McGrath 127mm Backset Tubular Latch - Satin Stainless Steel - For Smartlocks

This McGrath 127mm fixed backset tubular latch is a mechanical latch for smartlock and door-furniture installations that need an extended 127mm backset - where the handle or spindle sits further from the door edge than the standard 60mm or 70mm position.

This product is a tubular latch only. It does not include any smart lock hardware or electronics.

The fixed 127mm configuration suits offset and special door preparations. It operates on a 45 degree rotation and accepts standard 8mm spindle door furniture. If you are unsure of your backset, see measuring your lock backset.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 127mm backset mean?
It is the distance from the door edge to the centre of the spindle or handle hole - a 127mm backset positions the handle further from the edge than the standard 60mm or 70mm. See Chapter 02 - Measuring Your Door.
Will this latch suit standard door handles?
Yes. It accepts door furniture designed for an 8mm spindle.
What is a common installation mistake to avoid?
Fitting the wrong backset length, which results in misaligned handles or incorrect door preparation. Read what happens with the wrong backset.
Does it have any security feature?
Yes. A solid deadlatch pin helps resist the latch being slipped when the door is closed.

Additional Information

  • Extended-backset tubular latches are commonly used where door handles are positioned further from the door edge, or in architectural and retrofit applications that must match existing hardware.
  • For backset measurement guidance, see measuring your lock backset.
  • The stainless steel latch tongue improves durability in higher-use environments.
  • Confirm your door preparation matches the fixed 127mm backset before installation, and browse the full latch range for standard backsets.
