargeable battery.
Accessories and Spares
Other gateways are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The S3 runs on a 7.4 V 4,800 mAh rechargeable lithium battery in the inside handle - the manual rates it at about 5-10 months; charge it fully before fitting. Face recognition's radar is the biggest drain, so a lower radar sensitivity makes a charge last longer. A low-battery alert warns you with roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left. If the battery does go flat, connect 5 V power to the USB-C port next to the keyhole with a USB-A to USB-C cable and unlock normally (manual page 24), or use the mechanical key. More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.

Weather Rating - IP65 Outside Handle
FORGE rates the outside handle IP65 against rain and dust when correctly installed - the rating applies to the outside handle only - with a UV-resistant tempered glass keypad and a working range of -20 to 60 degrees C. It is not designed for driving rain, hail, salt spray, flooding or immersion; FORGE recommends a rain hood where the door is exposed, and the tamper sensor must sit flush on a flat surface. Water ingress beyond IP65 is not covered by the warranty (non-warranty disclaimer). On the coast, read coastal environments and what corrosion grades mean.

Platform and Data
Platform. The S3 is sold on two platforms: the TTLock version (FESLFAS3T) talks Bluetooth to your phone and uses the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access; the Forge Smart version (FESLFAS3A) has Wi-Fi built in and runs on FORGE's Forge Smart app on the Tuya platform, with no gateway.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company; where its out-of-China servers are hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. Tuya is a Chinese company headquartered in Hangzhou with regional data centres; by Tuya's own published country table, Australian accounts are provisioned to its Central Europe data centre, and there is no Australian data centre. The region the Forge Smart app uses for Australian accounts is being confirmed. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
The S3 fits the mortice you choose into the door edge and clamps the outside and inside panels together through the door, with a data cable between them. FORGE's cut-out templates are a reference to adjust for your backset, and the installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Mark out with the keyhole about 1.1 m above the floor (manual page 6), and set the latch to face the closing direction - latch on top, deadbolt below (manual page 7).
- Fit the cylinder from outside and cut its tail shaft to stand 10-11 mm proud of the inside face (manual page 8).
- Mount the outside handle with the tamper sensor and pad flush on a flat surface (manual page 9).
- Fit the spindle's short bumped end into the mortice from inside and cut it to stand 17-19 mm proud, then fix the inside bracket (manual page 10; the spindle mistake in Chapter 12).
- Choose vertical or horizontal for the inside handle before fixing it (manual page 12), connect the data cable, and fit the charged battery.
- Check the knob throws the latch and the key unlocks from outside, with the keys outside the premises (manual page 13). Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door or gate opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Choose the S3T (TTLock) for on-demand remote unlock with the G5 gateway, scheduled passage mode and multi-user management - rentals, offices and clinics. Choose the S3A (Forge Smart) for a home that wants Wi-Fi built in, no gateway and palm vein recognition, with request-based remote unlock.
Measure how far the door stop overlaps the door and the frame depth to the glass pocket, then match them to the case depths in Door Fit. Send us the measurements and we will confirm the backset before you order.
Yes - fit the S3 to the active leaf and FORGE's dummy lock to the other so both match. The dummy does not lock.
Register your face at 0.5-0.8 m from the lock; it will not scan beyond 1.2 m. A radar wakes the camera as you approach. With the radar off, press 9# to start a scan.
A 4,800 mAh rechargeable lithium battery, rated at about 5-10 months in the manual, with a USB-C emergency port next to the keyhole and the mechanical key as backups.
Additional Information
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added in the app, the lock is in its factory state with the default code 123456. A factory reset puts it back into that state.
- Check the frame before choosing a backset. The jamb overlap and the frame depth decide which mortice fits.
- It locks behind you. The lock secures itself when the door closes - carry a credential every time you step out.
- The two versions are not interchangeable. The S3T and S3A use different apps and radios, and only the S3A reads palms; choose the one you want when you order.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door - in the house or the car - so they are there if the battery fails (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. Proof of purchase required for all claims. Returns & Warranty | FORGE warranty terms

FORGE S3 Aluminium Frame Push Pull Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE S3. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Push Pull Lock
The S3 is the slimline lock for aluminium frames - 36 mm-wide panels, swing or sliding mortices, doors 35-100 mm - and the only one sold in TTLock and Forge Smart (Tuya) versions. The A90 adds a video doorbell and Wi-Fi built in on a 60 mm mortice; the HDS1 has large solid D-handles for heavy aluminium and double-glazed doors.
S3T (TTLock) or S3A (Forge Smart)
The app platform, the radio and palm vein. The S3T runs on TTLock over Bluetooth 5.0 with the optional G5 gateway for remote access and scheduled passage mode. The S3A has Wi-Fi built in, runs on FORGE's Forge Smart app on the Tuya platform with no gateway, and adds palm vein recognition. Both store 50 face profiles (shared with palms on the S3A), 100 fingerprints, 200 codes and 200 cards.
Yes, over its built-in Wi-Fi. Per FORGE's published comparison, remote unlock on Forge Smart locks is request-based - someone at the lock asks to come in and you approve it in the app - rather than unlocking on demand from anywhere.
The S3T with a G5 gateway - FORGE itself recommends a TTLock model for short-stay portfolios and commercial sites that need scheduling and multi-user administration. See short-stay platform choice in Chapter 07.
Door Fit and Mortice
Swing doors: 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60 mm. Sliding doors: 20, 28, 30, 35 and 45 mm. Choose at checkout.
No - FORGE's sliding chart shows 20, 28, 35 and 45 mm. FORGE's calculator gives the 30 mm sliding mortice a 43 mm case depth; check it with us before you order.
35-100 mm, per FORGE's pages for both versions.
The 2585 template for a swing-door mortice (25 mm backset) and the 2085 template for a sliding-door double-hook mortice (20 mm backset). Adjust the pocket to the backset you order.
Face and Palm Recognition
Register your face in the app standing 0.5-0.8 m from the lock, turning your head slowly when asked; it will not scan beyond 1.2 m. A proximity radar wakes the camera as you approach - its sensitivity is adjustable in the app, and a higher setting reaches further but uses much more battery. With the radar off, press 9# to start face recognition (manual page 18).
Only the S3A (Forge Smart). It shares 50 profiles between faces and palms.
FORGE recommends about 1.1 m from the floor to the keyhole; its detection-zone diagram is indicative only - test on site (manual page 19).
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited, one-time (it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent and recurring. Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them. Codes are generated by the app and can be customised afterwards, 4 to 9 digits (manual page 16; Chapter 14 - passcode types). These are the S3T's options.
MIFARE 1K cards - up to 200 on both versions. Two come in the box, and extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
An eKey gives another TTLock account the right to unlock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring - with options for remote unlock, an unlock link that works without the app, or near-administrator rights (TTLock eKeys). These are the S3T's options.
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds. The keypad goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway to unlock on demand, change codes or check records from away from home - what a gateway actually does and the G5 explained.
Plug it in indoors within Bluetooth range of the lock, on a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network - the closer the better, with as few walls as possible in between. If the lock keeps dropping off, see the real fixes for Wi-Fi dropouts and gateway placement.
Remote Unlock must be switched on for the lock in the app, and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 22). Check that the gateway shows the lock in range.
Power and Batteries
The manual rates the 4,800 mAh battery at about 5-10 months. The radar for face recognition is the biggest drain - lower its sensitivity to extend a charge.
Connect 5 V power to the USB-C port next to the keyhole with a USB-A to USB-C cable and unlock normally (manual page 24). The mechanical key is the other backup.
Installation and Troubleshooting
Yes - undo the handle bolt under the cam, pull the handle out, rotate it and re-secure it (manual page 12).
Hold the automatic lock and unlock buttons on the inside handle for about 5 seconds, then enter 000# (manual page 23).
