KAS RFID FOB - Mifare S50 1k, 13.56 MHz, Grey, with UID

The KAS Mifare S50 RFID Fob (MCM035) is a blank, grey 13.56 MHz high-frequency key fob credential supplied with a printed UID (Unique Identifier). It is designed for use with KAS access control systems including KASAccess, KAS Cloud Console, Lock-S Software, and LMS, and is compatible with the KAS NEO Cloud Lock, KAS ACR2 Reader, and KAS Platinum Lock platforms. See RFID Access Method Guide for background on how RFID credentials work across smart lock systems.

The card operates on the ISO 14443A standard using Mifare 1k S50 technology, providing higher data protection than magnetic stripe credentials and contactless operation that eliminates physical wear from repeated use. The UID printed on each fob allows straightforward enrolment into the KAS system without requiring a card reader to retrieve the credential number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "blank with UID" mean?
The card arrives unprogrammed — it has no access rights loaded onto it. The UID is a fixed, factory-assigned number printed on the card body. This number is entered or scanned during enrolment to assign the card to a user and grant access to the relevant doors. No card reader is required to retrieve the UID before enrolment, since it is printed directly on the card.
How do I add this card to my KAS system?
Cards are enrolled through the KASAccess web console, KAS Cloud Console, Lock-S Software, or LMS — depending on which platform your site uses. The UID printed on the card is entered or scanned during enrolment. Refer to your KAS system documentation or contact your KAS installer for site-specific enrolment steps.
Is this card compatible with non-KAS systems?
The card operates on the 13.56 MHz ISO 14443A Mifare S50 standard and is broadly compatible with any access control hardware reading this frequency and standard. Compatibility with specific third-party systems should be confirmed with that system's manufacturer before purchase.
Is this fob the same as the KAS Mifare S50 Card?
Both products use the same Mifare S50 1k chip and 13.56 MHz ISO 14443A frequency — they are functionally identical credentials. The only difference is form factor. This product (MCM035) is a compact grey key fob designed for keyring carry. The KAS RFID Card (MCM250) is a credit-card sized white card for wallet or lanyard carry. Select whichever suits the user's preference.
Are quantity discounts available?
Yes. Contact Terry's Locksmiths directly for pricing on larger quantities.

Additional Information

Mifare S50 vs Magnetic Stripe
Mifare S50 credentials provide higher data protection than magnetic stripe cards. Contactless operation means no physical read head contact occurs during use, eliminating the primary wear mechanism of magnetic stripe credentials. The chip is also resistant to data loss from proximity to other emitting devices. The contactless read range is short by design — the card must be held close to the reader face to authenticate.
UID and System Enrolment
The UID printed on this card is a fixed, factory-assigned identifier and cannot be changed. When enrolling, use the printed UID exactly as shown. Keep a record of which UID is assigned to which user for efficient credential management — particularly on larger sites. On KAS NEO and ACR systems, each credential is assigned a user ID within the lock (ID range 00-99 for locally managed locks). Presenting the fob to the lock face will unlock the door with a single long beep on success. See the KAS NEO Access Methods section for credential capacity context.
RFID Security Awareness
While Mifare S50 credentials are more secure than magnetic stripe, RFID cards can theoretically be read by relay attack devices if brought into very close proximity. For high-security environments, consider whether RFID alone meets your security requirements, or whether a dual-credential approach (RFID + PIN) on a compatible reader is appropriate. See RFID Signal-Blocking Wallets for context on credential protection options.
