The HID Signo Wall Spacer 25.4 mm (1 Inch) (20K10 in black, 20S10 in silver) sits behind an HID Signo 20 or Signo 20K reader and stands it 25.4 mm off the mounting surface. Its job is read range: HID recommends a spacer whenever a Signo reader is mounted on or near metal, including a metal junction box, because metal behind the reader shortens the distance at which it reads a card.
This spacer is made for the Signo 20 and 20K only - the 45 mm wide bodies. The Signo 40 and 40K take the spacer for 40 and 40K readers. Black and silver are both sold from this listing; choose from the Colour option. Silver is a special order.

HID doesn't itemise any fixings with the spacer. It adds 25.4 mm between the reader and the surface, and the screws in the reader's box are 9.5 mm (0.375 inch) and 12 mm long for a junction box and 38 mm (1.5 inch) self-tapping for a bare wall, so check your fixings before you start.

- Signo 20 and 20K readers fixed to a steel or aluminium door frame or mullion - where these narrow readers are often fitted.
- Readers mounted over a metal junction box, which HID names specifically.
- Readers on metal that are picking up cards at a shorter range than expected.
Signo 40 and 40K readers - they take the spacer made for them. Levelling an uneven wall - HID wants the reader on a flat, stable surface with or without a spacer.

HID makes a separate mounting plate for each of the four readers below, and a wall spacer for each body width. These are the ones we sell, with the reader each one fits.

Reader sizes are from HID's Signo datasheet - see the Signo 20 and Signo 20K pages. HID doesn't quote the spacer's own width and length; it is made for the 45 mm wide body.
Fitting Notes
The spacer goes between the mounting surface and the reader. The reader's own fitting steps do not change - mounting plate, wiring, then the reader hooked on and screwed to its plate. They are set out on the Signo 20 and Signo 20K pages.
- Fit it wherever the reader is on or near metal, including a metal junction box.
- Check your fixings first. The spacer adds 25.4 mm, and the screws supplied with the reader are 9.5 mm and 12 mm (junction box) and 38 mm (self-tapping) long.
- Keep to a flat, stable surface. An uneven surface can compromise the reader's IP65 rating and its tamper feature, spacer or not.
- Allow for the extra depth - the reader ends up about 45 to 47 mm proud of the surface. See Dimensions.

Either - they are the same spacer in two colours. Silver matches the silver trim plate the reader ships with. Black suits a reader fitted with the black mounting plate - the 20KMP for the Signo 20 or the 20KTKMP for the Signo 20K. Choose from the Colour option. Silver is a special order, so allow extra time for it.
HID still recommends it. Surface detection lets the reader recalibrate itself to the surface it is mounted on, which helps, but the spacer is what moves the reader clear of the metal.

Additional Information
- It changes how far the reader stands out. A Signo 20 goes from 19.5 mm to 44.9 mm from the surface, a Signo 20K from 21.5 mm to 46.9 mm. Check door swings, handles and anything else that passes close to the reader.
- Outdoors. The readers are IP65 rated. HID doesn't quote a separate weather rating for the spacer, and it asks for a flat, stable surface to protect the reader's own rating.
- One part, two ways of writing it. HID writes these spacers as 20-K-10 and 20-S-10. We list them as 20K10 and 20S10. They are the same parts.
- Warranty on the spacer. The lifetime cover in the warranty box below is for HID readers and credentials. HID does not list Signo wall spacers for lifetime cover, so its general hardware warranty applies - one year from HID's shipment date - alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.

Warranty Summary
Understanding "Lifetime" Cover
HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
- Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
- HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
- Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
- Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
- Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
- Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
- Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
- Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
- Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables
