HID MIFARE DESFire EV3 8K Card - White
The HID MIFARE DESFire EV3 8K Card listing gives you a choice of three white 13.56 MHz smart cards from HID. For HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers as we supply them, choose the 801 Compatibility Profile card; the two Custom Profile cards are programmed with HID's Secure Identity Object in EV1 compatibility mode, one of them with a 125 kHz proximity side - see Compatible Readers.
Each card is programmed to your site before dispatch, and programming is included in the price. We collect your site's details on an order form after you order, so have them ready. The minimum order is 10 cards.
These cards are programmed to suit your access control system before they are sent, and programming is included in the price. After your order is placed, you will be asked to complete a separate order form with your site's details, and we cannot send your cards until we have it. To avoid delays, have the following ready:
- Card format - 26-bit (H10301) is the most common; tell us if your site uses another format
- Facility / Site Code - the facility or site code your panel is set up for
- Start Number and End Number - the number range you need, chosen so it does not clash with credentials already in use
- Offset (if any)
- ICE / Elite Key (if any) - only where your site runs its own HID Elite key
- Order quantity and a site reference (if applicable)
These cards are ordered in and programmed for you - contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.
These cards are programmed to order. The store is set to a minimum purchase quantity of 10, so a smaller quantity cannot be ordered.
Key Features
- Three cards on one listing - choose the card when you order. All are white composite ISO cards with 8K of MIFARE DESFire EV3 memory.
- Compatibility Profile (801FVGGNN) - carries HID's Secure Identity Object (SIO) in an EV1-compatible application, so it is read by iCLASS SE and multiCLASS SE (Rev E) readers and by every HID Signo reader that reads DESFire EV1 or EV2 SIO cards. It has a 7-byte static UID.
- Custom Profile (800FNGGNN) - HID's Custom Profile card, custom programmed with HID's Secure Identity Object (SIO) in EV1 compatibility mode to the details you give us. Contact us before you order if your system runs its own DESFire application.
- Custom Profile with 125 kHz (810FNNGGNNN) - the same Custom Profile card with a 125 kHz proximity side, programmed with your HID proximity access details as well, for sites moving from 125 kHz proximity readers.
- Layered security - on the 801 card your site's data is held in HID's Secure Identity Object (SIO), which is AES-128 encrypted independently of the card's own DESFire file security. HID says its DESFire EV3 cards are fully backwards compatible with EV1 and EV2 based systems.
- Long data life - HID gives a minimum data retention of 25 years.
- Programmed for your site - each card is programmed to your site's details at no extra charge, and is printed with its card ID number. See Programming Details.
- Minimum order of 10 cards - the cards are programmed to order. See Minimum Order.
- Lifetime warranty from HID.
Compatible Readers
From our range, the 801 Compatibility Profile card is the one to choose: it is read by the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader and by HID Signo readers in Smart Profile, which HID recommends for this card, or in Standard Profile.
Read range depends on the reader as much as the card. These are HID's typical figures, and they vary with installation conditions, including a metal mounting surface. The Signo figure is on page 2 of the DESFire EV3 Card datasheet (PDF). For the R15 we give the reader datasheet's figure for MIFARE DESFire EV1 and EV2 cards, on page 2 of HID's iCLASS SE readers datasheet (PDF); HID's card datasheet gives up to 8 cm for iCLASS SE readers as a family. A Signo reader in Standard Profile can also output the card's UID at times unless ISO 14443A UID reading is turned off, which is why HID recommends the Smart Profile (page 11 of HID's DESFire EV3 application note (PDF)). HID's summary of what each reader reads from each card is on page 15 of the application note (PDF).
What's in the Box

Suitable Uses
- Sites running HID Signo or iCLASS SE readers that issue MIFARE DESFire cards - choose the 801 Compatibility Profile card.
- Sites replacing HID's 13.56 MHz DESFire EV1 or EV2 SIO cards - HID's conversion table maps those to the 801. Its EV1 and EV2 cards with a 125 kHz side map to a card we do not list, so contact us.
- Sites that already issue HID Custom Profile DESFire cards - the 800; contact us first if your system runs its own DESFire application.
- Sites that still have 125 kHz proximity readers at some doors - the 810.
HID Signo readers in Seos Profile - they do not read DESFire. Biometric readers that store a fingerprint template on the card - HID lists its DESFire EV3 cards as not compatible with them. Hot locations - HID gives an operating range of -35 to +50 deg C for these cards. Cards that must be slot punched - the Custom Profile cards cannot be punched. Orders of fewer than 10 cards.

Frequently Asked Questions
For HID Signo or iCLASS SE readers as we supply them, the 801 Compatibility Profile card. The 800 and 810 are HID's Custom Profile cards, programmed with HID's Secure Identity Object in EV1 compatibility mode - choose one where your site already uses that card, and the 810 only if some doors still have 125 kHz proximity readers. Contact us if you are not sure.
From our range, the 801 card is read by the HID iCLASS SE R15 reader and by HID Signo readers in Smart Profile, which HID recommends for this card, or in Standard Profile. The Seos Profile does not read DESFire. The Compatible Readers table lists them.
Your card format, your facility or site code, the start and end numbers you want, any offset, your ICE or Elite key if your site has one, and how many you need. We send a separate order form for these after you order - the Programming Details note above lists them. Your installer or system administrator can usually supply them. For the 810, give us your 125 kHz proximity details as well.
No. HID says a profile issued from the factory cannot be changed in the field, so choose the card to suit your readers.
No, not for a fingerprint template stored on the card. HID lists its DESFire EV3 cards as not compatible with its fingerprint readers.
Additional Information
- Card format matters. A new card, fob or tag only works once its format, facility code and number range match what your panel expects. Have those details ready when you order credentials.
- Choose your number range with care. HID's open 26-bit format has 255 facility codes with 65,535 card numbers in each, and HID does not track who orders which numbers, so a duplicate is possible. Start a new batch above the highest number already in use on your site.
- Elite and Corporate 1000 sites. If your site runs its own HID Elite key or is on HID's Corporate 1000 program, tell us before you order so the cards can be matched to it.
- The 801 and Signo firmware. HID's Compatibility Profile holds an EV1-compatible application, which iCLASS SE and multiCLASS SE (Rev E) readers and HID Signo readers read, and a High Security EV3 application for HID Signo readers on firmware 10.0.2.4 or higher.
- Minimum order and lead time. The minimum order is 10 cards. All three cards are special order items, programmed for your site, so contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.
Warranty
HID readers and credentials bought new through authorised channels are covered by HID Global's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship: lifetime cover on HID Signo, iCLASS SE and HID Proximity readers and on HID-branded Seos, iCLASS, Proximity, MIFARE DESFire and UHF cards, fobs and tags, and 2 years on iCLASS SE reader accessories. HID Warranty
HID branded readers, credentials and accessories are covered by warranties issued by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (part of ASSA ABLOY), distributed in Australia by LSC. Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.
The summary below sets out HID's published warranty structure. All warranty claims are handled by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries. Full terms and exclusions are set out in the official HID Global Warranty Policy linked at the base of this page.
Warranty Summary
Understanding "Lifetime" Cover
HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
- Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
- HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
- Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
- Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
- Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
- Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
- Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
- Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
- Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables
Important Notes
This manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
HID's published policy states the warranty is solely for the benefit of the original end customer. Products purchased through Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites are covered as supplied - contact us in the first instance for any claim rather than approaching HID directly.
A small number of HID accessories (such as certain Signo mounting plates and wall spacers) are not individually named in HID's published policy. Where this applies, contact us to confirm the term that applies to your specific item before relying on the Lifetime cover shown above for readers.
