HID Signo 40K Series Reader Mounting Plate - Black
The HID Signo 40K Series Reader Mounting Plate (40KTKMP) is the black mounting plate for the HID Signo 40K keypad reader. The plate fixes to the wall or switch box and the reader hooks onto it. Every Signo 40K ships on a silver trim plate, so this one is a finish change as well as a spare: fit it when you want black trim on the reader, or when the original plate has been lost or damaged.
It fits the Signo 40K only. The Signo 40, the same size reader with no keypad, takes a different plate, the 40KMP, and the narrow Signo 20 and 20K have plates of their own.

HID lists this plate as 40KT-K-MP for the Signo 40K in its Signo ordering guide (page 3). We list it without the hyphens, as 40KTKMP. We have no confirmed mounting plate for the Signo 40T - contact us before ordering for that reader.

The screws that fix the plate, and the screw that holds the reader to it, come in the reader's box - keep them when you change plates. HID doesn't itemise any fixings with the plate itself.

HID Signo Mounting Plates and Wall Spacers
HID makes a separate mounting plate for each of the four readers below, and a wall spacer for each body width. These are the ones we sell, with the reader each one fits.
Choose by reader model. If you are not sure which Signo reader you have, send us a photo and we will confirm it before you order. HID's part numbers are from its Signo ordering guide (page 3).

Fitting the Plate
- Take the reader off its existing plate. Undo the screw that holds it - the anti-tamper version needs HID's 04-0001-03 security tool - and unhook the reader.
- Fix the black plate to the wall or switch box with the screws supplied with the reader: the imperial pair for an imperial junction box, the M3.5 x 12 mm pair for a metric one, or the two self-tapping screws straight into the surface.
- Hook the reader onto the top of the plate, line up the bottom and refit the screw.
- Power up and test. The reader beeps and its LED flashes at power-up, and again when you present a credential.
- Plan for the wiring. HID's fitting order is plate, then wiring, then reader, so on a working door the reader usually has to be disconnected before the old plate comes away. Power it down first.
- Taking the reader off its plate opens the tamper circuit. Let whoever monitors the system know before you start.
- Mount the plate on a flat, stable surface. An uneven surface can compromise the reader's IP65 rating and its tamper feature.
- On or near metal - including a metal junction box - fit a wall spacer for the best read range.
- Use the supplied screws. Other fixings can damage the reader or the plate.
- The reader is static sensitive - handle it as you would any electronic board.
Frequently Asked Questions
The HID Signo 40K keypad reader, black or white. It does not fit the Signo 40, which has no keypad and takes the 40KMP plate, or the narrow Signo 20 and 20K.
We can't confirm that. HID lists this plate for the Signo 40K, and its ordering guide does not cover the Signo 40T. If that is your reader, contact us before you order.
The plate in the reader's box is silver. This is HID's black version of the same plate, for black trim instead of silver. It is also the part to order when the original plate has been lost or damaged.
Plan on disconnecting it. HID's fitting order is plate first, then wiring, then reader, so on a working door the reader usually has to come off its cable before the old plate will come away. Power the reader down first - and expect a tamper alarm at the panel, because the tamper circuit opens as soon as the reader leaves its plate. See Fitting the Plate.
Only if the reader is going on or near metal, such as a steel-clad wall or a metal junction box. HID recommends a spacer there for the best read range. The Signo wall spacer for 40 and 40K readers is 25.4 mm deep and comes in black or silver.
Additional Information
- Check the model before you order. The Signo 40K has a 3 x 4 touch keypad. The Signo 40 has no keypad and takes a different plate. If you are not sure which reader is on your wall, send us a photo and we will confirm it.
- One part, two ways of writing it. HID writes this plate as 40KT-K-MP. We list it as 40KTKMP. They are the same part.
- Warranty on the plate. The lifetime cover in the warranty box below is for HID readers and credentials. HID does not list Signo mounting plates for lifetime cover, so its general hardware warranty applies - one year from HID's shipment date - alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

HID readers and credentials bought new through authorised channels are covered by HID Global's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship: lifetime cover on HID Signo, iCLASS SE and HID Proximity readers and on HID-branded Seos, iCLASS, Proximity, MIFARE DESFire and UHF cards, fobs and tags, and 2 years on iCLASS SE reader accessories. HID branded readers, credentials and accessories are covered by warranties issued by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (part of ASSA ABLOY), distributed in Australia by LSC. Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.

Warranty Summary
Understanding "Lifetime" Cover
HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
- Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
- HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
- Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
- Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
- Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
- Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
- Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
- Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
- Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables

This manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
