The FORGE H100 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock (FEDBHDH1UA) is Forge's heaviest-duty gate lock: full-metal aluminium panels, a reinforced 304 stainless steel mortice with both a latch and a deadbolt, and an IP68 rating on both panels. It is built for gates and external doors that are fully exposed, where the inside of the lock gets the same rain, dust and condensation as the outside. Fingerprint, PIN code and MIFARE card readers sit on both sides of the gate, with a mechanical key on the outside as the fallback.
Unlike most of the smart locks we stock, the H100 has Wi-Fi built in, so remote unlocking, temporary codes and entry records work through the FORGE Smart app without a separate gateway. The FORGE Smart app is built on the Tuya platform - this is not a TTLock lock, and it will not join a TTLock account. If you already run TTLock locks or want the TTLock ecosystem, Forge's FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock is the TTLock equivalent in this format; the difference between the two platforms is explained in our TTLock vs Tuya guide.
The H100 suits gates and doors from 50mm to 120mm thick, needs a gate frame section of at least 55mm on either its width or its thickness to house the battery compartment, and is supplied with a mortice in your choice of backset from 25mm to 60mm. Independent passage mode on each panel lets a staff or shared gate stand open from one side while the other stays secured.
Forge rates both the exterior and interior lock panels at IP68 - dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion under the conditions the maker specifies - with waterproof data connections and silicone-sealed internal electronics. For a gate lock that means rain, dust, frost and condensation on either face are within its design. It is still a metal lock in the weather: in marine, corrosive or unusually harsh environments correct installation and regular maintenance decide its life, as the realities of electronic locks on the coast explains. IP ratings explained.
Thickness: the gate or door must be 50mm to 120mm thick. Frame section: at least 55mm on either the width or the thickness of the gate frame at the lock position, to house the battery compartment - measure the stile, not the post (why that matters). Gap: the latch projects 12mm, so a closed gate-to-post gap of 10mm or less is recommended; a wider gap needs installation adjustment. Then choose the mortice backset - 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 60mm - to suit the frame (how to measure backset). Suits left-hand, right-hand, inward and outward opening gates. Send us photos and the three figures if you are unsure - contact us.
Access Methods and Smart Features
Fingerprint, PIN and card readers are fitted to both the exterior and interior panels. Remote access uses the lock's own Wi-Fi - no gateway is needed.

FORGE Smart App (powered by Tuya)
The H100 is managed through the FORGE Smart app for iOS and Android. ![]()
FORGE Smart is Forge's own-branded version of the Tuya Smart Life app, so it shares Tuya's cloud, its device ecosystem and its strengths and weaknesses. From the app you add users, create permanent and time-limited passcodes, unlock the gate remotely and review the entry log. Because the Wi-Fi radio is in the lock, all of that works from anywhere with no gateway - the trade-off being that the lock itself has to hold a Wi-Fi connection at the gate.
FORGE Electrical is an Australian-owned company based in Melbourne, and Terry's handles warranty and support for the FORGE locks we sell. The FORGE Smart app runs on Tuya, one of the two global smart-lock platforms, with its cloud operated by Tuya. What Tuya is, its security profile and where your data goes are set out honestly in our TTLock vs Tuya guide - read it before you decide. The H100 is a Tuya-only model; Forge's TTLock gate locks are the FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock, FORGE H10S Single-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock, FORGE H1S Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock and FORGE H1 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock.
Wi-Fi Remote Access - Built In
Most smart locks talk to your phone over Bluetooth and need a gateway plugged in nearby to reach the internet. The H100 skips that: its own Wi-Fi radio joins your network, so remote unlocking, remote code changes and cloud entry records come with the lock. The practical conditions are the same as for any Wi-Fi device at a gate - a usable signal at the lock position (gates are often the far end of the property) and a router that keeps a 2.4GHz band available, which is what Forge's smart locks connect on. If the signal is marginal at the gate, a Wi-Fi extender near it is the fix. Our guide to why smart locks drop off Wi-Fi covers the router side, and Chapter 08 explains what still works when the internet is down - at the lock, everything does.
FORGE Outdoor Gate Locks - Range Comparison
All are mortice-format gate locks with fingerprint, PIN, card and key. The H100 is the only one with IP68 and built-in Wi-Fi, and the only one on the Tuya platform; the rest run on TTLock. Forge's surface-mounted alternative is the FORGE RD1T Outdoor Smart Rim Lock. For a TTLock gate lock from another brand, see the McGrath ASCOT Double-Sided Smart Gate Lock.
Accessories
No gateway is needed for the H100. The FORGE TTLock gateway and TTLock remote do not apply to this model.
FORGE H100 - Technical Specifications
Battery, Power and Backup Access
The H100 runs on a 4000mAh rechargeable lithium battery, included in the box, which Forge rates at up to about 12 months. A Wi-Fi lock works its battery harder than a Bluetooth one, and cold nights and a busy gate shorten the figure further - what really affects smart lock battery life. The lock warns of low battery by voice; recharge it when it does. If it goes flat, connect a power bank to the external emergency USB port and unlock as normal, or use one of the two mechanical keys - what to do when a smart lock battery dies. General power and battery FAQs are in Chapter 13.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. The H100 has its own Wi-Fi radio and connects straight to your network, so remote unlocking, remote codes and the entry log work without a gateway. What you do need is Wi-Fi signal at the gate; if the gate is a long way from the router, add an extender. Chapter 08 explains what a gateway does on the Bluetooth locks that need one.
No. The H100 uses the FORGE Smart app, which is built on Tuya. It will not appear in a TTLock account and TTLock gateways and remotes do not work with it. If you want TTLock in a double-sided gate lock, choose the FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock, FORGE H1S Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock or FORGE H1 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock. The platforms are compared in TTLock vs Tuya - feature comparison and Chapter 15 - choosing a platform.
Yes. Passage mode is set independently on each panel. A common setup is the exterior panel secured at all times and the interior panel in passage mode so people can leave freely; a shop or office can reverse it, or hold both open during business hours.
Three things: gate thickness (50mm to 120mm), the gate frame section at the lock position (at least 55mm on either its width or its thickness, for the battery compartment) and the closed gap between gate and post at the latch (10mm or less recommended). Then pick the mortice backset to suit the frame - how to measure backset and what to check on a gate. Photos help - contact us.
It is the right rating for a lock whose inside face is also outside. On a front door the interior panel is indoors, which is why IP55 to IP66 on the exterior panel only is common; on a gate both panels take the weather, and the H100's IP68 on both plus sealed internals is the point of the product. Read what the IP numbers mean and the Queensland conditions notes.
Additional Information
- Choose the platform before the lock. One property, one app. If you already run TTLock locks, or want TTLock's short-stay integrations, the TTLock FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock is the easier fit. If you are building on Tuya or want built-in Wi-Fi with no gateway, the H100 is the one - five questions that decide it.
- Not a pool barrier latch. A smart gate lock on a pool gate sits alongside, not in place of, the self-closing, self-latching hardware the pool barrier rules require. Contact us if the gate is part of a pool barrier.
- Gate alignment and sag. A deadbolt will not throw into a strike that has dropped out of line. Fix hinges and sag before fitting; misalignment is the number-one cause of a lock that will not lock.
- Battery compartment space. The 55mm frame-section minimum is the figure most narrow aluminium gates fail. Measure the stile at the lock position, not the overall gate - wide or narrow stile?.
- Installation. A mortice gate lock in a metal frame is a cut-and-fit job with a template; most owners have it fitted. Terry's offers advice and installation across the Gold Coast.
Warranty

Proof of purchase required for all claims. Returns & Warranty | FORGE warranty terms
FORGE H100 Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Questions buyers, installers and owners ask about the H100. For general smart-lock questions see the Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13); for the platform question, TTLock vs Tuya.
Access and Credentials
Yes. Both the exterior and interior panels carry a fingerprint reader, a keypad and a MIFARE card reader, so a credential is needed to pass in either direction unless that side is set to passage mode. The mechanical key cylinder is on the exterior panel only.
MIFARE cards - two are supplied and extra FORGE cards are available. How RFID credentials work is in Chapter 03.
Yes - the FORGE Smart app issues temporary passcodes with a start and end time, and because the lock has built-in Wi-Fi you can create or cancel them from anywhere.
On the exterior panel. Keep one of the two keys somewhere other than behind the gate it opens - storing the override key.
Wi-Fi, App and Platform
A usable signal at the gate on a 2.4GHz band, which is what Forge's smart locks connect on. Routers that merge 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one name can confuse smart devices during setup; if it will not join, split the bands or set up next to the router, then move the lock. Why smart locks drop off Wi-Fi and the band-steering note cover it.
Everything at the gate keeps working - fingerprint, PIN, card and key need no network. Remote unlocking, remote code changes and cloud records pause until the connection returns.
Forge's own-branded version of the Tuya Smart Life app. The lock, the account and the cloud are Tuya's; the branding is Forge's. That matters for data sovereignty and support expectations - what Tuya is and where your data goes.
Because Forge makes both, and some buyers are already committed to one ecosystem. Our general recommendation is TTLock for its gateway range and short-stay integrations; the H100 earns its place as the only IP68, built-in Wi-Fi gate lock in the range. Which platform is right for you?
Fit and Installation
Backset is the distance from the gate edge to the centre of the lock. Forge offers the H100 mortice in 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 60mm. On a narrow aluminium frame the backset is dictated by the stile width; on a wide timber gate you have more choice. What backset is, how to measure it and frame size against lock options.
No. The H100 is specified for 50mm to 120mm. Thinner gates should look at the IP66 FORGE H10D Double-Sided Outdoor Gate Smart Lock (35mm to 100mm) or the surface-mounted FORGE RD1T Outdoor Smart Rim Lock (up to 70mm).
The interior side houses the battery compartment, which needs a frame section of at least 55mm on either its width or its thickness at the lock position. A 50 x 50mm aluminium stile does not meet it; a 65 x 65mm or 100 x 50mm section does.
One lock suits left-hand, right-hand, inward and outward opening gates; the installer sets it up to suit. How to determine your handing.
It is a mortice installation into a gate frame with a cutout template - straightforward on timber, a fabrication job on steel or aluminium. Most owners have it fitted; Terry's offers advice and installation across the Gold Coast.
Power and Weather
The lock uses a removable rechargeable lithium battery (4000mAh), supplied in the box. Charge it when the lock gives the low-battery voice warning. If it goes flat, a power bank on the external emergency USB port powers the lock long enough to unlock and swap or charge the battery.
No. IP68 is an ingress rating, not a corrosion rating. In salt air rinse the lock with fresh water from time to time, keep the seals seated and watch the mortice and strike for corrosion. The realities of electronic locks on the coast and corrosion grades explain why.
