HID ProxKey III 125kHz Proximity Key Fob - Black/Grey
The HID ProxKey III Proximity Key Fob (1346NNSNN) is a 125 kHz proximity credential from HID, about the size of a car key and made to live on a key ring. It is black with a grey insert, and it is read by HID 125 kHz proximity readers such as the HID MiniProx and the HID ProxPoint Plus - a handy alternative to an access card.
Each fob is programmed to your site before dispatch - your card format, facility code and numbers - and programming is included in the price. We collect those details on an order form after you order, so have them ready. This is a special order item.
These fobs are programmed to suit your access control system before they are sent, and programming is included in the price. After your order is placed, you will be asked to complete a separate order form with your site's details, and we cannot send your fobs until we have it. To avoid delays, have the following ready:
- Card format - 26-bit (H10301) is the most common; tell us if your site uses another format
- Facility / Site Code - the facility or site code your panel is set up for
- Start Number and End Number - the number range you need, chosen so it does not clash with credentials already in use
- Offset (if any)
- Order quantity and a site reference (if applicable)
This fob is ordered in and programmed for you - contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.
Key Features
- Made for a key ring - 39.5 x 31.8 x 6.0 mm and 4 g, with a key ring hole.
- HID 125 kHz proximity - HID says it offers universal compatibility with all HID proximity readers. See Compatible Readers.
- Consistent read range - HID says it is unaffected by body shielding or changing environmental conditions, even when close to keys and coins.
- No battery - it is a passive fob, so there is nothing to charge or replace.
- Welded shell - an ultrasonically welded ABS shell with a TPE insert, working from -45 to +70 deg C.
- Programmed for your site - each fob is programmed with the format, facility code and number your panel expects, at no extra charge. The number is programmed in, not printed on the fob. It takes formats up to 85 bits. See Programming Details.
- Lifetime warranty from HID.
Compatible Readers
The ProxKey III works with HID 125 kHz proximity readers. From our range that is the four HID proximity readers below, and HID Signo readers ordered in Standard Profile.
HID Signo readers
Read range depends on the reader as much as the credential. These are HID's typical maximum figures, and they vary with installation conditions. HID Signo readers read 125 kHz proximity credentials in their Standard Profile only - the Seos and Smart profiles do not. Whatever the reader, the door opens only when the credential's format, facility code and number are ones your access control panel knows. If your site's credentials are in an Indala or EM format, tell us before you order. The fob figures are on page 2 of the ProxKey III datasheet (PDF).
What's in the Box
- 1 x HID ProxKey III proximity key fob (1346NNSNN), programmed to your site's details
A key ring is not included.
Suitable Uses
- Sites running HID 125 kHz proximity readers that need more fobs, or replacements for lost ones.
- Users who would rather carry a fob on their keys than a card in a wallet.
- Staff and tenant access for offices, apartment buildings and other commercial sites. See choosing a platform for commercial, office and retail sites.
Readers that work only at 13.56 MHz, such as Seos, iCLASS and MIFARE readers - they do not read a 125 kHz proximity credential. Photo ID - a fob cannot be printed with a photo; see our HID 125 kHz proximity cards. Doors where users need to present a credential from a distance - a fob reads at shorter range than a card.

HID 125 kHz Proximity Credentials
We list four HID 125 kHz proximity credentials on three listings - two cards, a key fob and an adhesive tag.
The bold row is this product. All four carry the same HID 125 kHz proximity technology and are read by the same readers; they differ in shape and in how far away they read. The read range column uses the HID MiniProx as the yardstick - the Compatible Readers table has every reader.

Frequently Asked Questions
HID 125 kHz proximity readers. From our range that is the HID ProxPoint Plus, HID MiniProx, HID ThinLine II and HID MaxiProx, and HID Signo readers in Standard Profile. The Compatible Readers table has the read range on each.
Closer than a card. HID's typical maximum figures for the ProxKey III are 3.7 cm on a ProxPoint Plus, 5 cm on a MiniProx or ThinLine II and 28 cm on a MaxiProx. They vary with installation conditions.
Your card format, your facility or site code, the start and end numbers you want, any offset, and how many you need. We send a separate order form for these after you order - the Programming Details note above lists them. Your installer or system administrator can usually supply them.
No. The ProxKey III is a passive, no-battery design, so there is nothing to charge or replace.
Yes, if your readers are HID 125 kHz proximity readers and we program the fobs in the format your panel is set up for. Send us a photo of an existing credential and any numbers printed on it if you are not sure what your site uses.
Additional Information
- Card format matters. A new card, fob or tag only works once its format, facility code and number range match what your panel expects. Have those details ready when you order credentials. HID explains formats on pages 8 and 9 of its proximity catalogue (PDF).
- Choose your number range with care. HID's open 26-bit format has 255 facility codes with 65,535 card numbers in each, and HID does not track who orders which numbers, so a duplicate is possible. Start a new batch above the highest number already in use on your site.
- Fobs read at shorter range than cards. On a MiniProx the ProxKey III reads at up to 5 cm where a ProxCard II card reads at up to 14 cm, so users hold a fob close to the reader. If range matters, see our HID 125 kHz proximity cards.
- Allow for lead time. This is a special order item and it is programmed for your site, so contact us for an estimated dispatch time before you order.
- Planning a move to smart cards? 125 kHz proximity is HID's long-established card technology. HID's current readers take secure 13.56 MHz credentials, and some read 125 kHz as well, which lets a site change its readers first and its cards later. Browse the HID range or ask for a locksmith recommendation.

HID Warranty
HID branded readers, credentials and accessories are covered by warranties issued by HID Global Corporation and its affiliated entities (part of ASSA ABLOY), distributed in Australia by LSC. Most HID readers and HID-branded credentials carry lifetime cover; a small number of specific models and accessories carry a fixed term instead.
The summary below sets out HID's published warranty structure. All warranty claims are handled by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries. Full terms and exclusions are set out in the official HID Global Warranty Policy linked at the base of this page.
Warranty Summary
Understanding "Lifetime" Cover
HID's published policy uses the term "Lifetime Warranty Period" without defining it further - it is not stated as a fixed number of years, "for the life of the product", or "as long as you own it". It applies for as long as HID continues to honour that stated period under its published policy.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries with your proof of original purchase and a description of the fault.
- Where a claim needs to be escalated, HID requires written notice from the end customer within the applicable warranty period - we handle this notification on your behalf.
- HID's remedy, at its own option, is to repair the product, replace it, or issue a credit towards a future purchase.
- Postage, insurance and shipping costs to present hardware for warranty assessment are the end customer's responsibility under HID's policy - we'll advise what's needed before anything is sent.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Installation by anyone other than HID or an HID-authorised installer
- Use other than as authorised in HID's own documentation
- Modification, alteration or repair by a party other than HID
- Combination with hardware, operating systems or tools not provided by HID
- Accident, neglect, misuse or negligence
- Upgrades, evaluation units and demonstration units
- Consumables - batteries, paper, pads, cleaning solution, towels, cartridges and cables
Important Notes
This manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Where a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
HID's published policy states the warranty is solely for the benefit of the original end customer. Products purchased through Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites are covered as supplied - contact us in the first instance for any claim rather than approaching HID directly.
A small number of HID accessories (such as certain Signo mounting plates and wall spacers) are not individually named in HID's published policy. Where this applies, contact us to confirm the term that applies to your specific item before relying on the Lifetime cover shown above for readers.
